Up for sale, a 1964 Ampeg B-12-XY recently serviced and in perfect working order. One of the physically larger and complex designs in the Portaflex series, the B-12-XY features both vibrato and reverb through a ported cabinet outfitted with a Celestion Vintage 30 speaker. Stocked with a combination of original preamp valves and newer JJ power and rectifier tubes, the B-12-XY delivers a tone that has warmth, clarity and the rich overdrive characteristics commonly associated with Ampeg’s best designs. The physical size of the cabinet and ported design adds extra low end fullness, and the stock horn has been disconnected to provide a more conventional and smooth EQ curve. The vibrato (not tremolo like most amps), has a deep, warbling pulse with a swirling, leslie-like effect that is extremely lush. The reverb utilizes the original Accutronics two-spring tank, and curiously enough, is designed to only operate via a satellite cabinet, although the effect has been tested and sounds great. The circuit is clean and stock, with only a few minor component substitutions to keep the amp operating within original factory spec. The turret board design is clean and true to how the amp left the factory, with original transformers and CTS pots that date to late 1963. The chassis has plenty of shine with clean chrome plating that still retains the majority of the original white silkscreen lettering. Central to the face of the amp, the lucite, light-up “Ampeg” logo is present. Inside the cabinet, the original tube chart is mostly intact, and the modern Celestion Vintage 30 speaker offers a very smooth and pleasing voice that compliments the circuit design. Cosmetically, the original blue checkered covering and silver grillcloth are intact, showing scuffs and modest wear on the corners of the cab from the past 55 years. The original chrome side handles are present and clean, and the stock blue leather handle on the center of the cab shows wear, but still works, having been liberally wrapped in gaffe tape. The original multi-pin head to cabinet cable has also been substituted for a more convenient and versatile 1/4plug, and the six shockmounts that suspend the head above the mounting tray are all brand new components from Fliptops, ensuring no rotted out rubber and a secure connection between the head and mounting tray when transporting the amp. Overall, this amp is a complete and serviced road warrior, ready for another half century of use. Vintage Dynaco Mark MK II tube amplifier – tested briefly. AC current draw from the line was about 1A at 90V and rose to 2A at 100V. The input signal played loud and clear without obvious 60Hz hum. The current draw indicates a minor issue that needs to be resolved before using but the important pieces are doing their jobs. The two tubes shown are included but have not been tested. No EL-34 are included in this listing. The item “Vintage Dynaco Mark 2 MK II Tube Amplifier Dynakit 50W EL-34″ is in sale since Saturday, April 27, 2019. Vintage 1930's Unmarked Gibson EH-100 Style Tube Guitar Amp Amplifier, Very Rare

For sale here is a very rare and unique vintage late 1930′s Gibson EH-100 or 125 style amplifier. I don’t know if this is a prototype 6F6 power tubes? First made in 1935, followed shortly thereafter by the 6V6 and finally the 6L6. , or if it was built for a music store in the late 1930′s. But there is no doubt that it has the same basic components and layout of Gibson amps of the late 1930′s. Utah speaker and matching branded 200 ohm power resistor. Geib Chicago (the company that made all of the early Gibson amp, guitar & other musical instrument cases) gold embossed shield on the inside cabinet along with the Western Electric, ERPI, AT&T gold foil label. It even has the original Geib made case cover! I bought this over 30 years ago, but I never got around to restoring it until now. It was packed in a box that I forgot about actually. Ok, so I wanted to repair and replace only what was absolutely necessary for it to work. I replaced 3 capacitors (see photos 6 & 7), a few vacuum tubes with NOS tubes, and the electrical cord (left it non-grounded as originally designed). All of the original resistors still held spec when tested. It now plays and sounds quite good, really. But, if I were going to keep it, I would probably replace the remaining 4 original capacitors, which are all 80 years old now. However, I realize that many collectors want everything as original as possible, so I’ll leave it as-is. Note for Geeks: Check out the photo of the original (still working) Stackpole Volume pot; Date of Manufacture… Just an FYI that the one (Stackpole)Volume control knob on these style of vintage amps only controls the volume for the Microphone input. The Instrument input, which makes the guitar sound better when you run through it, has no attenuation, meaning you control the output volume with the volume knob(s) on your guitar. Please examine all of the photos, which are of the actual amp for sale in this listing, carefully and ask questions if you have any. Final word, this amp is a ridiculous bargain only because it doesn’t have a Gibson logo on it, even though it rolled off the same assembly line in the 1930′s. The item “Vintage 1930′s Unmarked Gibson EH-100 Style Tube Guitar Amp Amplifier, Very Rare” is in sale since Sunday, May 5, 2019. Single-ended custom 45 triode tube stereo class A audio amplifier with Tamura transformers. This hand-built stereo amplifier features: special power transformer many & voltage options to operate all over the. Heavy all steel chassis to better support the transformers. ElectroCube audio grade Mylar capacitors. Point to point hand wiring, with no circuit boards that are difficult to repair and often go bad. Two gain controls — one for left and one for right hand. These are Alpha professional brand studio audio gain controls. With one for each channel you can use them like a balance control only better. Vintage super high quality Military surplus hum rheostat. Top of the line Tamura brand power transformer — The Tamura power transformer in this amplifier is a 1960 vintage. It has a large heavy copper band around the. It is one of the best power transformers ever made. If they were to reproduce a transformer of this quality today, the cost would be no less than 300.00. I took a picture of one of these transformers before I painted it so you can see the super quality. Surplus Military steel off/on light fixture. This amplifier offers input voltages of 240, 220, 120, 