Die-cast anodized aluminum knobs, nice condition, original 98. Controls are tight/secure 99. All shafts are straight 99. All original transformers 100. All solder joints rate 95. No chips or cracks in AC inlet socket (non-polarized) 99. All controls, sockets, and switches have been cleaned with Deoxit 99. 14 capacitors replaced (and other work done by Vacuum Tube Valley Charlie Kittleson in 1998) 99. Presenting a pair legrndary of rare 1950s H. SCOTT 240 MonoTube Power Amplifiers. Cosmetics are excellent as yiu can see. They were both slowly variaced up. On one amp with all original silver cans. > the far left Silver can was getting hot so we shut that one down. Its gonna need the tall 40uf/40uf 300v can. The other amp had that can samev40/40 cap replaced at some point years ago with 4 outboard caps. This amp passed a nice clean signal with a CD player. After about 20 minutes the 4 cap bundle started getting hot so we shut it down. So the same 40uf /40uf 350v cap needs to be replaced. No chassis modification was done so if you want to install the original style can thats no problem. We are including 4 brand NOS Vintage set of Seimens Roher EL34s thet are labeled tested and inspected. We tested them anyway on our Hickock and they test excellent. There are also 4 top quality Telefunken 12AX7s on board. Two in each amp. The (2) Sylvania 5U4 rectifier tubes tested excellent. Definately the coolest looking pair of H. SCOTT Mono Amplifiers ever produced. Well engineered with the Branded signature cast Aluminium side panels. They should both be gone over by a qualified tech to be sure they are up to facrory specs. The other that has one of the cans replaced with 4 outboard caps passed a signal with full voltage. It didnt sound perfectly clean so that one will need to be serviced also. ATTENTION THE METAL BASE EL34 POWER TUBES SHOWN INSTALLED in the AMPS in the PHOTOS are NOT INCLUDED. We are inclusing a brand NOS vintage set of 4 Seimens Roher EL34s thet are labeled tested and inspected and 4 NOS CEI / Holland 12AX7s. P (see last photo). This is an estate sale find. Tested everything is working. All tubes light up. Crisp Clean sound no static. Volume knob doesnt turn the unit off, it does control the sound functionality but doesnt turn the unit on and off. Thats the only problem I found with this unit. All vintage tubes, preamp tubes are Telefunken ECC83 (12AX7′s), RCA 12AU7′s, tube rectifier is an RCA branded Scott tube. Some parts upgraded/replaced for improved reliability, most importantly the first multi-section cap of the power supply. The bottom metal plate was missing when I got it, so I had an aluminum plate machined to fit. I have put sliders on the bottom plate so that you can have the preamp be on your furniture without the wooden chassis. The sliders also help make the preamp more snug after sliding it into the wooden cabinet. Adjustable level trim pots for Tuner, Tape recorder, Extra (CD Player). Besides the Left and Right channel output, there is a Center channel output. There are a few marks or stains on the chassis and front panel commensurate with its age. Wooden cabinet is very basic one that fits many of the HH Scott amps including this one. But it is functional. I just slide the Model 130 in, nothing fancy. If you want to officially attach the pre-amp to the cabinet, that will be your project. All in all, this is a great tube pre-amp. It has always worked well for me (I have never used the tape recorder ins and outs). But it really sounds nice with beautiful stereo imaging. The Scott Model 130 pre-amp has an excellent reputation. Bought this from original owner about 15 years ago. I have used it since then for different lengths of time. It was never completely off for more than 60 days. Scott Kit LK-72 Vintage HiFi Amp w/ Original Mullard GZ34 Tube SN 167429. This amp is in beautiful condition. Please note that the printing on the front cover is very fragile, and some has rubbed off (see photos for details). The amp has the original Mullard GZ34 rectifier installed. Once of the 7591 tubes is missing, and the 12AX7 have been replaced with black plate 5751. We have made no attempt to power-on this unit or test in any way.
