Up for sale, a 1967 Fender Twin Reverb in collector-grade condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original Victoria Luggage cover, Fender catalog, and two-button footswitch. A nearly dead stock and minimally serviced example with a full vintage tube set, this Twin’s condition is all the more uncommon given its size. While Fender’s smaller combos of the era can occasionally be found in pristine shape, it’s significantly rarer to find Fender’s gig-worthy large combos (which generally saw much rougher usage) as well-kept as this example. This Twin delivers warm, articulate cleans with ample bass response, a wide-ranging and responsive EQ, and present, sparkling Fender top end. When it comes to the quintessential Black Panel Fender amp for clarity, headroom, and the balanced, authoritative response of a four 6L6 driven tube amp, it’s hard to beat the Twin. The tube-driven Reverb effect has incredible depth and splash, and the Tremolo has a strong pulse with a wide range of speeds. It’s as iconic a design as Leo Fender ever created, also very well-suited to amplifying pedal steel or electric piano in the vein of a Wurlitzer or Fender Rhodes. The circuit is extremely straight, retaining all of the original blue molded Ajax capacitors, a key part of the sweet, musical character of the Black Panel-era preamps. All of the original Schumacher-made transformers are intact, with date codes spanning mid-1966 to early’67. The original CTS pots have visible date codes from the 38th week of’66. The amp has a single new electrolytic capacitor in the preamp along with a new bias capacitor. Even the stock power supply caps are still intact and viable. The power tubes comprise three Sylvanias and a closely matched Fender-branded 6L6 with the same construction. The preamp features RCA, Amperex and GE-branded valves. The speakers are the original pair of Fender-branded Jensen C12Ns with clean black frames. The most popular (and relatively uncommon) vintage speaker option offered in the Black Panel era Twin, these Jensens offer excellent headroom, clarity and detail. The tube chart is clean and fully intact, with an “QD” date stamp that translates to April of 1967. The original black tolex is exceptionally clean, and the silver sparkle grillcloth shows minimal wear and modest darkening. The faceplate is notably well-kept, retaining a full complement of original witch hat knobs. All of the original hardware is present, including the chrome tilt back legs, nickel corners, sphinx glides, handle, and raised Fender logo on the amp’s face. The original two-button footswitch is included, along with the original Victoria Luggage-branded slip cover and the factory paperwork comprising the full color Fender catalog and a pair of schematics.

With good reason, the Vibrolux is one of the most desirable Fender models for its ideal size and power, well-suited to both stage and studio applications. The amp delivers sparkling cut and muscle, and a surprising amount of headroom, cascading into lightly compressed tube overdrive when pushing towards 10 on the Volume dial. Offering 35 tube watts through the original CTS alnico magnet 10 speaker pair, the Vibrolux is the perfect platform for getting the most out of a variety of guitars and stompboxes. Clean and sweet up til about 5 on the Volume knob (with a perceived volume that’s loud enough to keep up with an aggressive drummer), the Vibrolux has clear note attack and sweet tube rectifier sag, not to mention lush tube-driven Reverb and percussive Tremolo. The circuit is 100% original save for one capacitor, and all of the transformers are manufactured by Fender’s primary transformer supplier in this era, Schumacher, dating between late 1975 and early’76. Fully serviced, all pots, switches, jacks and tube sockets have been thoroughly cleaned, and even the original power supply caps are still viable. The preamp retains a full complement of original blue molded caps, and all of the original CTS pots are intact, with visible date codes from the 39th week of’75. The tubes are largely vintage, with a matched pair of Sylvania 6L6 power tubes and Fender-branded RCA-made valves in the preamp. The CTS alnico magnet 10 speakers are the original matched pair with black frames and (faded) blue Fender foil stickers on the alnico magnets. The date stamps on the edges of the frames are from the 22nd week of’76. These are also the same speakers seen in Super Reverbs of the era. The tube chart is intact inside the cabinet as well. The original smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth with orange stripe are intact and extremely clean, with uniform darkening of the cloth. The hardware shows light surface patina on the original handle caps, chassis straps, corners, and sphinx glides (feet). The faceplate is also particularly well-kept with a full complement of witch hat knobs. The original two-button footswitch is included.