110, and 100 volts. Superior speaker 3 way connector. Solid copper buss bar ground strap wire. High voltage US Military grade surplus Amphenol tube sockets, that will last forever, Not the ones from China that fall apart with normal use. Clean chassis look not a bunch of screws and washers holding the tube sockets. These sockets are vintage NOS Military grade with clips under the chassis to hold them in place. High quality set screw knobs Not the cheap plastic push on knobs you see on most modern audio. This is the best sounding amplifier available anywhere, Single ended with Tamura transformers. The 45 tube is the most musical tube ever invented, Beautiful clean clear highs and warm but very crisp bass. You will notice the difference the second it comes on. Audio collectors have ask that I use the ultimate Tamura power transformer that have many input AC voltages, so I built this special amp for you. This power transformer is so heavy built I can run the amplifier all day and the transformer just gets warm. Each of these Class A 45 triode single-ended amplifiers I custom build, is a little different. NO TWO ARE THE IDENTICAL. Some are different colors and may use other vintage parts. The amplifiers I build all have the same incredible circut, design, and sound, but like a painting they are done by hand, and no two are identical. I do not get these from a factory they are all hand built. I have been building and enjoying my homemade amplifiers for many years. It is a fun hobby, because I can use some. The best parts that were ever available regardless of what year these parts were produced. Like in this amplifier, I might use tubes from the 1930′s, transformers from the 1960′s, tube sockets from the 1940′s, and modern top quality Alpha brand gain controls. I only hand wire point to point connections in my shop my self. The other reason I build my own amplifiers is I can use some of the best triode output tubes ever made, in combination with a single-ended Class A output design. I can build Amplifiers that were never available for mass production. I also use low-mu triode tubes for sound quality, and to lower the chance of micro phonics like Brook and Fisher did in some of their best quality studio laboratory amplifiers. I use new Alpha gain controls for each channel. That way they can act like a left & right balance control only better. This is the best watt I have ever listened to”, “. Only one way to describe the sound of this amplifier: breathtaking. Great sounding amp Good packing Excellent service Thank you!!! Amp has superb build and sound transparency that reveals deeper layers of music. This amplifier will put out about 1-1/2 watts per side to 8-ohm speakers (remember it is the first watt that counts). To make this amplifier sound best you should run efficient 8-ohm vintage speakers, like Klipsch, JBL Tannoy, Jensen, Altec and other speakers rated around 20 watts or less. My son runs a pair of Klipsch Heresy with his identical amplifier and it has the power to spare. This amplifier will not rattle the windows with power, but at normal listening levels it will amaze you, and fill a room with plenty of great sound. These transformers give my amplifiers that magical sound that no other amplifier can match and you can only get from Class A Triode single-ended design. Tamura no longer makes these transformers and the ones I used in this amplifier were made back in the 1960′s. These are hand wound inner-leaved permalloy output transformers, and they produce a magical sound that you cannot get from any other transformers. The output transformers are designed for 8-ohm efficient speakers. Sellers that tell you that it does not matter what ohms speakers you connect to their amplifiers are wrong. You should only connect the proper ohm speakers to the corresponding connection. These Tamura output transformers have a 5000-ohm primary which is perfect for the SE 45 tubes. Some sellers will say you can use several different numbered output tubes in their amplifiers. If that were true transformer manufactures would not need to build transformers to match up with the exact output tubes, they could just make a couple of output transformers that would work for many tubes. A 2A3 tube amplifier should have a primary transformer that is 2500 ohms. The 45 tube requires a 5,000 ohm output transformer. You cannot have a output transformer that would be the perfect match for a 45 and at the same time a perfect match for a 2A3 tube. It would be a bad mismatch for either the 45 or the 2A3 or maybe both. When you match up the correct Tamura output transformer to the correct triode tube you get those crystal clear highs and the very clean bass punch you have been looking for. My custom amplifier projects start off as raw Bud brand metal chassis that I punch out, then sand and finish. I round and shape the corners so they are smooth. This amp is all hand wired. You will enjoy the heavy, quality feel of this amp, the smooth rounded edges on the chassis, and the quality hardware nuts & bolts using lock washers securing the parts. It takes me about one week to build one of these from start to finish, and longer to source the vintage top quality parts I want to use. This amplifier comes with the used. MADE IN THE USA tubes you see in the picture I DO NOT USE THE CHINESE NOCK OFF TUBES. The tube lineup is two 45 triode tubes, two 6SN7 tubes, and one 6AX5 rectifier. You may someday want to upgrade to new or more expensive tubes and I will leave that to the new owners. Thanks for the read. I noticed most of the sellers of single ended triode class A amplifiers do not show the wiring under the chassis. I do show under my chassis so you can see that there are no circuit boards in my amplifiers. I use just simple point to point wiring. Each part is easy to identify, and would be easy to repair if ever it went bad. I build these amplifiers so they will hold they’re value and last a life time. The circuit board electronics with Chinese parts as you know will not hold they’re value or last. Looks cool as hell, and sounds even better (think Supro, Princeton, etc)! Condition is really solid for how old this is and Im surprised the chintzy badge is left at all they usually arent! The O in Orpheus has broken – see pics. Tolex is super clean and see all photos for any of the bumps and bruises on the edges. Bottom has original feet which has kept condition of the material underneath really nice. Message me any questions or requests for specific images.
