Up for sale, a 1966 Silvertone 1481 vintage Class A tube amp in excellent condition. Freshly serviced, this amp features a simple single channel design with a 6V6 power tube and 8 Jensen speaker. Roughly equivalent to a Fender Champ, the 1481 offers sweet, sparkling cleans and overdriven grit. The point-to-point circuit retains the original transformer pair, the CTS pots have visible date codes from the 17th week of’66, and the original two-prong power cable is present. The 8 alnico magnet Jensen speaker is a later substitution, more powerful than the original speaker and dating to 1961. The cabinet retains its gray textured exterior, gold sparkle grillcoth and small Silvertone badge.

This boutique, USA-made 1×12″ tube amplifier packs particularly potent tone into a compact form factor, pushing 5 Class A watts via a vintage “coke bottle JAN-branded 6V6 power tube. Essentially a hot-rodded spin on Fender’s 5F1 Tweed-era Champ, the Space Tone Reverb has streamlined controls with a Hot/Clean switch that toggles between touch-sensitive, glassy cleans and absolute searing drive when pushed hard, with independent Hi and Lo inputs and lush, splashy tube-driven footswitchable Reverb. The circuit is hand-wired point-to-point, cathode-biased with premium componentry including carbon comp resistors, Mallory capacitors, cloth hook-up wire, and CTS potentiometers. The tube complement currently comprises a JAN 6V6 power tube, Bendix 5Y3WGT rectifier, two RCA 12AX7s and a 12DW7 in the preamp. The cabinet is loaded with the original Mojotone British Vintage Series BV-30H 12 ceramic magnet driver, and the tube chart is also intact inside the enclosure, dated 11/20/2007. The cabinet is built from finger-jointed solid pine, and cosmetic touches include a vintage-style jewel LED, black basketweave tolex, chickenhead knobs, and a salt-and-pepper grillcloth with Swart badge.
