Electric Guitar Amplifier Head. This is the absolute cleanest all original Bandmaster that I own. I bought this in 1979 from my neighbor who is the original owner. He told me he played it for only a few days while trying to learn to play guitar. I added it right to my collection and never played it. Recently in August 2024, I took it to my amp tech who replaced the filter caps and checked out the general operation. It is all working and in great condition. All Original with cover. Serial # A 17175. Chassis Bottom Black Ink Stamp. (7th week of 1966). Cabinet Black Ink Stamp. (2nd week of 1966). (47th week of 1965). (4th week of 1966). It might serve the buyers purpose to bring up the power slowly with a variac since these used amp heads are over 50 years old and have not been used for a few decades. Our amp tech has only replaced the needed parts -(filter caps & power cords as specified) to just get them turned on and running for an hour. Please see a skilled amp tech before extended use. The operation of the amps requires that they be regularly serviced for optimal performance. 1965 Fender Bandmaster / Showman. Electric Guitar / Bass Amplifier Head. This is what I call a Showmaster. It is essentially a Bandmaster thats been converted to a Showman amp, putting out approx. I got this amp head many decades ago and took it to my amp tech back then who removed all unnecessary modifications, changed the filter caps, the power cord and ran it for an hour. He put two plugs in the back of the chassis where the holes were from the pots, which cover the first letter of the serial number. He restored the circuit back to original model blackface circuitry but retained the Showman modification. I have not ran or played it since. It’s been often said by many that this is not a practical modification as it can overload the transformers and cause many problems. That is not necessarily true and especially in this case since both the output transformer and power transformer are the same ones used in Fender Dual Showman and Twin Reverb amplifiers. I recently, July 2024, took it to my current amp tech who checked the circuitry and ran the amplifier for an hour and found no problems. This amp should be working fine. The cabinet was pretty beat up when I got it so this was one of my first attempts back then of recovering. I re-tolexed the entire cabinet but not knowingly, I removed all the staples holding the screen on and re-stapled with silver staples. I taped plastic over the tube chart which was falling apart and saw enough of the date code so I wrote it in with black marker (OD). I also changed all of the hardware with the exception of the piggy-back slide brackets. This is why the amp looks so clean, I wanted it to match the exceptionally clean faceplate. Serial # A 10155. Professionally retolexed and regrilled with vintage-correct materials and patterns, this Bandmaster is loaded with a modern pair of Jensen C12N speakers, while the circuit is 100% original. This 40 watt Black Panel Fender powerhouse has the powerful, balanced cleans and smooth tube overdrive at high volumes that you expect from a vintage Fender from this era. The cleans are warm and articulate, with Fender’s sparkly top end and the ability to dial in just the right amount of grit and light tube compression. The preamp retains all of the famed blue molded Ajax tone caps, essential to the sweet, musical sound of the Black Panel circuits, and the original Schumacher-made transformers all date to 1965. The Stackpole pots have late’65 date codes, and the tube chart rounds out the applicable dates with a “PB” stamp that translates to February of 1966. Even the original power supply caps are intact and still viable. The tube complement includes a brand new pair of properly biased 6L6 power tube pair, with a host of mostly vintage valves in the preamp from the likes of RCA and Sylvania. The cabinet is stocked with a modern pair of Jensen C12N 12 speakers with immaculate deep green frames and original cones. The cabinet has also been fitted with new sound dampening foam sheets. The head and speaker cabinet have been professionally retolexed with correct smooth black tolex, cut in vintage-correct patterns, along with new silver sparkle grillcloth on both enclosures. Both the head and cabinet retain their original raised “Fender” logos, and the gleaming hardware includes new nickel corners, handle caps, sphinx glides (feet), chassis straps, and chrome tilt-back legs. You simply won’t find a better vintage Blackface Fender at this price point, and the Bandmaster truly delivers on the promise of the AB763 circuit, with incredible cleans, smooth overdrive and strong tremolo! Vintage 1965 Fender Bandmaster Blackface AB763 Guitar Tube Amplifier Amp Head. This amp dates to early/mid 1965. The amp was fitted long ago with a 1964 Twin/Showman transformer to accommodate four power tubes to have the option for more power. Very much like a Showman now with a little more mid bite. The rest of the iron is all original dating to 1965. Operates as stock when using only two power tubes running at 40 watts. The feel is there and has all the great tone youd expect from a classic amp such as this. The tone stack on these blackface Bandmasters is such a killer tone and there is good reason why these are such classics. This particular amp is no exception. This one will make somebody very happy. No foot switch included unfortunately. Includes brand new set of JJ pre amp tubes and matched quad of Tung Sol 7591A tubes.
