Up for sale, a 1960s Guyatone GA-930 vintage tube amp head in exceptional condition and in perfect working order. This rare Japanese-made amp is one of Guyatone’s higher tiered amplifier offerings, crafted by the Tokyo Sound Company. This GA-930 pushes roughly 35 watts, yielding a blend of clarity and warmth, with a full midrange and broad, spongy lows. The EQ knobs have a wide sweep, from treble-centric sparkle to darker, harmonically-rich sounds. Beyond 5 on the Volume dial, the amp is an absolute monster with rich, barking natural distortion. This amp features a dual-channel, dual-input design, and while the differences between the Normal and Bright channels are subtle, there is a touch more sharpness and shimmer in the Bright channel. Additionally, there is (independently) footswitchable onboard Reverb and Tremolo; the Reverb is splashy (and somewhat trashy), and the Tremolo has solid depth, with somewhat limited speed but a strong pulse. Controls include a Master Volume; Treble, Medium (Mid), and Bass EQ knobs; a Reverb knob; and Speed and Intensity knobs for the Tremolo. The circuit has been thoroughly serviced here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with all modern Sprague Orange Drop capacitors, and all modern smaller electrolytic caps in the preamp as well, ensuring the amp is operating optimally. The original transformers are all intact, and the power transformer has taps for both 100V Japanese power and 120V USA power. The tube complement comprises a matched and properly biased pair of Sovtek 6L6WXT+s in the power section and four 12AX7s in the preamp. The original two-tone tolex exhibits some requisite minor marks and scuffs, while the aluminum faceplate retains clean graphics and its full set of machined aluminum knobs. A footswitch is included.

One of the earliest Teisco amps made and only a couple are known to exist. Someone started to restore/refurbish the amp and replaced some capacitors and wire. The work was done well but was never finished. Cool piece of history and would make a great addition to any collection. Outer dimensions are 11″h x 9″w, 5d. Get it while you can, the chances of finding another one are slim to none. A must have for any Teisco collectors.

Up for sale, a 1972 Guyatone Reverb Jazz GA-1050 2×12 combo amp, freshly serviced and in excellent condition. Produced during the “lawsuit” era of Japanese guitar/amplifier production, this Guyatone combo is an extremely faithful copy of a Silverface Fender Pro Reverb, complete with “drip edge”-style aluminum trim. Loaded with a pair of EHX 6L6 power tubes and the original pair of “wideband type” Japanese-made alnico speakers, this Guyatone delivers glassy, balanced cleans very much in the vein of a Pro Reverb, with smooth, lightly compressed overdrive when pushing the amp towards 10 on the Volume dial. The Reverb Jazz GA-1050 features a dual-channel, dual-input design, with footswitchable Reverb and Tremolo on Channel Two. The amp retains all of its original transformers, and the power transformer has taps for both 100v and 117v operation, with a voltage switch on the back of the chassis. The original Japanese TBM pots are all present as well, with visible date codes from the 43rd week of 1972. Freshly serviced by our techs here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, this amp has been fully recapped to ensure ideal performance. All component voltages have been tested to ensure optimal functionality, and additional maintenance includes spraying out all pots and tensioning tube sockets. The original two-prong power cable is present, and a three-prong can be installed at no charge at the next owner’s discretion. Beyond the Electro-Harmonix 6L6 power tubes, the amp features all vintage Japanese-branded preamp tubes (likely original to the amp). Fender-style cosmetic touches include smooth black tolex, silver sparkle grillcloth with “drip edge” aluminum trim, a “Silverface” faceplate with turquoise silkscreen graphics, and a raised Guytatone badge. There is only light wear on the tolex and modest darkening of the grillcloth. Hardware includes the tilt-back legs, casters, and “Rhythm Machine” serial badge (72-prefix serial translates to’72 production).

[Product name] FLIP-1500 / MODEL GA-1500. [Size] Width: 45cm Depth: 25cm Height: 40cm Weight: 16.2kg. Please note that the measurements are taken by an amateur. The speakers are genuine. There are no accessories included. There were no problems when it came to sound, but I cannot answer questions about the names of the vacuum tubes or their condition. I couldn’t detect any crackling that would interfere with playing, but since this is a vintage amp, I wouldn’t recommend it to those who are sensitive about such things. As sound is a matter of personal preference, I will refrain from commenting on it, but this was a product that was highly acclaimed as a domestically produced vacuum tube amplifier at the time, and it is still one of the vintage amplifiers with many enthusiasts today. The texture of the distorted sound reflects the trends of the time when it was released, so some people will like it and some will dislike it. I think the best choice is to use it in clean mode to enjoy the unique characteristics of a vacuum tube amp, and combine it with modern effects as needed. International Buyers – Please Note. Thank you for your understanding. If you have any questions, please send us a message at anytime.
