Up for sale, a 1965 Fender Vibro Champ in exceptional condition and in perfect working order. This Vibro Champ has a number of early features including the Pre-CBS-era “Fender Electric Instrument” faceplate and no-logo grill. This little Blackface-era Fender wonder delivers five watts of pure Class A tube tone. A surprisingly loud amp via an upgraded alnico magnet 8 speaker, the Vibro Champ offers warm, dynamic cleans before pushing into smooth, lightly compressed tube overdrive as you turn up the Volume dial. Responsive to your picking dynamics, and absolutely huge sounding when you put a microphone in front of it, it’s hard to beat the Vibro Champ for pure simplicity and great tone. And of course, Fender’s lush sounding tremolo circuit has a strong pulse and wide range of speeds, perfect for subtle shifts in volume or machine gun chop. The circuit is completely original save for the a few smaller electrolytic caps in the preamp. The stock Schumacher-made transformers date to the 14th week of’65 (power) and 13th week of 1965 (output), and visible codes on the CTS pots date to the 30th week of’64. The tube chart is fully intact with an “OF” stamp which translates to June of 1965. The tube compliment includes a modern Groove Tubes 6V6 power tube, vintage GE 5Y3 rectifier tube, and matched USA-made Sylvania preamp tubes. The original smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth are extremely clean, with very little darkening of the grillcloth and sparingly little wear on the tolex. The faceplate is very well-kept too, complete with its full compliment of witch hat knobs. The stock handle caps, sphinx glides (feet), and chassis straps are all intact, and the hardware shows sparingly little surface patina. This Vibro Champ is an ideal example of Blackface tone that sure to delight both discerning collectors and serious players. 1965 Fender Deluxe Reverb Vintage Tube Amp Blackface Pre-CBS FEIC AB763 Circuit

Up for sale, a 1965 Fender Deluxe Reverb in excellent condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original two-button footswitch. Widely considered to be one of the greatest tube amps of all time, this Deluxe Reverb was made very early in the second full year of production for this model, with a “Fender Electric Instruments” faceplate, no logo grill, and date codes firmly placing this amp at the very tail end of the Pre-CBS era. Stocked with a matched pair of fresh Tung Sol 6V6 power tubes, this Deluxe delivers the shimmering, balanced clean tone that has made these amps a mainstay in studios and on stages for decades. The amp has a sweet, balanced sound that delivers the top end sparkle and clarity characteristic of the best amps from Fender’s Blackface era. This amp is very dynamic, working as a perfect platform for effects pedals and while the treble response can twang with the best, there’s a smoothness to the top end that keeps the amp from ever sounding harsh. Turning it up past 4 on the volume dial, the amp begins to push into overdrive territory with light compression and plenty of sizzle. The Reverb is lush with long decay and the Tremolo has a strong pulse with an almost three dimensional quality to the effect when you increase the intensity. The circuit retains all of the original Schumacher-made transformers (Fender’s primary transformer supplier in the Blackface era) with date codes from mid-1964. All but one of the original CTS pots are intact, also with visible date codes from’64. The preamp features a host of modern Sprague Orange Drop capacitors, with smaller Sprague electrolytic caps and low-noise metal film resistors throughout. The power supply has been professionally recapped with high quality Sprague Atoms, and a three-prong cable has been installed too. The speaker is a vintage Jensen C12R ceramic driver which dates to the 18th week of 1963, factory spec for this model yet a more recent substitution. The speaker has a clean frame and small Jensen foil label on the magnet. The original tube chart is intact inside the cabinet, with the “Fender Electric Instrument Co” text matching the faceplate, retaining an “OB” date stamp which translates to February of 1965. Cosmetically, the amp is complete with the original smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth. The original grillcloth shows only light, uniform aging on the no-logo baffle, an early feature which only lasted through the first few months of’65. The original faceplate is quite clean and retains a full compliment of witch hat knobs, and the all-important Pre-CBS Fender Electric Inst. Text is present on the faceplate. The tolex shows only some requisite stray nicks and minor edge wear, and all of the original