Up for sale, a 1980 Fender Deluxe Reverb in collector-grade condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original two-button footswitch. One of the very last Silverface Fenders, this amp has the push/pull Volume Boost feature and a high wattage ceramic magnet CTS speaker, both of which weren’t available on earlier examples. Designed for maximal headroom given its form factor, this Deluxe excels at delivering sparkling, detailed cleans with ample bass response and plenty of treble kick. The amp pushes into overdrive past 5 on the Volume dial, with additional gain on tap via the Boost feature. The Reverb has a splashy, chiming character, and the Tremolo has a nice chop and wide range of speeds. The circuit is 100% original save for two capacitors in the power supply, and the preamp retains its full complement of molded blue capacitors. The Schumacher-made transformers all date to 1980, and the CTS pots have visible date codes spanning mid-1979 to mid-1980. The tubes include the full set of original Fender-branded preamp tubes as well as the 5U4 rectifier, while the power tubes are a fresh pair of Groove Tubes/Sovtek 6V6s. The original CTS 12 speaker has a clean black frame, blue foil Fender label on the ceramic magnet, and inked date stamp translating to the 40th week of’80. The tube chart is also intact on the inside of the cabinet. Cosmetically, this amp is extremely clean, with sparingly little wear on the original smooth black tolex or silver sparkle grillcloth with pale blue stripe. The turquoise text on the faceplate is pristine, and the full set of original witch hat knobs are present. All of the stock hardware is intact, including the handle caps, chassis straps, raised Fender logo with tail, and sphinx glides (feet). The original two-button footswitch is included.

Up for sale, a 1973 Fender Deluxe Reverb in collector-grade condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original slip cover, two-button footswitch and a full vintage tube set. This amp excels at delivering sparkling, detailed cleans with great headroom, and the lush reverb accentuates the chiming, smooth treble response. Both channels sound distinct and strong, and turning things up past 5 on the Volume dial introduces glassy overdriven textures and a touch of compression. Both Reverb and Tremolo are accessible via the included footswitch, and the Tremolo has a nice chop and wide range of speeds. The circuit is 100% original save for two small silver caps on the back of the chassis, presumably for a reversed effects loop mod. Otherwise untouched, the circuit retains its stock Schumacher-made transformers which have a particularly wide date spread. The choke dates to the 50th week of 1970, the power transformer to the 9th week of’72, and the output transformer and reverb transformer to the early weeks of’73. The preamp retains all of the original blue molded signal caps, and the power supply even retains all of the stock (and still viable) filter caps. The CTS pots have visible date codes from the 9th week of’73, and the chassis stamp reads May 3rd, 1973. The tube complement is original to the amp, with all RCA-branded valves save for a single GE 12AX7. The original Oxford 12L6 12 speaker has a clean black frame, blue foil Fender label on the ceramic magnet, and dated sticker from the 10th week of’71. The tube chart is also intact on the inside of the cabinet. Cosmetically, this amp is extremely clean, with sparingly little wear on the original smooth black tolex or silver sparkle grillcloth with pale blue stripe, which shows only modest darkening over the decades. The faceplate retains its turquoise text and full set of witch hat knobs. All of the stock hardware is present, including the handle caps, chassis straps, raised Fender logo with tail, and sphinx glides (feet). The original black vinyl slip cover with silkscreened “Deluxe Reverb” text is included, along with the original two-button footswitch.

Up for sale, a 1946 Gibson BR-1 combo amplifier in collector-grade condition and in perfect working order. This rare Gibson dates to the earliest days of guitar amplification, produced in limited quantities, with only a few hundred made between 1946-49. This particular iteration is also notable for featuring a green felt stenciled “G” on the aluminum grill, an extremely uncommon feature only seen on select few surviving amps and likely only used in first-year examples from’46. The BR-1 is arguably one of the most important amplifiers of the early days of rock and roll, and was the amp used by Danny Cedrone to record the iconic solo on Bill Haley & His Comets’ landmark Rock Around the Clock, the first rock and roll song to experience significant commercial success. This BR-1 pushes around 12 watts and offers distinct voicings via two Instrument inputs and a single Microphone input. The Microphone input is far and away the most aggressive, quickly pushing into fuzzy, sizzling breakup, while the Instrument inputs have more headroom and retain clean, warm sounds with a very pleasing chug that evokes the earliest days of rock and roll, particularly when paired with a set of single coils. The Tone knob has a limited sweep: rolling it off results in a slightly gentler, spongy sound, and when opening up the control this amp really starts to sing, with a full-bodied sound and just a touch of natural gain. Or, roll off the Tone and crank up the Volume for a thick wooly heft and roar similar to a classic fuzz box, particularly via the Microphone input. The amp retains the original transformer pair, and the power transformer dates to the 17th week of 1946. The original 12 field coil speaker is present, with the output transformer mounted to the speaker frame. There are only a couple modern capacitors in the preamp, and a three-prong power cord has been installed. The tube complement comprises a pair of JAN Philips 6L6WGB power tubes, a Tung-Sol 5U4GB rectifier, and an RCA 6J5 preamp tube. The amp retains its original smooth brown covering with only minor edge wear, and gold “Gibson” text is silkscreened on the top edge of the amp’s face. The perforated metal grill plate is extremely clean, retaining the green felt-stenciled “G” and original trio of brown Bakelite knobs. The original leather handle is also intact.