Designed for maximal headroom given its form factor, this Deluxe excels at delivering sparkling, detailed cleans with ample bass response and plenty of treble kick. The amp pushes into overdrive past 5 on the Volume dial, with additional gain on tap via the Boost feature. The Reverb has a splashy, chiming character, and the Tremolo has a nice chop and wide range of speeds. The circuit is 100% original save for two capacitors in the power supply, and the preamp retains its full complement of molded blue capacitors. The Schumacher-made transformers all date to 1980, and the CTS pots have visible date codes spanning mid-1979 to mid-1980. The tubes include the full set of original Fender-branded preamp tubes as well as the 5U4 rectifier, while the power tubes are a fresh pair of Groove Tubes/Sovtek 6V6s. The original CTS 12 speaker has a clean black frame, blue foil Fender label on the ceramic magnet, and inked date stamp translating to the 40th week of’80. The tube chart is also intact on the inside of the cabinet. Cosmetically, this amp is extremely clean, with sparingly little wear on the original smooth black tolex or silver sparkle grillcloth with pale blue stripe. The turquoise text on the faceplate is pristine, and the full set of original witch hat knobs are present. This amp excels at delivering sparkling, detailed cleans with great headroom, and the lush reverb accentuates the chiming, smooth treble response. Both channels sound distinct and strong, and turning things up past 5 on the Volume dial introduces glassy overdriven textures and a touch of compression. Both Reverb and Tremolo are accessible via the included footswitch, and the Tremolo has a nice chop and wide range of speeds. The circuit is 100% original save for two small silver caps on the back of the chassis, presumably for a reversed effects loop mod. Otherwise untouched, the circuit retains its stock Schumacher-made transformers which have a particularly wide date spread. The choke dates to the 50th week of 1970, the power transformer to the 9th week of’72, and the output transformer and reverb transformer to the early weeks of’73. The preamp retains all of the original blue molded signal caps, and the power supply even retains all of the stock (and still viable) filter caps. The CTS pots have visible date codes from the 9th week of’73, and the chassis stamp reads May 3rd, 1973. The tube complement is original to the amp, with all RCA-branded valves save for a single GE 12AX7. The original Oxford 12L6 12 speaker has a clean black frame, blue foil Fender label on the ceramic magnet, and dated sticker from the 10th week of’71. The tube chart is also intact on the inside of the cabinet. Cosmetically, this amp is extremely clean, with sparingly little wear on the original smooth black tolex or silver sparkle grillcloth with pale blue stripe, which shows only modest darkening over the decades. The faceplate retains its turquoise text and full set of witch hat knobs. One of the most imposing and powerful vintage tube amps ever concocted by Fender, this Super Six Reverb essentially combines the circuit and chassis of a Twin Reverb with six 10 CTS speakers, identical to what you’d find in a Super Reverb. Well-kept and professionally maintained, this Super Six delivers detailed and powerful clean tones that easily fill a room and keep up with any band. The amp has sweet, musical overdrive qualities as well when you really push the circuit, and with the Master Volume the Super Six can be pushed hard for breakup or dialed back for use in more modest situations. Add Fender’s tube driven reverb and optical tremolo circuit and you have the perfect platform for a wide range of genres. The circuit features all original transformers which date to 1974, and the preamp is virtually untouched save for a couple modern Sprague electrolytics. Visible codes on the CTS pots date to the 2nd week of’74. The amp has been recently retubed as well with a matched quad of Tung Sol 5881 (6L6) power tubes, along with all of the original matched RCA preamp tubes. The sextet of original CTS 10 speakers are present with remarkably clean frames and blue foil Fender labels on the alnico magnets, all featuring viable cones. These speakers have clean date codes from the 18th week of 1974 on the edges of the frames. The amp retains its original smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth with orange stripe, quite well-kept and an ideal candidate for the studio. Given the sheer size of the Super Six and its stage-centric design, it’s very rare to see one as preserved as this example. There’s a bit of wear on the enclosure edges, and plenty of sparkle left in the grillcloth. All of the original hardware is present including the corners, handle caps, and chassis straps, all of which show uniform surface patina. The Silverface faceplate retains all of the original witch hat knobs, and even the original set of casters is present, mounting on the side as per factory spec. Providing the general tonal character of a Twin Reverb, but boasting a tube rectifier and more manageable 40 watts of power, the Pro Reverb is a 2×12 amplifier with enough volume for large ensemble situations and the perfect balance between shimmering Blackface cleans and smooth, touch-sensitive overdrive. A great platform for effects pedals too, the cleans on this Pro are balanced, clear, and warm. Of course once you reach around 5 on the volume dial, things start to compress slightly, and you