hardware including the handle caps, chassis straps, and sphinx glides (feet) is present. The original two-button Reverb/Vibrato footswitch is included. Check out our shop “Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, ” and please let us know if we can answer any questions! Up for sale, a 1964 Fender Deluxe Reverb, very original and freshly serviced, complete with the original two-button footswitch. Widely considered to be one of the greatest tube amps of all time, this Deluxe Reverb was produced in the first full year of production for this model, with a “Fender Electric Instruments” faceplate, rare no logo grill, and date codes firmly placing this amp in the Pre-CBS era. Stocked with a matched pair of fresh Electro Harmonix 6V6 power tubes, this Deluxe delivers the shimmering, balanced clean tone that has made these amps a mainstay in studios and on stages for decades. The Reverb is very lush with long decay and the Tremolo has a strong pulse with an almost three dimensional quality to the effect when you increase the intensity. The circuit is very original and only serviced as strictly necessary to ensure optimal playability. A bevy of original blue molded Ajax tone caps are intact in the preamp (an essential part of the Blackface sound), and all of the original CTS pots are intact as well, dating to mid’64. The original Schumacher transformers date between the 31st and 33rd weeks of’64. The power supply has been professionally recapped, and the smaller bias and bypass caps in the preamp have been replaced as well, sleeved in their original hollowed out Astron wrappers. A three-prong cable has been installed too. The tube chart is present, with an “NI” date code which translates to September of 1964. The speaker is the original Oxford 12K5-6 with a clean black frame and date code from the 39th week of’64. One of Fender’s (and Oxford’s) rarest speakers, the 12K5-6 was only used in the Deluxe Reverb and this speaker has been recently reconed. Cosmetically, the amp is complete with the original smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth. The grillcloth has aged moderately since’64 and the Blackface faceplate shows very little wear with all of the black witch hat knobs intact. The tolex shows some wear at the corners corners along with some requisite stray nicks and scuffs, and overall this amp presents well. All of the original hardware including the corners, handle caps, sphinx glides (feet) and logo is present. The original two-button footswitch is included. Up for sale, a 1965 Fender Deluxe in exceptional condition and in perfect working order. Featuring the famed AB763 circuit and Pre-CBS features including the “Fender Electric Instruments” faceplate and early no-logo cabinet, this amp has an incredible amount of headroom and power, something that instantly sets it apart from its reverb equipped brother. Since the addition of the reverb effect into the Fender circuit essentially adds another gain stage, the non-reverb Deluxe really stands out as Fender’s premier 1×12 Blackface combo amp, with incredible warmth, EQ balance, and clarity. Perfect as a platform for pedals and an ideal amp for studio use, this Deluxe captures the quintessential Fender clean sound, with smooth tube overdrive and a hint of compression at higher volumes. The tremolo has a strong, even pulse as well, with a wide range of speeds. The circuit is extremely original, and the stock Schumacher-made transformers date to Spring of’65. The filter caps and smaller bypass caps have been replaced with top-tier Sprague components to keep everything operating within original factory specifications, and the circuit is otherwise untouched, with all of the original blue molded Ajax tone caps intact in the preamp. These caps are essential to the rich, musical quality of the Blackface-era circuits. The CTS pots are all stock as well and date to the 12th week of’65. The power tubes are a pair of vintage matched gray plate RCA 6V6s which have been biased to perfection and sound particularly good, along with a vintage 5U4 rectifier. The preamp tubes are a combination of newer and vintage valves, all working as intended. The speaker is a vintage Oxford 12L6 with a clean black frame and original blue foil Fender label on the magnet. The original tube chart is intact and particularly clean, with an “OF” date code that translates to June of 1965. The amp also is from only the 2nd production run of the Blackface Deluxe, making it a notably early example. Cosmetically, this is an extremely clean and well cared for amplifier, with original smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth. As the photos show, the tolex is extremely tidy