Vintage Tube Amp

1950s Collins 356B high gain tube preamp or program / monitor amplifier. Same circuit as the Langevin 117a. The original, excellent, ADC transformers are guaranteed but this unit has been untested and the original capacitors must be replaced before applying power. Fantastic preamp for high gain use (ribbon mics, etc) once restored. Datasheet, schematics and test harness included. Tubes included but untested.

Tested on my Hickok TV/7D. My testers were last calibrated by Dan Nelson in Nov, 2021. These tubes test at. Tube #1 tests at 50. Tube #2 Tests at 53. The minimum for a good 811A is 36. 36 equals approx 65%. These tubes test 90-96% NOS usually tests 50-55 on my tester. All my tubes are 100% satisfaction Guaranteed as described. No shorts or leaks. So Collins made some of the best sounding tube equipment from the late 1940s through the early 60s and this Collins 12Z is evidence of that. The build quality of this surpasses most other American makers of the time and rivals the German equipment made by Telefunken, EAB, and others of the same period. The 12Z is so overbuilt right down to the machined aluminum knobs. It is packed with transformers made by Thordarson, and attenuators by Daven. It is four inputs with a single output and will run on AC or batteries. All the transformers are. Good, it should be looked over by a tech to make sure all the caps are 100% before being used.
