Beautiful Condition, late 50s early 60s Tube Amp! 8 of em to be exact. All tubes working strong. 7 of the old Wax capacitors were replaced with New Quality Nichicon Electrolytic Capacitors. Up for sale, a 1963 Fender Concert in exceptional, collector-grade condition and in perfect working order. This Concert is extremely clean cosmetically, incredible sounding, and complete with a quad of Oxford 10″ 10K5-5 ceramic speakers with brown plastic “Fender bell covers. The combination of the Brownface 6G12-A circuit and four Oxfords is truly something to behold. The amp delivers sweet, dynamic clean tones with incredible sparkle and a certain high fidelity clarity that is noticeable as soon as you strum your first chord. Turn the amp up past 5 and the amp starts to smoothly overdrive with just the right amount of bite and the complex midrange bark that makes Fender’s Brownface amps the perfect middle ground between the growl and attitude of Fender’s Tweed amps and the glassy shimmer of the Blackface era. The EQ controls have an incredible wide sweep, and this amp is uncommonly warm for any Fender, never feeling too bright or brittle, with the perfect amount of midrange and focused low end. The second channel boasts the Harmonic Vibrato circuit, which was the only Fender “Tremolo” circuit to ever have a true pitch shifting effect and sounds incredible, with deep pulsating warbles and a wide range of speeds. The circuit is very clean and original, with stock transformers that date between late 1962 and early’63, as well as a full compliment of original Ajax blue molded tone caps in the preamp. The original filter caps have been upgraded with new Sprague Atoms to keep the amp operating within original factory spec, and the bypass and bias caps in the preamp have also been swapped in favor of parts within factory tolerances. The power tubes are a matched pair of vintage USA-made Sylvania 6L6s, and the preamp tubes are a combination of newer and vintage valves. The Oxford 10K5 speakers are a matched quad, and the stamped brown plastic bell covers are an extremely rare and cool accent used for only a matter of months by Fender. The speakers have date codes between late 1962 and early’63. Two of the speakers retain their original cones, while the other two have been freshly reconed. The tube chart is fully intact inside the cabinet with crisp corners and an MB date stamp from February of 1963. The original rough brown tolex and wheat grillcloth are intact and in remarkable shape. As the photos show, the tolex and grill show sparingly little wear, and this amp is a great candidate for any collection or studio. The speaker frames and bell covers are exceedingly clean, consistent with the chassis itself and the Brownface faceplate. The original chassis straps, nickel corners, sphinx glides, and flat “Fender” logo are all in great shape and present. The only replacement hardware on the amplifier is a newer rubber dogbone handle (much more reliable than the original handle for an amp of this weight). With the exception of the power cords, I believe this pair to be in all Original condition. These are just 2-components that are from a house full of Electronics that were part of my late Uncle’s huge estate of Vintage Stereo / Hi-Fi Equip, Speakers, Parts & Accessories. These amplifiers had been stored in a closet for some time and were tubeless. Further searching revealed a huge box of vacuum tubes including the box of pictured set Electro-Harmonics tubes that were apparently intended for these two MC60 amplifiers. Judging by the appearance of the tubes & their boxes, its logical to assume these tubes were in fact unused. So, I installed all of the tubes in their appropriate positions, connected both amplifiers to a matching McIntosh pre-amplifier, connected a CD player & some old B&W speakers and listened to a variety of CDs at different volume levels for approx. Both amplifiers sounded clear to me with equal amount of volume and nothing changed. I have zero experience with tube equipment. I do realize however because of their age, at least 60 years right? That any internal part or tube can fail at any time. So be advised, both should be inspected, perhaps adjusted and / or up-dated for Best preformance by a qualified technician or experienced hobbyist. Certainly with someone having more knowledge & experience than I have concerning these vintage components. Cosmetically both Amplifiers have issues. But I feel they are in great condition considering their age. I truly did my best to provide revealing pictures for all to see. You know, it certainly isn’t easy to get great pictures considering the reflective nature of the Chrome Chassis. So please examine all pictures and judge for yourself and ask questions? If you are searching for a pair of “perfect” MC60 amplifiers, you need to continue your search. Anyway, I’m sure ultimately that someone can have many years of enjoyment with these preserved & unspoiled classic pair of McIntosh Stereo history. 1960′s PILOT 610 INTEGRATED TUBE AMP/ RECEIVER. You are looking at a rare Pilot 610 Integrated Amplifier with phono input and FM Multiplex tuner. The Pilot 610 uses 6GW8/ECL86 tubes to produce a fantastic sound some might say is even better than that of the 500 or 232 series EL84/6BQ5 Pilot amps. Amp works great, it is in its original unrestored condition. The only issue is that when switching between channel A/B switch the amp does not react and sound still comes through both channels, stereo setting works great.