and the faceplate is quite clean as well, with a set of minty witch hat knobs. This Deluxe would look great in a studio and is an example that will satisfy players and collectors alike. Stocked with a matched pair of fresh JJ 6V6 power tubes, this Deluxe delivers the shimmering, balanced clean tone that has made these amps a mainstay in studios and on stages for decades. The power supply has been professionally recapped, and the smaller bias and bypass caps in the preamp have been replaced as well. A three-prong cable has been installed too. The tube chart is present, with an “OD” date code which translates to April of 1965. The speaker is a vintage, era-correct Oxford 12K5-6 with a clean black frame and the original Fender blue foil label on the magnet. One of Fender’s (and Oxford’s) rarest speakers, the 12K5-6 was only used in the Deluxe Reverb and this speaker retains a very clean, original cone. Cosmetically, the amp is complete with the original smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth. The grillcloth has aged moderately since’65 and the Blackface faceplate shows very little wear with all of the black witch hat knobs intact. The tolex shows some wear at the corners corners along with some requisite stray nicks and scuffs and a single cigarette burn on the top, and overall this amp presents well. A logo was added to the grill and subsequently removed, showing a very faint outline of its placement, and an extra set of feet was installed on the bottom of the enclosure. Up for sale, a 1965 Fender Tremolux in excellent condition and in good working order. This vintage Blackface Tremolux is from production run #2 as noted on the tube chart and has a “Fender Electric Instruments” faceplate indicative of the very first “Pre-CBS” Blackface amps. The circuit has been serviced and the amp boasts a pair of vintage 6L6GC power tubes. The tone is stunning and quintessential Blackface Fender, with the perfect amount of clean headroom before the amp gives in to slightly compressed tube overdrive around 5 on the volume dial. The vibrato has a strong pulse to it as well and each channel has a similar voicing, although the Normal channel has just a touch more low end and midrange punch. The circuit retains all of the original Schumacher (Fender’s transformer supplier in the Blackface era) output transformer and choke which date to mid’65. The power transformer is a vintage Schumacher replacement which has a Fender part number and dates to 1967. The preamp features a combination of original blue molded Ajax capacitors and modern, high quality Sprague Orange Drops. The power amp has been professionally recapped as well. The power tubes are a matched pair of vintage 6L6s, and the preamp tubes are a mixture of newer and vintage valves. The stock CTS pots and chassis stamp date to 1965. The tube chart is intact with only light wear and a clean “OI” date stamp, which translates to September of 1965. The speaker cab boasts a pair of vintage correct Oxford 10L6 ceramic speakers. These speakers have black frames, original blue Fender foil labels, and original cones. Cosmetically, the amp retains the original silver sparkle grillcloth and smooth black tolex. The head is particularly clean with a minty faceplate and stock knobs. The nickel hardware shows moderate patina, with the original pat. Pending tilt back legs, piggyback clip bars and chrome thumb screws. The grillcloth on both the head and cab are uniformly aged as well. 1965 Fender Bassman Blackface Piggyback Vintage Tube Amp AA165 FEIC, Jensen C12N

Up for sale, a 1965 Fender Bassman head and matching 2×12 cab loaded with stock Jensen C12N speakers and complete with fresh Tung Sol power tubes and original RCA preamp tubes. 100% original aside from a new bias cap and three-prong power cable, this vintage Blackface Fender amp is a true AA165 circuit Bassman with a Pre-CBS “Fender Electric Instruments” faceplate and date codes between late 1964 and early’65. For clarity, warmth, and headroom, this Bassman excels at delivering sweet and articulate Fender clean tones. Once you reach about 5 on the volume dial, the circuit starts to overdrive smoothly and compress a bit, for a raw, thick sound that’s perfect for guitar or bass. It’s a simple and pure vintage Fender “piggyback” head and cab setup that provides a perfect platform for effect pedals, and is ready for stage and studio use. Arguably the circuit available for the briefest period of time in the Blackface era, the AA165 circuit designation is seen on many tube charts (Leo Fender was never one to waste anything), but under the hood, the actual AA165 circuit was only seen for a few months in early’65 before transitioning