Radford STA7 Valve (Tube) Stereo Power Amplifier – Rare! This sale is for a Radford STA7, seven watt per channel amplifier in fully working condition and cosmetically very good to excellent for its age. Arguably the rarest of all the Radford valve amplifiers, this is a must for any serious’Radford’ collector. Personally I don’t think the STA7 was manufactured for very long, because it was never listed in any of the 1960′s Hi Fi Year books. In over 40 years of collecting vintage audio this is only the second one I have seen! Valve line up:- 4 x New ECL82, 1 x ECC 83, 1 x EZ81. Dimensions:- 23cm x 18cm x 16cm. Included in this sale are. Heathkit AA-151 Vintage Tube Stereo Power Amplifier. I recently picked this up from a local CT estate with some other quality electronics. I’ve only tested this for power. It may be missing one tube in the rear as you can see in the pictures. It is very clean on the inside, no dust or residue at all. Appears to have been lightly used if at all. The Heathkit label is missing from the front and it does have some minor scratches on it. The power cord is clean and in good shape. There is no owners manual with this. I did try it with some JBL’s but got no sound. If there is a trick to connecting 8 ohm speakers please let me know and I’ll try again. Otherwise it may need the missing tube. Here we have a beautiful vintage Fender Pro Reverb amplifier from 1966. Made in the USA. The Pro Reverb is a 2×12 all tube guitar combo amplifier. It is essentially half of a “Twin Reverb” It is a 40 watt amplifier and it sounds so sweet. The beauty of the Pro Reverb is you can turn it up to 6 or 7 for a gig or recording and get that sweet spot. The amplifier is in very very clean condition. So please take a look at all the photos and if you have any questions feel free to ask. There is some light seem splitting at the corners but no major tears or rips. The amplifier has been re-capped and also has had a 3 prong plug added and the death cap removed. The speakers are the original Jensen C12′s. One dates to 1965 and one dates to 1964. The faceplate on this amp seems to be a pre- CBS as it says “Fender Electric Instrument Co”. Most likely it was a leftover faceplate when this amp was built in 1966. The transformers and chassis serial number all date to 1966. The original foot switch is included but one of the buttons is a bit fussy. It works but can be intermittent. The amp has had a recent check up by our amp technician and has been given a clean bill of health. Now for the sound… What can we say really… It is a vintage Pro Reverb and it sounds sweet to the ears. You can really juice this one up and get the beautiful breakup that we all crave. This is a very nice 1964 Fender 6G2 Princeton, serial P08161. It came from a fellow who was thinning out his collection. I’m showing it exactly as we received it. I haven’t polished it up or anything like that. It’s a little dusty but will clean up well. The trim is in great shape and all metal components are free of any significant surface-rust. The grill cloth is original and looks great except for the one hole you see in the photos. Aside from the speaker being replaced with a Fender aftermarket unit, it appears to be all original. I haven’t taken the amp out of the cabinet, but I’m assuming it still has all of the original capacitors in place. Please replace these before putting the amp into full-time service. I haven’t checked the tubes, so there’s a chance they should be replaced as well. Aside from that, this one should be good to go! If you prefer one carrier over the other, please make that request when paying for the item. Rest assured, you’ll receive your item in excellent condition! EXTREMELY RARE, one of the coolest 1960s Vintage UNIVERSAL/VERSATONE by Audio Guild Corp. TUBE COMBO PROFESSIONAL AMPLIFIER in excellent for this year Physical and Working condition. Has 2-way speakers system with 3 separate chambers – for 12 UTAH L. WOOFER, 8 JENSEN SOUND LABORATORIES HIGH FIDELITY LOUDSPEAKER and one of the Chambers is EMPTY (see pics). ALL SPEAKERS AND ALL ANOTHER PARTS ORIGINAL, INCLUDING REVERBERATOR SYSTEM, NOTHING CHANGED. EVERYTHING IN EXCELLENT PHYSICAL AND WORKING CONDITION. JUST SMALL DENT ON THE FRONT LOGO PANEL AND SOME WEARS ON THE CORNERS OF THE CABINET (see pics), BUT IT DOESNT AFFECT ON THE AMAZING SOUND. THIS IS THE PROFESSIONAL MODEL as compared to the student model, Bonham or Lyric that are usually for sale. Similar ones were used for recording 1960′s Surf Tunes and other clean Hi-Fi sounds. Audio Guild was established by Magnatone designer, Donald Bonham. Audio Guild amps were designed by Don Bonham, post Magnatone, and exist under a few different brand names. Amps manufactured in Van Nuys, California in 1960/70s. After leaving Magnatone in the 1960s, chief engineer Don Bonham went on to form the Audio Guild Corporation. Since Bonham owned the patent, the amps featured the same pitch-shifting vibrato circuit that made Magnatone amps famous. Bonham was an engineer with the Hammond Organ Co before he started building amps, so it was only natural he would be interested in the vibrato effect. Bonham believed in the highest quality sound and innovation. The Audio Guild amps he produced in the late 60s were used by pros in the studio where the highest fidelity was much more important than brute power. Carol Kay, the most popular studio bass player in Hollywood, used his amp, also how the Beach Boys used it. Bonham was a big fan of Acoustic Suspension speakers. Unheard of in instrument amps, A. Speakers could not mounted in open cabinets, the large, unrestrained cone travel would destroy the speaker. But Bonham didnt want to use the usual cabinet design of a box filled with foam to dampen the boxs resonate frequency, the foam also lowered efficiency. So Bonham designed a cabinet with a small chamber next to the speaker chamber, with a small hole between the chambers that acted as a valve. It allowed the speaker to function at max efficiency while eliminating any resonating frequencies. A technology Bonham borrowed from the HiFi world was bi-amping. The input was split into high and low frequencies and amplified separately, for a cleaner sound. Donnald Bonham didnt make the loudest or the most, he just made the best.
