SELMER TRUVOICE NEW STANDARD (TV8/T) C1960. Rare c1960 Selmer valve/tube amp. Serviced and sounding great with a full set of original Mullards. Tech report and more info on this amp below. Internal shots are in the photos. CONDITION: Has a few scuffs and the usual general signs of age but overall it is very good. See the photos for more information. A step-up transformer will be required for use on 110/120v supplies. Please ask if you need advice on what to use. We do not recommend using cheap, generic Chinese mains transformers. From Selmers Blood And Custard era: 5 watts with tremolo. Valves: EF86 (1), ECC83 (1), EL84 (1) & EZ80 (1) into a 10 speaker. Size 14.3/4 x 13.1/4 x 6.1/4, control panel inset into the top of the amp with 2 inputs and 4 knobs (volume, tone, tremolo speed & depth) & pilot lamp. The Standard (TV8), without tremolo had been established a year or so earlier, hence the New suffix for the later one fitted with tremolo. Valves are all good, all Mullard EF86, ECC83, EL84 and EZ80 rectifier. Tremolo a good strong trem; at high depth settings it will thump a little. Tremolo jack socket for footswitch added originally on a phono. The way the trem is designed they have used a fair bit of high pass filtering to remove thumping so theres not a huge amount of bottom end; the smallish speaker doesnt help with this either but it sounds pretty good. Once again, the grounding was not good, and they have put the input sockets too close to the mains switch. Theres always going to be some buzz from having the switch on the tone control, but adding some shielding between this and the input sockets has helped a lot. The back panel was very warped; some steam and a couple of hours being pressed flat has sorted this. I fashioned new catches as two of them were missing.
