Vintage Tube Amp

Vintage circa 1960′s SCHOBER Transistor Guitar Amplifier TR-2 range of 4-16 ohms 117 VAC. Good vintage condition overall, typical age wear on body but no dents or dings, no missing knobs or dials, power tested and turns on and fan runs (makes a squeaking sound) otherwise untested with use, see photos. Working mono Allied Knignt 1955 tube amp hi fi. This amp has no bottom plate or cage. I powered it up and it sounded pretty good, better than I thought it would. These make excellent guitar amps when modified. It uses 2 6V6 output tubes, a 5Y3 rectifier tube, 1 6SL7 and 2 6SN7. Good cosmetic condition, the volume and tone pots have some surface rust on them (see photo).

The unit has been partially recapped and new grounded power cable. There is wear from use/storage like scratches, scuffs and dust. 1 x 12AX7 Sylvania. 1 x 35C5 GE. 1 x 35C5 IEC. 1 x 35W4 unbranded. Please contact me if you have any questions.

This came into our shop on a trade. Not an expert on these but it’s in fantastic condition and sounds incredible. I had Raul Hernandez of Aztec Electronics in Murrieta, CA. Completely go through this amp. Raul is an ex-Hughes (Howard) Aircraft tech from way back SoCal and knew exactly what to do with the Marantz. He found two capacitors that were leaking in the inverter and replaced them. No other issues with the rest of the amp. The specs on this 8B are spot on with the original. The inside is just fantastic and doesn’t look to have been messed with. Beautiful hand-wired work and super clean. The tubes look to me like they “might” be original. Amp is said to be a second owner and spent most of its time in Japan. Either way this amp hasn’t seen alot of moving or miles. I have a few videos of the testing and many photos of the tube testing/bias adjusting and can send a separate link to all of that info or go to Reverb as it’s also listed there. GREAT PAIR ZENITH 6A5G. Date Codes = ROR and ROP. TESTED on HICKOK TV7. Results = 65 and 67. Minimum Good = 38. All Tubes Tested on a Calibrated Hickok TV7 or Sencore TC136.

It has the push pull output transformer (45 triode tubes pair) connect to the speaker field coil in serial, resistance coil is about 2500 ohm ; the voice coil diameter 1 inch, 6.7 ohm. Item is tested at 150 VDC apply to the field coil, strong magnetic field, the speaker is working good, the sound is great, sweet musical analog sound.
