Up for sale, a 1957 Magnatone Custom 213 Troubadour in exceptional condition and in perfect working order. A first year example of the Troubadour model, this Custom 213 is fresh back from our techs here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with a clean bill of health. One of the cooler and less common mid-size Magna Electric-era Magnatone amps, the 213 boasts a single 12 alnico Oxford speaker and is powered by a matched pair of 6V6s, delivering 18 all tube watts. Whether you’re looking for the perfect surfy hollow twang or surprisingly thick overdrive, this Magnatone easily supplies a range of classic tube driven textures. Of course one of the main draws of any Magnatone is the true pitch vibrato, and with a width and warble unequalled in tube amp design, this vibrato circuit is in a word lush. The circuit is virtually untouched, boasting original Schumacher transformers and all of the original blue molded Ajax tone caps. All of the original CTS pots are present as well, with dates from the latter half of 1957. Other date codes of note include the original Oxford 12K5 speaker which dates to the 51st week of 1957 and retains its original Magnatone foil sticker on the magnet bell. The faceplate is quite clean and complete with era correct Dakaware knobs. The original smooth brown leatherette covering is in remarkable shape, with some expected light wear around the edges and at the corners, but nothing untoward for a 60+ year old amp. The wheat grillcloth is similarly well kept, and the original Magnatone logo is present too. The back panel on the cab is not present. Here’s another amazing item from my collection. Hate to sell but I don’t play much any longer. I’ve had this for over 30 years and it’s time for someone else to enjoy it. Authentic vintage Fender Vibro Champ Tube amplifier. It appears to be all original (I’ve never done anything to it the entire time I’ve had it), but it does have a groove tube and an RCA. It’s always played well and all functions work great. Vibrato works well, all knobs function fine with no cracks. It does have a pretty loud buzz though so it may need something replaced. Still plays loud as hell but buzz is annoying. Super clean with no rips or tears at all. Tolex is super clean with a few tiny snags. Both jacks work fine. Missing top rear cross cover piece. No idea if speaker is original but again, I’ve never done anything in over 30 years. Please ask questions and I can respond as best as I can. Or let me know if I got the date wrong. These heads are REALLY COOL! With dual 7199 power tubes it has a sound more similar to a valco amp than a dano amp. Reverb is intact but not working. Serviced slightly and works fine, 3 prong chord and speaker jack added. Few of the knobs are from a silvertone 1484. These Mark III’s have just been completely gone through and had numerous updates to improve reliability, but these amps have not had any audio path mods, hacks, or “hot rods”, and remain true to the original Dynaco sound and character. The Quad caps are brand new, replaced with the upgraded versions from Dynakit, The coupling caps and bias caps were replaced. The old selenium rectifiers were updated with modern parts for better reliability. The rectifier circuits have had updates to extend the life of the rectifier tubes. The input jacks were replaced with new jacks and the old screw terminals were upgraded to binding posts. These amps have also been upgraded with bias balance controls. This update allows the bias to be setup properly for each tube and eliminates the need to have perfectly matched output tubes, allowing for greater flexibility if you want to experiment with different tubes. Amps come with: New 5AR4 Shuguang rectifier tubes (arguably the best new rectifier available today). 1 amp has a vintage National 6AN8 and the other a Dynaco branded 6AN8. The output tubes in both amps are vintage RCA 6550′s. They sound, and work, great. Cosmetics are very nice, I would say above average. There is some small pitting on the chrome chassis of both units, but overall the chrome still looks very good and has a nice shine. The cages look great. The cages are included, so is the original manual. I have the original “Black Cat” coupling caps I will include if you want them. Interested buyers are welcome to come demo these amps and hear them in person. This is a VINTAGE 1960′s Alamo guitar amplifier. Made in San Antonio, Texas, USA. I see quite a few of the C. Apri models, but this year Fiesta model with the controls on the back are nearly impossible to find. It is 100% complete and functions properly. I have cleaned the controls and inputs, no scratchy pots. It was recently service, with new capacitors to eliminate the 60 cycle hum. All the controls work. This is a low wattage TONE MONSTER! Controls are volume, tone, tremolo speed and intensity. I added a tone knob and a handle, but they look like they belong on the amp. I doubt you could tell them from the missing original items. Old electronics are scratched, worn, chipped, cracked, dirty, dusty, stained, ugly, tinkered with, missing parts, etc. The exteriors have wear that includes cuts, holes, tears, scuffs, missing stitching, missing or replaced feet and knobs. In the course of servicing over the years, they typically do not have all original components. Old electronics typically hum and have scratchy controls. As a basic test I have operated this amp for at least 4 hour recently and it did not fail, smoke, blow fuses, etc. Old electronic can fail at any time. That is a bargain. This item is heavy and will require extra time and care to package. Please take a look at the last picture and my other listings. I have a great collection of amps for sale now.
