Vintage Tube Amp

Here’s a fabulous vintage VM tube amplifier. This is an amplifier/speaker that originally complimented a VM reel to reel player. You can use this with an iPhone, iPad, CD player, etc.. There’s a convenient RCA input on top, along with a 1/4 Jack for a microphone! The 6V6 amplifier has been redone with all new capacitors and resistors. Including a new crossover capacitor in the dual speaker section. There’s a great little red pilot lamp in the front, that lets you know the unit is on. Works and sounds like new! Beautiful, warm, full tube sound is what you get. From this fun and unique unit.. The top lid is hinged and also removable. There’s a neat little storage area inside too! The original cabinet covering is still in decent shape, having some common wear from age and use, see photos. An all together beautiful sounding vintage mono amplifier. This listing is for a Vintage 1950 Hoffman PPP 6K6 Mono Tube Amp, Ideal for converting to a Parallel Push Pull Harp or Guitar Amplifier or for restoring a Hoffman console. It came from a Hoffman model 538 radio / record player and comprises the power & amplifier section of chassis # 168 (the tuner section will be listed separately). The schematic is in Rider’s Volume 22, which covers 1951, but both the tuner section and the speaker have 1950 dates, so that’s what we’re going with. The tube lineup is 4 x 6K6GT, in PPP, driven by a 6J5GT with a 5U4G rectifier. Prior to listing it was brought up on a variac and played well.
