For sale: one vintage Altec 129A tube amplifier. This amplifier features Peerless input, output and power transformers: models 4665, 16441 and 6302, respectively. The 4665 input transformer (a K-241D mounted on an octal tube base) in particular is highly sought after, considered a “holy grail” among vintage audio transformers. The amplifier itself is in so-so condition. A few wires inside the chassis have been cut, volume knob is frozen in place, lamp missing, etc. The transformers all test good, however, no shorts. The plastic key on the 4665 transformer octal base is broken, but still visible to ensure proper orientation. Amplifier was briefly powered on and tested for operating voltages, B+ and filament voltages successfully detected. No further testing was performed.
