WORKING US Army An/pfp-1 Tube Audio Vintage Am424a/pfp-1 AF Projector Amplifier
Friday, August 16th, 2024First of all, let me explain why I listed this as for parts or not working. This is the reason why I listed it in this manner. If you are concerned about my integrity as to the condition of this amplifier. Now for the important part. This projector amplifier has been tested and is working flawlessly. The audio sounds great high and low frequency level pots work exactly as they should. There is no distortion even on full volume. Hum and noise floor are well within spec. If you are in the vintage audio world, you are probably already aware that even though an item is functioning flawlessly, presently, there is no guarantee that repairs will not be needed in the future sooner or later. Capacitors and other components, change value overtime and may at some point need to be changed. I ran this amp for approximately three hours yesterday feeding an eight ohm load to make sure there was no component breakdown during that time. Overall, this is a great warm, sounding tube amplifier.

Eico Hf-81 Vintage Tube Integrated Amplifier Restored 1950′s Magic
Sunday, August 11th, 2024This amp has been gone through, and all issues (and known issues) addressed. Internal capacitors have all been replaced, pots cleaned, and brought back to factory specs. Please refer to pictures for the condition. It is not perfect, but a very nice clean unit. The flash in a couple of pictures made the face look different. This is diode rectified now, so there is no need for the ez81 tubes anymore. You can put some in, but they will just glow. The sound is simply incredible. When you first turn it on, it sounds like a very good tube amp. Something my old audio research D125 could never do. After this amp warms up for about 15 minutes, it really opens up. I put about 8 hrs on it yesterday. I was so enthralled by the sound that I kept throwing cd after cd at it. I was halfway through Nora Jones at 2am. When the wife came downstairs and said, TURN IT OFF. She really knows how to knock me off my cloud. I know this is not a brute on power, but I ran it to my polk RTA-12B speakers. These are power-hungry speakers, and the eico brought them to the edge of my spl max. This is well over my wifes level, but I did wake her up. With the volume at max, there is no hiss or hum or any distortion while playing. The sound this set amp delivers is amazing. The soundstage is wide with a depth that you want from a good tube amp. HF is absolutely crystal clear with lush mids. The bass is extremely impressive for the wpc. This amp provided a nice punch with a powerful low end from the polks. Vocals, brass, guitar, and piano are all there. It sounds like you are in the recording studio. Miles Davis, Coltrane, B. This is a very special amplifier, not nearly the power of my Mac 275, but it does so many things right. Some amps you turn on to listen while you work or get stuff done. This one makes you stop dead in your tracks, sit down, and close your eyes. I wish I still had my old klipsch chorus ii speakers. I rolled some different tubes in this amp, so some pictured are different now. This will be packed very well and insured, so it will arrive safe.

1971 Fender Bassman Tube Amp Head- WORKS VINTAGE Model AA371
Saturday, August 10th, 2024I had asked him if he ever did anything to it and he said, “No”. It had never had any problems and still has all the original parts, hardware and tubes. I bought the amp and changed the silverface faceplate to a blackface re- issue faceplate so that is the only non-original part that I know of other than the piggy back slide mount hardware and some caps. I remember that this amp played really loud and also has the original 3 prong plug. I took this amp to my amp tech this week, who replaced all the filter caps, the fuse and went over the operation so everything should be working perfectly. This amp is one of the very last and latest Bassman’s made Dec. 1971 before they changed the circuit in Jan, 1972 and renamed the new model the Bassman 50! It’s quite RARE! Serial # A 63194. Black ink stamped BROWN. Black ink stamp inside chassis- Richard Hand Dec 1971. Black ink stamp- 43033. Power Trans # J022814. 606 3071 7 (30th week of 1971). 606131 (31st week of 1971). 606-1-46 (46th week of 1971). It might serve the buyers purpose to bring up the power slowly with a variac since these amp heads are over 50 years old and have not been used for a few decades. Please remember these are vintage pieces, we cannot guarantee that they will not need service or more parts in their future, only some obvious parts were changed to get it working, most are still the original old parts remaining.
