Classic Vintage Quad II Valve Amplifiers. Serial numbers: 61213 & 74372. Very good (apparently all original) condition. Some age related marks to the paint finish (nothing nasty) as per photos. Fully tested and both amps in excellent working order. Supplied without any leads. Come with Quad cartons including internal packaging. Designed for use with the Quad II or 22 pre-amplifiers. The function of a main amplifier is that of amplifying the output from the control unit or other source with the highest possible standard of accuracy. This is achieved in the Quad II to a degree unexcelled by any equipment known to be offered to the public. Up for sale is a terrific classic amp by Ampeg…. Two beautiful inputs/channels of tube goodness reside within this amplifier. There is distortion on one of the channels on this amp. But it is very weak, literally. It almost sounds like it’s trying to be a tube screamer, blending the “distortion” with the original clean signal…. But definitely not the amp’s strong suit. What IS this amp’s strong suit is its “Fender Twin like” clean sounds…. With a power amp driven by 4 7027A power tubes, the clean signal from this amp has it all…… Nice round low end, a clear and glassy top end, and just enough inherent mids to give the amp an amazing clean sound! Also makes it a great platform for pedals so you have the potential for a universe of sounds that sound great! The amp has a nice 3 band parametric EQ that services both inputs, which includes a very responsive mid control that has a lot of positions, and therefore, shades of middle frequency. On top of that, there is a three position switch, ranging from 300Hz to 3000Hz, located above the parametric EQ that lets you tweak your mids even more! This amp also has a genuine spring reverb, with a cool locking feature on the back, so you can actually “turn off” the reverb with a latch on the back of the amp. According to my amp tech and his trusty side kick, the actual purpose of the lock is so that your reverb tank isn’t constantly clanging around in your car on the way to the gig! Then, when you get to your destination, you can simply unlock the latch and rock out with your reverb! Speaking of which, this amp has been serviced by one of the best, if not the best amp tech in the Charlotte metro area. It has 8 brand new capacitors values/voltage can be provided to SERIOUS potential buyers upon request. There are now 2 brand new 220k/2w resistors. Brand new sturdy speaker plug as well as a robust 3 prong plug for the (very long) power cable have also been installed on the amp. Also, 1 brand new ECC-832 preamp tube has been installed. 2 of the power tubes were fairly new and still had plenty of life on them, so the other 2 7027A’s were replaced with a matching pair, so now the amp has a matched quad of power tubes…. Thereby providing a FULL 100 watts (my amp tech believes this is conservative) of earth shaking, beautiful sounding tube power! With a clean bill of health, this big box of gorgeous sounds is now ready to rock and roll in your very own unique rig!
