There is pitting on the chrome chassis. It works perfectly and sounds fantastic. Up for sale here is this rare vintage Knight KB-85 tube amplifier. This normally runs 4 EL37 output tubes, two 5AR4 (GZ-34) rectifier tubes, two 12AX7 tubes, and two EF86 tubes. This includes two 12AX7s, two EF86s, four 5881 output tubes, but no 5AR4s, sorry. The EF86s and 12AX7s are untested but will probably work fine, but the 5881s are pretty worn-out and will need replacing. The two metal tube covers are included. This is in great shape with light to moderate overall wear, with absolutely beautiful chrome. The extremely rare top cage/cover is included. It has the Knight badge on one side. The cover does have some rust on it, but since the top part of the cover is removable it would be pretty easy to sand down and repaint it. This is currently in non-working condition. Other than the tubes, this appears to be completely original–the previous owner told me that this blew the fuse at least 30+ years ago and was just set aside at the time. All the tubes are included…. 1 12AX7 1 12AU7 (I substituted a 5814). The speaker case and grill cover are in really nice condition. The tolex has no rips or tears and only has very minor age related wear. The handles are also in great shape and work perfectly. The case unlatches and detaches from each other and work as they should and are in very good condition. The Amplifier features an On/Off Toggle Power Switch, a single 6BQ5, a 12ax7 and 12au7 tubes, A Volume and Tone control, a fuse holder, 1/4″ input plug for guitar and a 1/4″ speaker output plug that the speaker plugs into. All of the knobs work and turn freely as they should and the power light comes on. The fuse is still good too but the tubes do not light up and it does not produce any sound. So this amp is a great candidate for a rebuild and need some tubes or work to bring it back to its full potential. The chassis is in good cosmetic condition for its age (please see photos). It measures approximately 13 3/4″ x 9 1/4″ x 9 1/4 including the handle and weighs about 18 lbs. For parts or restoration. I bring tube amplifiers up to power slowly on a variac with a full load to avoid damage and properly reform the capacitors and although I test them to the best of my ability, I’m not an expert by any means! I may not be able to test all functions, some may have been repaired or worked on by others and some functions may or may not work as there may be damaged components that we are unable to determine that need additional repairs. Some items may just be plugged in and powered on without further testing so don’t assume the item works because it powers on. When purchasing 50+ year old items you should expect that some work may need done to bring them back up to their full potential… Our items decades ago. HEREs a rare lil bird, it’s a orpheum tube amp, also badged univox.. 64-5 has single great Britain vintage EL 84 and pre amps 12 ax7, s n rectifier is a vintage ez81.. Thing has footswitch trilogy that’s got speed n rate type controls, anazibg sounding tremolo, great lil old tube amp… I was told it was probably valco made.. Anyone w info I can add pls send it.. Orig spkr was dried n split.. W univox instead orpheum.. All caps seem orig, voiced w ceramics n mica, n pop caps, n is pretty quite on idle , despite its orig 2 prong cord…. S early Asis n is roughly 55 yrs old.. Has fender 12spkr….. I have orig light alnico spkr.. I’m caregiving my elderly sick mom in Fla… Amp been at her place for long while…. Great to mic n use in a studio like tool for tones ya can only get from these sleeper amps…. Since in all way in south Fla… Hope this goes to good handy home… Def unique lil amp.. Plywood n pine cab it seems… Def not thick like a super reverb… This was a bedroom amp… And seems like a time machine looking inside…. Will be boxed well n carefully.
