Vintage Tube Amp

Really good sounding National 51. Everything looks original except for the tubes. The amp doesn’t have a real high volume unless you add a overdrive to it. The video is of the amp cranked up as high as it will go without any extra fx. I used a Fender Strat to play through the National. Video was made with just a simple cheep camera. I’ve remove all glass tubes and pre packed this amp very good for safe travels.

Vintage 1951 National Valco Tube Amplifier Amp 51 Chicago Gold Label. I have owned it for many years and now it’s time for someone else to enjoy. Senior citizen, non-smoker owned. Made in 1951, Chicago, Illinois, USA. Serial Number Metal Tag: X367, very low serial number range. Model: National Valco 51, with gold emblem logo on the front. Features: on/off toggle switch, fuse holder, bass/treble tone dial, volume low/high dial, and 3 instrument inputs. Speaker: 10 speaker, stamped 550-3 on the magnet, 6823 on the metal frame, and 41H800 on the actual speaker. Check out the attached video for a quick sound clip. Video with audio was done at the restoration shop after recent work was completed. Sounds even better in person! ELECTRONICS: The amplifier has been professionally restored electronically, (to original specifications as possible), including new tubes and a 10′ grounded 3-prong plug that replaced the brittle original 2-prong plug. The renowned “Hunt Amplification” in Phoenix, Arizona recently performed all of the electronic restoration. All electronic aspects of this amplifier are in 100% working order. EXTERIOR: Great overall used 74-year-old original, un-restored exterior condition. Exterior condition shows minor wear, discoloration and usage throughout the years. (Bottom lower front corners show some scuffs in the covering). Original aged brown leather carry handle. Exterior is in original, un-restored condition and is coming from a senior owned, non-smoking home. See pics for exact condition of every inch of this beautiful old amplifier. How you use it, take care of it, and maintain it, will strongly impact how many more decades it can be enjoyed. Gave it a light cleaning. Also cleaned the pot and tube sockets. These amps are favorites in recording studios everywhere. They have a sparkling clean tone and a nice breakup when pushed. This one has been updated with a 3 prong cord as well as a jack that allows convenient use of an external speaker. (Used an existing stock hole and it is easily reversible if desired). This model is similar to a Supro 1606 or Gretsch 6150 of this era. Serial indicates first amp of 1962. Very solid cabinet construction and a simple 2 input, 1 knob layout. Utilizes 5y3, 6v6 and 12ax7. Like a Fender Tweed Champ, the amp has only one control knob-volume/on/off. Feel free to ask questions and check out my other listings. Will consider any serious offers.

When it comes to pure, simple, straight forward style and tone… THIS IS THE DEAL! Designed to work for bass or guitar it is BEAUTIFUL, STUNNING, AWESOME. This is a VINTAGE 1967 NATIONAL BASS AMP. MODEL 70 TUBE AMPLIFIER with TWO C12NA JENSEN SPEAKERS, THINK SUPRO, VALCO, AIRLINE. It is a combo amp with two independent 35 watt. Power amplifiers, one for each speaker. It is complete and functions properly. The controls are clean, no scratchy pots. The tube line up… Two matched pairs of Russian Sovtek 6L6′s (one pair branded Fender, the other branded Electro Harmonix), a USA RCA 12AX7 and a Russian Winged C 12AX7. It has a few dings and scuffs and some light staining of the grill cloth, but overall in exceptional condition, especially considering it is over 50 years old. There are three different tone setting that give you control of the bottom end of the tone spectrum… Guitar=light bass, Hi Bass=more bass, Low Bass=rich, thick, meaty, all-you-could-possibly-want, most bass. This amp sounds awesome. Articulate, clean power even at higher levels. BIG KNOBS, CHROME CHASSIS, GOLD’NATIONAL’ LOGO, SILVER SPARKLE GRILL CLOTH, TWO TEXTURES OF TOLEX with PIPING, REFRIGERATOR HANDLE… A 1960′s WORK OF ART! I never use UPS. As a basic test I have operated this amp for at least 4 hour recently and it did not fail, smoke, blow fuses, etc. Old electronic can fail at any time. Old electronics are scratched, worn, chipped, cracked, dirty, dusty, stained, ugly, tinkered with, missing parts, etc. The exteriors have wear that includes cuts, holes, tears, scuffs, missing stitching, missing or replaced feet and knobs. In the course of servicing over the years, they typically do not have all original components. Old electronics typically hum and have scratchy controls. You should not have to live with something you are unhappy with for any reason.
