Vintage Tube Amp

Vintage Masco MA-25 amplifier tube head harp guitar amp etc PROJECT! This is an old Masco MA-25 MA-25 all-tube amplifier. Originally a PA head, but in recent times many have been converted for guitar or harmonica use. This one has never been converted. UNTESTED and can be presumed to be currently not working properly. I don’t see any obvious replaced parts (I think those Sprague orange drops could be original but that is a guess) so I didn’t plug it in; I’m sure the capacitors will need either replacement or possible reforming and I have not attempted that. Also, it still has the original multi-pin speaker jacks and I don’t have anything to use with those. Also, the inputs are screw-on style except for one RCA input which is for a mono phonograph. I hate to put things IN CAPS but I’m really trying to avoid someone getting this, deciding it’s too much work and then returning it. You can see cosmetically it looks pretty good. Missing two of the six screws that hold the bottom on but the four present do the job. I did test the tubes and all the small tubes (the 7 series preamps) test at 100% or better on my B&K 707 tester (which doesn’t mean that if you use your tester you might not get the same results as testers vary); the 5U4 rectifier also tests strong. One of the 6L6 tubes tests in the questionable range (around 60%) , other a bit better so you should plan on new power tubes anyway. Power cord possibly replaced as it looks newer. There is some finish damage and wear to the chassis and cover but overall it looks pretty good cosmetically and the Masco logo is intact. The maroon knobs are original. Could be a good project for someone with the skills and time but if not you should find someone with experience (Skip Simmons is maybe the top guy in the country for Masco restorations). _gsrx_vers_1233 GS 8.1.1 (1233). Vintage Old Kraftsman Tube Amplifier Harmonica Harp Guitar Amp AS IS. Amp powers on and passes signal. Sounds great at a low volume but anything above 2 or 3 distorts is noisey beyond a usable point. Could be an issue with the speaker could be something else. As far as we know this is all original. All sales are final. Completely restored 1948 Gibson GA25 vintage tube amp combo. This amp sounds truly heavenly! Original Jensen 12″ and 8″ alnico speakers have been reconed by the good guys at the Circuit Shop. Both have early’48 date codes. All out of spec parts have been replaced with highest quality parts. Red Jupiter coupling caps. Sprague Atom and CE electrolytics. Carbon comp resistors on the few that were actually out of spec. Both pots have been opened and thoroughly cleaned and lubed. Still has the screw on shield for the inputs that most of these are missing. The wiring going to the speaker mounted output transformer was starting to crack in places, so I covered the 3 wires with heat shrink tubing for safety. 3 prong power cord. All vintage tubes, two-6J5s and 5Y3GT which I believe to be original RCAs, RCA 5693, which is the ultimate 6SJ7, and two Sylvania 6V6GTs. All test very good on my calibrated Hickok 6000A. The 6V6s are perfectly matched in circuit. Amp will be professionally packed up by UPS Store. First half of video is with volume halfway up, second is fully cranked. I have completely gone through the amp and recapped the entire power supply and replaced all the tubes with new or NOS parts. It originally had the old school screw on mic connectors but I have replaced them with locking neutrik parts for 1/4 input. This is about a 30 watt amp using two 6L6 tubes. I built a cabinet for it out of two old 15 Baldwin organ speakers and it gets plenty loud. Anything over about 2/3 volume starts to get muddy. It has a single knob for the tone control. Speaker impedance is changed with the terminals on the back. I did not modify the circuit from stock, I just replaced anything that had failed or was close to failing and changed the input jacks.
