I’m happy to be listing a Beautiful Pair of Vintage Mcintosh MC60, 60 Watt Mono Block Tube Power Amplifiers that come from a relative who was an avid audiophile. The amplifiers have been in their home for the last 50 years or so. Very nice original condition and still sound amazing! That beautiful Vintage Mcintosh tube sound- warm, bold and clear. Classics among Vintage Hi-Fi Collectors. Units underwent a thorough testing by a highly experienced tech in the NYC area very familiar with Vintage Audiophile Tube Equipment. Voltage was brought up very slowly using a Variac to protect the capacitors. As you can see from the interior photos, both units are very clean, unmolested and contain the original components,’Bumble Bee’, Sprague Black Beauty capacitors etc. Units are in excellent cosmetic and working condition. Serial no’s: 5F405, 5F541. As you can see from the photos, units are very clean. The controls are smooth and noise free; all the terminals are sound. Original screening letters are nearly perfect on both units. McIntosh Logo is perfect on both units. Chrome is very clean with only some minor imperfections. McIntosh side label perfect on both units. A few scratches/chips on transformers and on one side panel – see closeup photos. The blotches/smudges visible on capacitor cans in photos are removable with a bit of cleaning solution. Amps have been cleaned up for photos. A little polish will really make them glow! Light scratches/blemishes on one transformer and a bit on one side panel ; chrome shows slight pitting near transformer and a bit near rectifier tube section. Bottom panel has scratches – see closeup photos. A couple of small scratches on one transformer. Chrome has only a few very small blemishes. Tech replaced part M1 Selenium Rectifier, R35 Resistor on left unit ser. New, Matched/Burned In Quad of Genalex Gold Lion KT88/6550 Tubes. Remaining Tubes are Vintage ca. 60s and 70s – All test Good, most test Strong. RCA Black Plate 5U4 GB (GA) (4). RCA 12Ax7 (3) – 2 date codes show CG, FZ. RCA + GE 12BH7A. Over all, this Pair of Mcintosh MC60 Amplifiers are in very nice original condition, look good together and still sound amazing! As these are vintage power amps, over 50 years old, after your initial testing, I cannot make any other claims as to how long they may continue to function. Once you decide to put units into long term use, a qualified technician should replace any parts that would warrant replacement. And your satisfaction is my top priority. With the exception of the power cords, I believe this pair to be in all Original condition. These are just 2-components that are from a house full of Electronics that were part of my late Uncle’s huge estate of Vintage Stereo / Hi-Fi Equip, Speakers, Parts & Accessories. These amplifiers had been stored in a closet for some time and were tubeless. Further searching revealed a huge box of vacuum tubes including the box of pictured set Electro-Harmonics tubes that were apparently intended for these two MC60 amplifiers. Judging by the appearance of the tubes & their boxes, its logical to assume these tubes were in fact unused. So, I installed all of the tubes in their appropriate positions, connected both amplifiers to a matching McIntosh pre-amplifier, connected a CD player & some old B&W speakers and listened to a variety of CDs at different volume levels for approx. Both amplifiers sounded clear to me with equal amount of volume and nothing changed. I have zero experience with tube equipment. I do realize however because of their age, at least 60 years right? That any internal part or tube can fail at any time. So be advised, both should be inspected, perhaps adjusted and / or up-dated for Best preformance by a qualified technician or experienced hobbyist. Certainly with someone having more knowledge & experience than I have concerning these vintage components. Cosmetically both Amplifiers have issues. But I feel they are in great condition considering their age. I truly did my best to provide revealing pictures for all to see. You know, it certainly isn’t easy to get great pictures considering the reflective nature of the Chrome Chassis. So please examine all pictures and judge for yourself and ask questions? Anyway, I’m sure ultimately that someone can have many years of enjoyment with these preserved & unspoiled classic pair of McIntosh Stereo history. Even though both will be very carefully packed, It’s always possible for items to sustain shocks that alter their working condition & at the same time result in no obvious physical damage, OR for a part to fail simply due to age.
