Vintage Tube Amp

This is a very unique and well designed Tube Amplifier. It appears to have a built-in preamplifier that rests on the top and plugs into the amp via a cable and a tube. After scouring the internet, I turned up nothing and couldn’t find any amps with a similar design. The quality is very good, leading me to believe it must have been made by a company as opposed to an individual, but there are no makers marks or model numbers anywhere on it. One of the large “coke bottle” tubes is missing and as such I haven’t tested it. It will need that tube replaced and may need some capacitors replaced as well from age but I don’t know. Unknown Vintage Tube Amplifier Heathkit? I don’t know who made this amp but it powers on and seems to work. As it heats up it has a smell to it. I know it’s better to slowly bring up tube amps so you don’t fry them so I just powered it on for about a minute to test it out. See pics and video demo. The volume and tone controls seem to work and on the the back the ohms are label on the speaker outputs. I only tested the “Tuner” input on the back.

One of the earliest Teisco amps made and only a couple are known to exist. Someone started to restore/refurbish the amp and replaced some capacitors and wire. The work was done well but was never finished. Cool piece of history and would make a great addition to any collection. Outer dimensions are 11″h x 9″w, 5d. Get it while you can, the chances of finding another one are slim to none. A must have for any Teisco collectors.
