I took the cover off and plugged it in and took pictures. I see the tubes lit up. Not sure what to look for. I took lots of pictures. Vintage best guess 1950′s tube amp. Has metal tag on it that says X53157. Has rubber feet and carrying handle. Cord looks old so has not been tested. Could use some cleaning. Up for sale, a 1962 Rex model 6143 Class A tube amplifier in excellent condition and in good working order. Made by Valco in the USA (the parent company responsible for Supro, National, Airline, and others), this amp has a responsive snappy sound that quickly overdrives. The circuit retains the original Magnetic Components output transformer which dates to 1962, and the tube compliment includes a 50L5 power tube, 35Z5 rectifier, and ECC83 and 117Z3 valves in the preamp. The original 8 Jensen speaker retains its original speaker cone, with the original square foil label on the alnico magnet. The cabinet retains the original fawn textured covering, with stock handle and feet. The brass plating on the chassis shows moderate patina, and there’s a bit of light wear on the corners of the enclosure as well. A video can be sent on request. I do have two of these in stock in working condition. Sale includes the very rare Q-3535 “First Stereo Amplifier” along with the very rare SP-220 Pre-Amp. It is not very often either of these pop up and if so, rarely together. Units are in clean working condition. Output is very clean. Although the unit powers on, produces clean output from both channels some expected care and upkeep should be expected given the age and nature of this item. No further promises, warranties, or etc are offered. The tubes in the unit do work. They will be packaged properly and safely. I do not promise duration or longevity on the tubes. It is not bad, but notible when making some adjustments. Please note in the pictures, any marks on either unit. If you are a Sansui collector, this should be on your must have list. Here is a sweet old gal. The amp has that great George Smith tone. According to Rod Piazza George used one similar for many recordings. It has been recapped with American & German parts only. Tubes are all excellent. The one pre-amp tube up under the control panel is where I put a 12AU7 or any of the other lower gain tubes i. 12AY7, 5814, 6189, 12AZ7, 12AV7. Original speaker in great condition. The only item to note is that the killer tremolo bleeds through a tad without using a footswitch or shorting jack.
