1965 Silvertone 1485 Vintage Danelectro USA-Made 6x10 Tube Amp with Jensen C10Q

Up for sale, a 1965 Silvertone model 1485 piggyback tube amplifier in excellent condition, freshly serviced and in perfect working order. A vintage USA-made amp crafted by Danelectro for Sears’ house brand Silvertone, the amp features the original dolly and sextet of matching Jensen C10Q speakers, loaded with a new properly biased small bottle Tung Sol 5881 (6L6) power tube quad. The 1485 as advertised by Silvertone pushes a whopping 120 watts, but stripping away the marketing, this amp functions closer to 100 watts via the power tube quad. Extremely powerful and articulate, these amps have much more headroom, punch, and top end response than the smaller 1484, and can produce both bold cleans and roaring overdrive. The smooth articulate crunch of this model has found favor with players across the spectrum, and it responds very well to pedals too. Both channels feature a pair of inputs (high and low) and both channels share the built-in Reverb and Tremolo effects. While the Tremolo has a nice strong pulse that gets quite thick and deep, the Reverb is infamous in its own right for its thin, trashy sound that’s perfect for lo-fi and surf tunes, with a unique gain structure and chiming top end character. The circuit has been thoroughly overhauled by our in-house techs here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar and the amp is a robust, gig-worthy machine, featuring a fully recapped power supply while retaining a bevy of original capacitors and carbon comp resistors. The stock output transformer is intact, while the power transformer is a heavy duty replacement, along with a modern Heyboer choke. The original CTS pots date back to the 32nd week of’65. The speakers are a particularly clean sextet of original Jensen C10Q 10 drivers, with minty black frames and 1965 date codes. Two of the speakers feature brand new cones, while the other four are original. All of the original barrel knobs are intact on the polished aluminum faceplate, which also retains all of the original black silkscreen text. The amp retains its original charcoal covering which shows some honest wear on the edges of the cabinet and head enclosure, and the original grillcloth has plenty of sparkle in the gold thread. The head secures into the back of the cabinet with the original swiveling nylon tabs, and even the original dolly is included, secured to the bottom of the cab. The original two-button footswitch is included. Check out our shop “Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, ” and please let us know if we can answer any questions! We use double thick boxes, 1″ foam, and industrial 1/2″ bubble wrap to ensure that your amp arrives safely. Up for sale, a 1966 Silvertone model 1484 “Twin Twelve” piggyback tube amplifier, fully serviced and complete with the original Jensen C12Q speaker pair and full compliment of vintage USA-made tubes. Manufactured by Danelectro in the USA and marketed through Sears via their house brand “Silvertone, ” the 1484 was one of the top-tier department store amps of its day, and also an amp that’s found favor with todays players including Jack White and Beck. The 1484 “Twin Twelve” has an extremely smooth and rich breakup, with warm clean tones at low volumes that give way to a touch of tube overdrive at roughly half volume, and reach full tube saturation with a touch of compression anywhere beyond 7 on the dial. The circuit has been serviced with just a few new signal caps in the preamp as needed, and the power supply has been rebuilt with all new electrolytics as well, with a modern three-prong power cable installed as well as a conventional 1/4 female jack on the head for ease of use with other cabinets. The original power transformer is intact, and the output transformer is a modern, factory-spec replacement. The original CTS pots date to the 17th week of 1966, and the speakers are the original pair of C12Q Jensen 12 drivers which date to the 21st week of’66. The tube compliment includes a matched pari of small bottle GE 6L6s, along with the matched set of original Silvertone-branded preamp tubes, manufactured by the likes of RCA and Amperex. All of the original barrel knobs are intact on the polished aluminum faceplate, which also retains all of the original black silkscreen text. The original gray textured covering and gold sparkle grillcloth are intact. The cabinets show some modest edge wear, particularly on the speaker cab, yet the grillcloth has plenty of sparkle in the thread, and both the head and speaker cab are structurally sound. This amp is gig-ready and fully serviced for optimal performance and longevity. Check out our shop “Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, ” and please let us know if we can answer any questions! Vintage Silvertone 1333 Tube Type Guitar Amp 1956. I received this amp several years ago and it has set in my office since then. This must have been a barn find for someone, because it was exposed to moisture. The cabinet is very solid tho discolored. The speaker has some rust on the frame and parts of the chassis has some corrosion on it. I took the chassis out and it looked like previous work had been done with wrong value parts put in it. I’m sending the schematic with the amp. It shows all values and voltage test points. I recapped it using new tested caps. Three for the filter section, a couple of 25uf at 35 volts, a. 5 cap, and several resistors. No other cap were replaced. I sprayed the pots with DeOxit. I fixed the 6X5GT socket as one of the rivets broke so it is now screwed in. I replaced the power cord with a 3 prong grounded cord. I put a new leather (time period correct) handle on it. The feet were missing so I put on 4 new feet. I then gave it a gentle wipe down, nothing serous. The knobs for tremelo control were missing so I will put something similar on it. The cabinet is a little scuffed up. There is a Silvertone badge on the grill and the grill cover is not torn. None of the tubes were any good and so I put in a really nice set of tubes. The 6SC7GT is a bit rare as the base says it is a 6SU7WGT and the glass says it’s a 6SC7GT. It tests as a new 6SC7GT so it is going with the amp just because it sounds so good. Next I put it back together and turned it on with the volume turned down and went and got a guitar while it was warming up. When I got back, I put my ear by the speaker and heard nothing. I turned the volume up and heard what I hoped to hear, barley nothing. I plugged the guitar in, turned the volume up a little and this amp sounds great with lot of volume, tone and very quiet. The controls are very quiet as they are turned. The tremolo however is not working. The pictures tell the rest of the story and are part of the cosmetic description so please take a close LOOK at them. You will receive the item(s) pictured. This will be expertly packed with foam in place packs to help insure a safe arrival. The tubes will be placed in tube boxes and stored in the cabinet to protect them. We don’t mess around. We use new boxes and bubble wrap for packing. This leaves no mess in your office and you can just toss them when cleaning up. I will strive for positive five-star feedback from you by describing the item accurately, packing item so it will arrive safely and then sending you the tracking information when the item ships all of which we will do.
