Vintage Tube Amp

After Much deliberation I have decided to part with this little monster. Not much info out there on this one so I’ll tell you what I think I know. It was sitting around in the basement it was used and dusty and had not seen the light of day in a few years. I plugged it in and it fired right up and sounded great. I’ve got a lot of great deals on gear throughout the years but this was one of the best and one that I’ve kept the longest. These were made in japan in the early 60′s. It is hand wired, all vacuum tube. The speaker is 3w 80hm and 5 1/2 paper cone. Tubes are one 6AR5 and two 6AV6. I’ve never replaced the tubes and assume they are original. I guessing the power output is 5-10watts but I don’t really know. It appears to be all original with only a few cosmetic issues. The chrome cover for the Strap handle is missing and there are paint rubs and dirt smudges here and there. The grill is perfect without rips or stains. The red vinyl covering is also in very good shape, without any major rips or holes. The amp has never had any repairs or modifications to my knowledge. This thing sounds great. The paper cone speaker breaks up very musically. It handles pedals surprisingly well. I did find a youtube video of someone playing a similar amp if you want to check it out. Takt Amp and Ampeg Heavy Stud Guitar on youtube I’ve used this in the studio and it records fantastic. It can get a little noisy depending on pedals you use in front and what its sitting next too. But those have always been easy issues to solve. That being said Im not going to let it go without a fight. I don’t see any currently for sale anywhere online. I’m going to start at the low end of the middle and see where it goes. I have other amps that I don’t like near as much (pignose, Marshall, & mesa boogie) that I will be listing soon along with some other instruments and gear, so stay tuned (gotta thin the herd). Up for sale, a 1965 Silvertone model 1485 piggyback tube amplifier in excellent condition, freshly serviced and in perfect working order. A vintage USA-made amp crafted by Danelectro for Sears’ house brand Silvertone, the amp features the original dolly and sextet of matching Jensen C10Q speakers, loaded with a new properly biased small bottle Tung Sol 5881 (6L6) power tube quad. The 1485 as advertised by Silvertone pushes a whopping 120 watts, but stripping away the marketing, this amp functions closer to 100 watts via the power tube quad. Extremely powerful and articulate, these amps have much more headroom, punch, and top end response than the smaller 1484, and can produce both bold cleans and roaring overdrive. The smooth articulate crunch of this model has found favor with players across the spectrum, and it responds very well to pedals too. Both channels feature a pair of inputs (high and low) and both channels share the built-in Reverb and Tremolo effects. While the Tremolo has a nice strong pulse that gets quite thick and deep, the Reverb is infamous in its own right for its thin, trashy sound that’s perfect for lo-fi and surf tunes, with a unique gain structure and chiming top end character. The circuit has been thoroughly overhauled by our in-house techs here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar and the amp is a robust, gig-worthy machine, featuring a fully recapped power supply while retaining a bevy of original capacitors and carbon comp resistors. The stock output transformer is intact, while the power transformer is a heavy duty replacement, along with a modern Heyboer choke. The original CTS pots date back to the 32nd week of’65. The speakers are a particularly clean sextet of original Jensen C10Q 10 drivers, with minty black frames and 1965 date codes. Two of the speakers feature brand new cones, while the other four are original. All of the original barrel knobs are intact on the polished aluminum faceplate, which also retains all of the original black silkscreen text. The amp retains its original charcoal covering which shows some honest wear on the edges of the cabinet and head enclosure, and the original grillcloth has plenty of sparkle in the gold thread. The head secures into the back of the cabinet with the original swiveling nylon tabs, and even the original dolly is included, secured to the bottom of the cab. This is a Beautiful Vintage 1967 Fender Super Reverb Tube Amp. It in Very Good Condition and Fully Functional. The circuitry employs an All-Tube design. Sound-wise, the Amp is Amazing. Very touch sensitive and reactive to a player’s pick attack and the guitar’s volume control. The Fender Super has Reverb and “Vibrato” (actually tremolo). The Reverb gets massive quickly. Plenty of traditional, Fender style drippy spring reverb. The 4-10 speakers are Original and a great compliment to the amp’s tone. This Super Reverb is a clear example of why these amps have been loved by generations of guitarists. It has an exceptional ability to deliver a loud, warm tube sound. FANTASTIC VINTAGE MCINTOSH AMP MODEL MC60 MONO BLOCK TUBE AMPLIFIER – WORKS!! This is a super nice vintage McIntosh MC-60 Mono block tube Amp in original condition. I believe the resistors and capacitors are all original. Currently no service is needed as far as I can tell on this Amp. She is in good working condition. But remember this is a vintage item so keep an open mind to possible service and/or repairs. Down the road you might consider a restoration and tube upgrade. The paint on the transformers looks original, however one spot was touched up with black paint. Overall they look good showing just minor scuffs and scratches. Stickers and plaques look great. The chrome looks great as well with the normal minor pitting and surface rust you would expect to find on a vintage McIntosh Amp. The black lettering is in fantastic overall shape showing only minor wear and tear. The mixed tube line-up is… 1x 6550A & 1x 6550 marked USA. 2x 5U4G”B” (Not A) one is a Sylvania the other is marked USA. The center guide post pins are broken off on the 6550′s. This is a common occurrence and not a big deal. The tubes are marked with a black Sharpie dot. The overall Cosmetic condition is excellent showing only minor scratches/blemishes and normal wear consistent with age and use. Please look closely at the pictures as they are part of the description. Due to weight this is a NO return item. This Serial number on this little beauty is 2F471. The tubes pictured and listed are included. The attached A/C power cord is in great condition. This amps works as it should and was tested under basic conditions.