get that dynamic, glassy sound that adds just the right amount of grit to your tone. Up for sale, a 1963 Ampeg R-12R Reverberocket in exceptional condition and perfect working order. The amp is complete with the original blue diamond tolex, Jensen C12R speaker, and footswitch, loaded with a bevy of vintage tubes including a matched pair of Hammond 6V6s. Under the oversight of Ampeg founder Everett Hull, Ampeg guitar amps were geared towards Jazz guitarists who wanted clean headroom and zero breakup, but according to former Ampeg employee Ken Fischer (long before starting his own company Trainwreck Amplifiers), there was one model that “slipped through the cracks”, and that was the R-12R Reverberocket. This amp has a fantastically spongy feel with plenty of chewy compression, thanks is large part to the octal preamp tubes (6SN7s and 6SL7s in this case), and picking dynamics are glorious, particularly when the amp is cranked to “edge of breakup” tones. The Reverberocket boasts footswitchable bias-based tremolo, along with onboard reverb (the first amp to do so, predating Fender’s Vibroverb by a year or two), which is thick and lush without sacrificing clarity. The circuit is extremely original, with only a few new Sprague Orange Drop capacitors and a couple 5W resistors in the preamp to keep everything working within original factory spec. The original CTS pots date to the 22nd week of’63, with one modern Alpha pot in the mix as well. Both transformers are original, manufactured for Ampeg by Electrical Windings and both dating to mid-1963. The date stamp on the edge of the original Jensen C12R speaker frame is from the 33rd week of’63, and the speaker has a particularly clean frame and original bell cover with minty Jensen foil sticker. The tube chart is intact inside the cabinet with hand-written tube designations and the original stamped serial number from’63. The tube compliment includes mostly vintage valves, with a matched pair of properly biased Hammond 6V6 power tubes. The chrome faceplate is quite clean, with the majority of the original white silkscreened text intact and just a speckling of light surface patina. All of the original knobs are present too. The original Blue Diamond tolex is extremely well-kept, showing only very minor edge wear and one small tear through the material on the lower right corner with a spot of blue marker touchup. The stock metal corners, feet, and raised Ampeg logo are intact, and the handle is original. The original two-button Reverb/Tremolo footswitch is included. Up for sale, a 1963 Fender Vibroverb in collector-grade condition and in perfect working order. An extremely original and stunningly clean example of Fender’s rarest and most desirable Blackface amp, the Vibroverb was only made in the Pre-CBS Fender era, lasting from late-1963 through’64. This is one of the very first Vibroverbs made, with an extremely low A003XX serial number, Production Run #1 stamp on the tube chart, transformers dating between Fall 1962 and Summer’63, and even a brown two-button footswitch, an exceedingly rare accessory only officially offered with the Brownface 2×10 Vibroverbs produced a few months before this Blackface model began production. Perhaps best known for its association with Stevie Ray Vaughan, the Vibroverb delivers 40 tube watts via a pair of 6L6 power tubes and a JBL D130F speaker. The tone is clear and powerful, with dynamic Fender cleans that sparkle and twang. The highly efficient JBL speaker keeps things clean and tight, with very little speaker cone distortion even at high volumes, letting the light compression and velvety tube overdrive of the circuit be heard with stunning clarity when you push the amp near 10 on the volume dial. The Reverb has plenty of splash and dimension with a long decay, and the Vibrato (technically tremolo) has a strong, smooth pulse. The circuit is extremely clean and stock, with all of the original Schumacher-made transformers intact. The rare open bell output transformer dates to the 42nd week of’62, while the choke and power transformer date to the 7th and 27th weeks of’63 respectively. Visible date codes on the Stackpole pots date to the 18th week of’63. The preamp retains its full compliment of original blue molded Ajax caps, a key ingredient of the sweet, musical sound of Fender’s Blackface circuits. The power supply features a professional recap of the main filters with F&T caps, and the smaller bypass caps in the preamp have been upgraded as well, along with the bias cap and pot. The original two-prong gray power cable is still intact. The tubes consist of a modern pair of Sovtek 5881 (6L6) power tubes, with a genuine vintage Mullard GZ34 rectifier and a host of modern and vintage valves in the preamp including a few RCAs. The tube chart is intact and very clean, with crisp corners and an “MK” date stamp for November of 1963. The original JBL D130F speaker has a recone with a WHF cone and proper aluminum dust cap, and the speaker has a full, robust sound with no voice coil rub and incredible articulation. Cosmetically, this amp is an absolute stunner which has likely lived its life in the studio, due to the absence of any notable cosmetic wear. The stock smooth black tolex is exceedingly clean, and the original silver sparkle grillcloth has only aged sparingly, with lots of sparkle left in the thread. The original hardware is all intact and clean, with only the faintest patina on a couple of the corners and on the original Pat.
