1998 Marshall 1987X MKII 50-Watt Plexi Guitar Amplifier in excellent overall condition. This Made in England plexi is built to last forever and it works perfectly with zero issues. It was recently serviced and sounds outstanding! It has a few very tasteful mods that were professionally done, including a PPMIV Master Volume, an optional push/pull Bright Cap mod on the Lead Volume, a common ground bus, and new main power tubes. Everything else is all original. The PPMIV Master Volume is located where the Presence knob normally is and allows for ultra high gain at bedroom levels. Since this 50-watt amp is so loud, the master volume is a welcome addition. The Presence knob has been moved to the rear. The push/pull Bright Cap is located at High Treble Loudness 1 and is completely disengaged when pushed in. When pushed out it adds extra brightness to the high frequencies resulting in extra gain and it sounds glorious. The common ground bus makes the amp completely silent and all volume levels and lowers for much more clarity in your sound. The original tolex is in good condition overall with a couple small tears and scuffs here and there but nothing major. The handle works perfectly. Marshall Vintage Reissues Sound Exactly Like the Original! Though the 50-watt Marshall 1987X shares the same front and rear panel features as its big brother, the 1959 SLP, it does have its own distinct personality. Sweet warm singing sounds are packed into every nook and cranny of this great tone machine. Mix two channels together for a totally unique sound. Vintage Marshall through and through. Mix two channels together for a totally unique sound With the Marshall 1987X, you can mix the two channels together by connecting a short, screened patch lead between the second input of channel one and the first input of channel two. If you then plug your guitar into the first input of channel one, you can mix the different tonal characters of each channel for greater flexibility! Up for sale, a 1978 Marshall JMP 2204 Master Model 50w Mk II Lead vintage tube amplifier head, freshly serviced and sporting the original fawn tolex. Produced in the proverbial “sweet spot” for late’70s Master Model JMPs, this 2204 features cascading preamp gain and the kind of rich, muscly, ripping textures synonymous with AC/DC’s renaissance. At 50 watts, the amp has plenty of power and crunch, and the Master Volume is an infinitely usable tool for creating natural sounding drive at a variety of volumes. Conversely, turning the Master to 10 and dialing in the Preamp Volume to taste yields more Plexi-like textures. The EL-34 power tubes are Marshall’s signature valve of choice and have ample sizzle and headroom, and this amp is fitted with a brand new properly biased pair from Electro Harmonix. As the back panel of the amp can attest, numerous mods were removed and cleanly plugged. The chart on the chassis has a handwritten January, 1978 test date. The chassis itself is quite clean, with a faceplate that retains all of the original black silkscreen lettering and a full compliment of original knobs. The original fawn tolex shows plenty of scuffs and minor tears, yet the large Marshall logo on the face of the amp is fully intact. All of the original piping is present too, along with the original plastic corners and feet. A new vintage-spec handle has been installed. Up for sale, a 1984 Marshall JCM800 model 2203 “Mk II Master Model 100″ vintage tube amp head in excellent condition and in perfect working order. One of the first Marshalls to feature the pre-phase inverter Master Volume circuit, this early vertical input JCM800 allows the preamp to saturate and deliver searing crunch at club-friendly volumes. Of course the amp really excels when you dial up both the preamp gain and volume for a thick crunch. The circuit is clean and stock, with original Drake transformers. The chart on the chassis has a handwritten 3-29-84 test date. The amp features a new quad of freshly biased EL34 power tubes, and a trio of modern preamp tubes as well. The chassis itself shows some oxidation and light surface wear, while the gold faceplate is quite clean with all original knobs intact. There is modest wear through the black silkscreen graphics, particularly above the knobs and adjacent to the inputs. An extremely rare iteration, this Marshall was originally imported to Japan. Curiously, the amp was never wired for anything but USA 120v power, and the amp has recently been fitted with a modern three-prong power cable (the polarity switch on the rear panel has been disconnected). The original tolex shows only a few small tears and nicks on the back edges of the enclosure, and the original large Marshall logo is fully intact. The Low range equates equates to the performance you would come to expect from a stock vintage Marshall amplifier in terms of tone and available gain. The High range adds an extra preamp valve into the signal path, facilitating those classic hard rock tones of the seventies. Add to this the ability to dynamically interface with your instrument’s Volume and Tone controls and the experience translates into a truly expressive and organic feel in performance. Two frequency selective Pre-amp Volumes (Gains) – Body and Detail – facilitate greater flexibility in tone shaping for individual guitars and styles while the power amplifier is heavily influenced by the first Marshall amplifiers to be produced, with four KT66 output valves yielding that substantial, fat and smooth tone. A MID Boost switch on the front panel fattens the tone even more while a traditional Marshall tone control circuit enables fine tuning of your sound. A master volume has been included in order to practically manage the output levels at all venues. This is implemented after the phase splitter in order to fully exploit maximum preamp drive when the master is turned down low. A reverb level control mixes the on board plate reverb with the direct signal to whatever degree the player chooses. The reverb can be toggled on and off via the footswitch. Finally, a series FX loop is provided for those players who wish to use outboard effects to further enhance their sound. Loop levels of 10dB and +4dB can be controlled via a rear panel switch as well as the option to completely bypass this feature if it is not required.
