Condition Description: VG – Amp is in very good condition, original with no modifications. Runs great, works 100%. Fully functional with no damages. All parts including 2-switch and foot pedal, power cord, and all tubes included. The Gemini VI GS-15-R was a continued evolution in the Gemini Series. It is a single channel version of the Gemini II, with tremolo and echo, also featuring a fixed-bias power section that bumped up the output to 30 watts. Originally intended for the accordion and guitar, it found popularity among guitarists. This was called an “Ultra High Switch” it serves as a “bright” switch. Like other Gemini amps, this GS-15-R features the famed Baxandall type treble and bass circuits that both “boost” and “cut”, bass and treble, not just “cut”. The cabinet is divided between the power section and the speaker section, allowing the speaker portion to be fine-tuned with a smaller “port” type of opening in the back panel, while still allowing the upper “power section” to be more open and provide better cooling. The traditional Blue Diamond Tolex covering and brown grille complete the classic Ampeg styling. First off, this amp is amazing, it has been serviced. I had the caps and tremolo looked at, repaired, and 3 prong cord installed. Unfortunately, the reverb is not really working. The reverb signal is very faint. I have tried different tanks but no such luck. The tremolo is 100% and trippy as hell. It goes from vintage smooth to hard square-rhythmic chopping. WARNINGDaisy chain this amp and it WILL melt faces! The alnico CTS speaker looks original, or at least within the decade. Either way, like I said great sounding amp. A classic all tube vintage monster at a great price. Point to point, easy to access and repair, mod, whatever. Weighs around 35 pounds. The leather handle is a replacement. This 1966 Ampeg Gemini I is in very original condition except for the replaced speaker. I’ve owned it for about 15 years and have played it just enough to keep the caps alive. It doesn’t pop or crackle but a cap job / servicing is certainly in order. These amps are not Fender knock-offs, they have their own sound. This one gets very loud for an amp rated at 22-watts. Lots of cool features: Ampegs are known for awesome reverb — and this one definitely has that. By the time you get to 5, you’re underwater. Also, you get 2 different types of tremolo. Very’60′s sci-fi. That feature takes 5-10 sec to come on. When it does, you’ll know it! This is like the Bright switch on a Fender amp. This amp does clean sounds beautifully, takes pedals very well, and — one more thing — you can jumper the channels together. This amp will break up but not until it has gotten good and loud! Original speaker was AWOL when I got it. I’ve tried a few different replacements in it over the years. This Eminence Legend is a nice match, so it has remained. Original parts include Ampeg-branded 7591 power tubes. Ampeg circuit designs run power tubes gently, unlike Fender, so it’s not too surprising to see the originals still hanging in there. You are looking at a Vintage 1966 Ampeg Gemini II 30 Watt 1×15 All Tube Combo Amp. If you are into that 1960′s trashy rock sound, (Stones, Kinks) you’ll love this amp. In production from 1965 to 1968. Originally designed as an Accordion Amp. (What were they thinking). Though the Gemini II was intended for jazz (like the majority of the Ampegs of its day), this one somehow slipped past the Gatekeeper of Clean, head honcho Everett Hull. Theres something grimy, rich, and raw going on when you crank it up, and that opens a world of sonic possibilities beyond the archetypal smooth. To be fair, itll do smooth if you keep it down to 9 or 10 oclock on the dial, lulling you back into that mid-60s vibe. But, fast-forward nearly 50 years and these things make great avenues to original tones in the arenas of alternative, indie, blues-rock, Americana, and roots-rock. Get it cooking, and it also lets the listener know youre plugged into something other than the usual Vox, Marshall, or Fender-derived amp design. Of your blackface Super Reverb, JMI AC30, or JTM45 Bluesbreaker combo! Our Amp Tech serviced this amp. He cleaned all pots, jacks and tube sockets. Replaced one open plate resistor and a couple of caps. Added a 3-prong grounded ac cord. Everything functions and works great! You won’t spend any additional monies on this amp. Gig Ready on Arrival! Awesome sounding Ampeg Gemini II G-15 in great condition. Original 15 Jensen speaker sounds great and has a beautiful, deep reverb. Tolex is still in good shape with only minor wear. This is one of my favorite sounding Ampeg amps for guitar, but sounds great with bass as well due to the 15 speaker. Original handle has been replaced with a new one, but the damaged original will be included. Reverb sometimes takes a few minutes to work until the tubes have warmed up. Up for sale, a 1966 Ampeg Gemini G-12 in exceptional condition and in perfect working order. Remarkably clean and original with a complete vintage tube set and stock two-button Reverb/Tremolo footswitch, the Gemini G-12 is a two-channel affair with a warm and detailed range of tones. The cleans are robust, with great headroom and sparkling, snappy sounds that were designed with the Jazz player of the day in mind and tweaked for maximum fidelity. At full volume, the amp does push into smooth tube overdrive with some sizzle and roar, and the onboard effects are particularly noteworthy. As the company that pioneered onboard Reverb in their combo amps, it’s no surprise that this Ampeg’s iteration of this effect is lush and full with plenty of splash and great decay. Not to be outdone, the tremolo has a thick, choppy quality, and both effects are easily accessed via the included original footswitch. The circuit is virtually untouched, with original transformers that date to’66 and CTS pots which also date to the 15th week of the same year. Not a solder joint is out of place and the original green Cornel Dubilier caps are all present in the preamp. The speaker is the original Jensen C12Q with a clean blue frame, original foil label on the magnet bell, and date code from the 15th week of’66. The tube chart is also intact inside the cabinet. In terms of the tube compliment, the amp is outfitted with the original Sylvania-made and Ampeg-branded 6V6s along with ostensibly the entire original preamp tube compliment. Cosmetically, this amp is a real stunner with a faceplace so polished and clean that it made it difficult to capture the details of the original white silkscreened graphics which are completely intact along with the original set of knobs. The blue diamond checker covering is also exceptionally well kept and paired with the original silver sparkle grillcloth. Even the original leather handle is still in one piece!