to the AB165 that would be seen through 1968. On this particular amp the tube chart still refers to the earlier AA864 circuit, but the chassis layout conforms to AA165 specs. The circuit retains all of the original transformers with a power transformer dating to the 46th week of 1964 and a power transformer that dates to the second week of’65. All of the original blue molded Ajax caps are present in the preamp and the amp even retains all of the stock filter caps which are working as intended with no leakage. On the inside of the head cabinet, the original tube chart is present with a “OB” date stamp which translates to February of 1965. The amp is fitted with a modern three-prong cable. The tubes consist of a pair of brand new and properly biased Tung Sol 5881 (6L6GC) power tubes, along with a trio of RCA 12AX7s and a General Electric 12AT7 phase inverter tube. The speaker cab is loaded with a pair of original Jensen C12N speakers, and these 12 drivers are arguably the most desirable speakers for the Blackface Bassman. These speakers are detailed, clear, and well balanced, overdriving with very rich and balanced overtones. The frames are very clean, the original gold Jensen/Fender labels are present, and both speakers have their original cones. Cosmetically, this is a clean and well cared for Bassman with original smooth black tolex on the head and speaker cabinet. The grillcloth on the cabinet is original as well, while the head has genuine vintage cloth with aging consistent to the cab. There are only a few requisite scuffs and nicks on the edges of the enclosures, as well as one small bald spot on the cab just north of the front left corner. All of the original hardware is present, including the tilt-back chrome legs, nickel corners, handles, sphinx glides (feet), and Fender logos. The faceplate is also quite clean and complete with original witch hat knobs. There’s a bit of light patina on the hardware as well as faint aging of the grillcloth on the cab in particular, but that’s about the extent of any wear! This Bassman is clean, complete, and works exactly as intended for delivering powerful Fender cleans and thick overdriven textures. Up for sale, a 1965 Fender Bassman head and matching 2×12 cab loaded with stock Jensen C12N speakers and complete with a host of vintage RCA and Telefunken tubes. This fully serviced vintage Blackface Fender amp is a true AA165 circuit Bassman with a Pre-CBS “Fender Electric Instruments” faceplate and early’65 date codes. Arguably the circuit available for the briefest period of time in the Blackface era, the AA165 circuit designation is seen on many tube charts (Leo Fender was never one to waste anything), but under the hood, the actual AA165 circuit was only seen for a few months in early’65 before transitioning to the AB15 that would be seen through 1968. The circuit retains all of the original transformers which all date to the first weeks of 1965 along with the CTS pots and chassis stamp. All of the original blue molded Ajax caps are present in the preamp and the amp has just been professionally recapped with new filter and bypass caps as necessary to keep the amp operating in tip-top shape. On the inside of the head cabinet, the original tube chart is present with a “OD” date stamp which translates to April of 1965. The amp is fitted with a modern three-prong cable. The tubes consist of a pair of vintage RCA 6L6GC power tubes, along with a trio of RCA 12AX7s and a Telefunken 12AT7 phase inverter tube. The power tubes are properly biased and sound particularly lush and hi-fi, and the Telefunken has a distinct tightness and headroom. The speaker cab is loaded with a pair of original Jensen C12N speakers, and these 12 drivers are arguably the most desirable speakers for the Blackface Bassman. These speakers are detailed, clear, and well balanced, overdriving with very rich and balanced overtones. The frames are very clean, the original gold Jensen labels are present, and both speakers have their original cones. Cosmetically, this is a clean and well cared for Bassman with original smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth on both the head and speaker cabinet. There are only a few requisite scuffs and nicks on the edges of the enclosures, and this amp would look great in a studio collection. All of the original hardware is present, including the tilt-back chrome legs, nickel corners, handles, sphinx glides (feet), and Fender logos. The faceplate is also quite clean and complete with original witch hat knobs. There’s a bit of light patina on the hardware as well as faint aging of the grillcloth on the head in particular, but that’s about the extent of any wear!
