Up for sale, a 1965 Harmony H420 tube amp, a rare Valco produced and USA-made alternative to the famed Supro Thunderbolt! Produced in the same Valco factory as the Thunderbolt and marketed by Harmony to pair with their guitar line, the H420 is extremely similar in terms of circuit and layout to its more famous Supro cousin, with the added benefit of individual Treble and Bass controls. Rich, powerful, and nuanced, the H420 pushes 35 watts through a pair of original RCA 6L6GC power tubes and the original Jensen C15N speaker. For everything from clean, wooly rhythm tones to saturated tube overdrive further up on the volume dial, this Harmony delivers a pure sound with a simple yet ingenious circuit. The circuit is completely stock, with CTS pots that date to 1965 and original impressively sized transformers as well. The faceplate retains its original shiny chrome appearance, with all of the original black silkscreen graphics and lettering, as well as a minty trio of stock witch hat knobs. The Jensen C15N speaker has a near mint black speaker frame, gold foil label on the ceramic magnet, and date code from’65. The original black ostrich tolex is extremely clean too, with only a few requisite scuffs and light marks of wear on the edges of the enclosure. Up for sale, a 1972 Fender Bassman 10 in excellent condition and in perfect working order. A first year model, this Silverface Fender retains its original quad of Oxford speakers. Comparable to the Bassman 50 head in terms of power and design, the Bassman 10 has the classic, lightly compressed sound of the earlier Bassman models, with modest headroom before pushing into smooth tube overdrive at around 4 on the Volume dial. The channels are individually voiced (Bass/Normal and Bass/Studio), with the first channel having a Deep switch and overall darker tonal character with more limited EQ sweep, while the second channel covers a much wider frequency range in terms of EQ and also has the added bonus of a Midrange knob. The tone is classic Fender chime, with a clean sound that sparkles and is the perfect platform for an array of effects pedals. The circuit has been thoroughly serviced with a few new caps in the preamp and a full recap of the main filter caps as well. Both original Schumacher transformers are intact and date to 1972, along with the original CTS pots, which date back to late’71. The speaker quad is all original, and all four speakers retain their original cones (one speaker has a professional cone repair from a minor split). The tubes consist of a new matched pair of Sovtek 5881 power tubes and a trio of new matching Electro Harmonix 12AX7s. Cosmetically, the amp retains its original smooth black tolex as well as the stock silver sparkle grillcloth with blue stripe. The amp is very clean overall, with only one minor hole in the grill frame, and some minor scuffs and light wear on the edges of the enclosure. This is a powerful Magnavox push pull stereo 15 wpc tube amp. Uses 4 6bq5 output tubes that are included Two 6eu7 preamp tubes One 5u4gb rectifier tube Brought up slowly on a variac and sounded great! All original and will need to be recapped as with all vintage audio. This is probably one of the best Magnavox amps to use. It has a very simple circuit giving clean sound. Less is more sometimes. These beautiful Altec 872a “Madrid” are from about 1974. Part of the 870 series from the era. The original Spanish style. Lattice grills were broken so custom grills have been added. Guilford of Maine “Crosstown” Fabric. Grill cloth, acoustically transparent. The original dust screens are still intact behind the new grills. The cloth color is “graphite”, the grill frames were made from new 1/4 birch plywood. The grills are removable (8 stapled on velcro squares each) however service is performed out the rear of the cabinet. The Original Altec badges were retained and used on the new grills. The cabinets have been hand oiled and rubbed out several times then hand waxed for durability and protection of the wood. One cabinet has a few scars, “character” as they say, on the top, please see photos. The bases have some edge wear. One corner on the bottom back of one has had a small repair and a replaced foot. From any angle these just look amazing. Dean Martin would have loved these. The original 420Y Biflex woofers and the crossbar mounted tweeters are all working beautifully. All of the insulation is original and complete and intact. The backs of the cabinets are as nice as the front, the terminals are in perfect condition. Original factory stickers still in place with each speakers serial number, only two digits apart, these are a true pair. The speakers have only been auditioned by ear, no electronic testing has been performed. These have that true classic Altec vintage sound and I think they have just a great look. These probably weigh in at over 50 lbs each, 21 wide x 24 tall x 17 deep… They aren’t perfect but they are very nice and hard to come by. Receiver, Turntable and other items in the photos are not included. I don’t mess around. Sale is final once they leave my property. Up for sale, a 1969 Fender Bandmaster Reverb “Drip-Edge” vintage tube amp head in exceptional condition and in perfect working order. Essentially providing the same features as its reverb-less predecessor, the Bandmaster Reverb boasts 40 watts of tube power via a pair of 6L6 power tubes and a host of preamp tubes as well. The amp excels at delivering big, bold clean tones and pushes into sweet tube overdrive after around 5 on the volume dial. The reverb is lush and splashy, and the tremolo has a nice strong chop. The circuit is extremely original, with all of the stock Schumacher transformers present. The transformer date codes range from early to mid-1969, and the preamp is completely untouched as well, with original CTS pots except for one replacement. Aside from one replacement ceramic power tube socket , the entire original tube socket set is intact and still functioning as it should. Cosmetically, this head is very clean for its age with a few small tears in the original smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth with turquoise thread. The faceplate has plenty of shine with all of the stock witch hat knobs, and the grillcloth shows only very light aging from the past nearly 50 years. All original hardware is present including the raised Fender logo, corners, and handle caps, and the hardware shows only light surface patina. The Fender Super Reverb 45-watt tube combo guitar amplifier was offered in a silverface finish between 1968 and 1982, Well-known for its scooped mids, the Super Reverb features the same design as the Fender Super, but with the addition of built-in reverb and tremolo effects as well as four 10 speakers.
