Vintage Ampex stereo power tube amp from a console. Uses 4 6973 and 2 7199 tubes. Amp is working fine and puts out very nice sound. This thing has what looks like some of the largest transformers. Some pitting and dirty from sitting for a long time. Output tubes are rca and 7199 tubes. All vintage made in USA. This is one great sounding amp that’s pretty rare. VINTAGE AMPEX MODEL 2010 PP 10 WATT TUBE AMPLIFIER – 6V6 12AU7 6267, I brought this unit up on a variac to 73v with it showing a B+ Voltage of 206.2V in the pics with the amp passing signal quietly with no hum. This is an old stock amplifier and should have work done to it before it’s brought all the way up to full voltage. You get what you see. This Ampex “Fine Line” model 1250 reel-to-reel tape recorder still works and sounds great. It measures 15 inches by 13 inches by 6 inches, and original power cord and Ampex take-up reel are included. Exterior has been meticulously cleaned and is in good cosmetic shape, but does show some minor rust on the side edges of the steel faceplate. Record quality was very good, and all inputs and outputs have been tested and work without humming or noise. Tubes have not been individually tested, no repairs, modifications or upgrades have been performed. See detailed photos for interior shots and to grade cosmetic condition. Vintage Rare Ampex 6973 Stereo Tube Amplifier Amp Refurbished Very Good Condition. This is a very hard to find 1960 Ampex 6973 stereo tube amplifier, it is a power amp and requires a preamp to drive it. It uses 2 – 7199 and 4 – 6973 output tubes, all 6 tubes are vintage RCA tubes (3 of the 6973 tubes are labeled “Knight by RCA”). There are two input level controls which allow you to adjust/balance the input from your preamp. There is also a balance (hum) control for each push-pull output tube set accessible from the top of the amp. There are screw terminals for the two speakers (8 ohm) and also screw terminals for a power-on indicator lamp. The ac power is fused. There are standard RCA jack left/right inputs. The 7199 tubes test strong and the 6973 tubes still sound great, but will need replacing at some point, 2 of them test weak (right channel). I replaced all of the electrolytic and paper capacitors in the amp for long term reliability. I checked all resistors to confirm they were within tolerance and replaced 2 that weren’t. One of the output balance controls was intermittent, so I replaced both controls with new Clarostat controls. I also replaced the two silicon rectifiers with higher rated new ones for future reliability. I replaced the two safety capacitors (AC line to ground) with modern replacements. Other than some of the power supply caps are slightly larger in value, I did not modify the circuits in anyway. Rework is professional level. I added two terminal strips underneath to securely hold the new capacitors. The original capacitor can is no longer used, but was left to maintain the original appearance of the amp. Please make that decision before beginning any modifications to the amplifier.