Up for sale, a 1962 Magnatone Custom 262 Jupiter vintage tube amplifier in collector-grade condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original footswitch and hangtag. Virtually identical to the 260 model, this Estey-era Magnatone was rebranded as the 262 Jupiter for the accordion market who were a large part of Magnatone’s client base in their heyday. The amp features an ostensibly original set of all vintage tubes, with a matched 6L6 General Electric power tube pair, as well as a 2×12 speaker configuration with original Oxfords and lush pitch shifting vibrato. This Magnatone features two channels with individual Volume and EQ controls as well as two-way Tone toggles for each channel. Driven by the aforementioned GE 6L6 power tube pair, the amp has a rich, lush sound capable of delivering both articulate cleans and overdriven roar when pushed hard. Of course at the heart of any Magnatone is their varistor-based true pitch shifting vibrato circuit, which is thick and watery, with a Leslie-esque swirl and unequalled dimension. As a top of the line Magnatone amplifier, the 262 Jupiter has a complex true point-to-point hand-wired circuit which is 100% original save for a couple new resistors and a single capacitor, fully vetted by our techs here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar. The circuit retains all of the original blue Ajax molded caps in the preamp and CTS pots that date to the 21st week of 1962. The original Schumacher transformers are intact, dating between late 1961 and early 1962. The GE 6L6 power tubes are properly biased and sound exquisite, paired with a Sylvania rectifier and preamp tubes from the likes of Telefunken and GE, all with nigh flawless silkscreen text on the glass. The amp retains its original pair of alnico magnet Oxford 12K5 12 drivers with very clean frames and original cones. The date stamps on the frames are from the 22nd week of 1962, matching closely with the pots and transformers. The original brown bindery cloth covering is exceedingly clean, especially notable on a Magnatone given the fragility of this material when compared to Fender’s tolex. There is very light edge wear, mostly relegated to the bottom 20% of the enclosure, and the original grillcloth is intact too with gold sparkle thread and the original Estey badge in the lower right corner of the baffle. The faceplate is quite well kept, with clean silkscreened graphics and all of the original barrel knobs. The amp comes complete with its original wooden wedge footswitch to engage the vibrato, as well as the original two-sided large Magnatone hangtag. Check out our shop “Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, ” and please let us know if we can answer any questions! Up for sale, a 1962 Fender Princeton in collector-grade condition and in perfect working order. This stunningly well-kept Brown Panel Princeton features the 6G2 circuit and a full complement of vintage tubes. The Princeton has a tone that is very dynamic and warm, with crystalline clean tones giving way to rich, saturated overdrive as you turn up the Volume knob. The circuit is as pure and straightforward as they come, and the single Tone knob has a surprisingly wide range. The bias based tremolo circuit has a strong, dimensional pulse and particularly broad range of speeds too. The circuit retains the original pair of Schumacher transformers with matching date codes from the 13th week of’62, and the preamp is extremely original with all of the original blue molded Ajax caps, which have a particularly sweet, musical tonal character central to Fender’s Pre-CBS amps. The original Stackpole pots are intact, and the larger multi-section can cap and smaller electrolytics in the preamp are modern high quality components to ensure optimal functionality. A three-prong power cable has also been installed. The tube complement includes a pair of voltage matched Sylvania 6V6s with a Philco-branded 5Y3 rectifier and vintage preamp tubes as well. The original alnico magnet Oxford 10JB speaker is intact with an extremely clean frame, original speaker harness, and date stamp from the 32nd week of’61. The original tube chart is well preserved inside the cabinet, retaining an “LC” date stamp which translates to March of 1962. Cosmetically, the original rough brown tolex has barely a scuff on it, and the original wheat grillcloth is also extremely clean. The faceplate is nigh flawless, retaining the original brown barrel knobs. Even the original leather handle is intact, as is all of the hardware including handle caps, chassis straps, and sphinx glides (feet). A modern replica one-button footswitch for engaging the Tremolo is included, along with a modern black padded cover.
