Up for sale, a 1941 Gibson EH-125 1×12 combo amp in excellent condition and in perfect working order. Introduced in’41, just prior to US involvement in WWII, and only produced for a few years, this rare, early Gibson amplifier is the little sibling of the EH-150, pushing 10-12 watts of power via a pair of vintage RCA 6V6 tubes through the original field coil speaker. This amp features three inputs: one Microphone and two Instruments, along with a single Volume control which dictates only the Microphone channel (the Instrument channels are fixed/maxed volume). Tonally, this amp is sweet and smooth, with fantastic clarity and a kind of burnished warmth that one can really only find with the amplifiers produced in the very first days of electric guitar amplification. The Microphone channel, as the only channel with a Volume control, enables the amp to be pushed up into perfectly creamy edge-of-breakup territory, with a bluesy bite and just enough sizzle. The point-to-point circuit features the original pair of transformers (output transformer mounted to the field coil speaker frame), with a few new tubular signal caps installed as needed, and a modern Alpha-branded Volume pot. A couple stock signal caps and many original carbon comp resistors are present, and the power supply has been recapped with high quality F&Ts. A three-prong power cable has also been installed. The tubes are a matched set of vintage RCAs, including the 6V6 power tubes, a 5Y3 rectifier, and a 6SJ7 and 6J5 valves in the preamp. The original field coil speaker is present; the coil has been rewound and the speaker has been reconed. The original coil cover is intact, and there is a 1941 date stamp on the edge of the frame. The enclosure retains its original “rich Cordoba brown” covering, accented by a small Gibson silkscreened logo, with relatively restrained wear considering its vintage. The black metal grill is clean, the latches that hold on the removable back panel are all intact and functional, the original leather handle and leather corners are present, and the original chickenhead knob is intact.

Up for sale, a 1965 Flot-A-Tone Model 600 1×12 combo amp, near-mint and in perfect working order, outfitted with a complete vintage tube set. Distributed by the Lo Duca brothers (best known for the EKO line of guitars), these hand-wired amps failed to establish a strong foothold in the industry during the company’s lifetime, but they’ve since garnered a devoted following due to their association with legendary tone purists Ry Cooder and G. This Model 600 was one of the final Flot-A-Tone amps ever produced, crafted in the second to last month of production and featuring a dual-channel, dual-input design. This particular Model 600 is also notable for boasting a rare Reverb circuit, a non-standard modification to the platform made at the factory to the final Flot-A-Tones produced and seen on sparingly few examples. Flot-A-Tone amps are renowned for their robust Tweed-style tone, and this Model 600 is warm, thick, and harmonic complex, pushing roughly 25 watts. While the cleans are smooth and atmospheric, cranked up the amp cascades into creamy breakup. The two channels offer marginal differences in power and overall bite: Channel 2 has a rounded punch, while Channel 1 has a dynamic, touch-sensitive dimensionality and a hair more clean headroom. The Tremolo is very musical and natural, subtle for most of the range and getting into wonderfully thick pulsations towards the limits of the Speed and Intensity controls with a pronounced vocal-like effect that is unique to Flot-A-Tone amplifiers. The Reverb has a nice splashy quality, tube-driven with a full-length two-spring tank. The circuit is largely original and professionally serviced, with a number of modern electrolytics and a few Sprague Orange Drops as well. The original Centralab pots date to 1965, and the original transformers are present. The tube complement comprises a pair of RCA 6L6 power tubes, with vintage valves from RCA and General Electric in the preamp. The original Jensen Concert EM1202 (C12N) 12 speaker is present, professionally reconed, and the date stamp on the edge of the frame translates to the 18th week of 1965. Cosmetic touches include black tolex, wheat grillcloth, white piping and a rare “Reverb” badge. There are only a few minor marks on the enclosure, and the chrome-plated faceplate is in great shape with clean white silkscreened lettering.

1957 Magnatone Custom 213 Troubadour Vintage Tube Amp 1x12 with Vibrato, Pre-Estey

Up for sale, a 1957 Magnatone Custom 213 Troubadour in excellent condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original wooden “doorstop” footswitch and full vintage tube set from the likes of Amperex and RCA. An early example of this Troubadour model, the Custom 213 is fresh back from our techs here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with a clean bill of health. One of the cooler and less common mid-size Magna Electric-era Magnatone amps, the 213 boasts a single 12 alnico Oxford speaker, delivering 18 all tube watts. Whether you seek round, sparkling cleans or surprisingly thick overdrive, this Magnatone easily supplies a range of dynamic tube-driven textures. Of course one of the main draws of any Magnatone is the true pitch vibrato, and with a width and warble unequalled in tube amp design, this vibrato circuit is in a word lush. The point-to-point circuit boasts the original transformers (Thordarson power transformer, no definitive markings on the presumably Triad or Schumacher-made riveted-mounted output transformer), and the preamp retains many of the original signal caps with a few high quality tubular Jupiter “dynamite” caps used where needed. The original CTS pots are all intact, and a three-prong power cable has been installed. There is a small silver plug central to the faceplate (renaming the “Troubadour” to the Troubado) from a removed aftermarket mod. Tubes include Amperex and Thomas-branded valves in the preamp, with a pair of well-matched 6V6 power tubes and a coke bottle 5V4 rectifier. The original Oxford 12KR alnico magnet speaker has a very clean frame, with a bold date stamp from the 25th week of’57. The original model sticker is intact in the cabinet too. The original smooth brown leatherette covering is intact and incredibly clean, along with the wheat grillcloth and unique back panel, also with original grillcloth. The faceplate is in wonderful shape, complete with all of the original knobs. The leather handle is a modern replacement. This amp is fully serviced and ready to be played, complete with the original large wooden “doorstop” footswitch to engage the vibrato.

1957 Gibson GA-20 Vintage Tube Guitar Amp 1x12 with Jensen P12R

Up for sale, a 1957 Gibson GA-20 in excellent condition and in perfect working order. Featuring original two-tone cosmetics, a positively gleaming chrome faceplate, a Jensen P12R speaker, and a very original and professionally serviced circuit, this GA-20 is the perfect mid-size combo from the golden age of tube amplification. In many ways analogous to Fender’s narrow panel tweed amps of the same era, the GA-20 features a four input design with a 6V6 power tube pair, 5Y3 rectifier, and dual triode (12AX7, etc) tubes in the preamp. Offering distinctly different voicings between the single Microphone input and the three Instrument inputs, the GA-20 is at its most aggressive via the Mic channel. While this input does offer a modicum of clean headroom, it quickly overdrives with a sizzling, chewy sound that’s extremely smooth. The Tone control has an absolutely massive sweep, actually adding a bit more gain when turned up. Maxing out both Volume and Tone knobs yields a ripping, cutting sound that interacts equally well with single coils and humbuckers. The Instrument inputs have more range in the clean signal, with a full-bodied and sweet sound that works well with a host of effects pedals. Turning down the Tone knob on this channel and pushing the Volume can achieve a very nice bark and a spitty quality almost akin to certain fuzz boxes, depending on the guitar being used, and once again diming everything out delivers plenty of richness and roar. The point-to-point circuit has been professionally serviced, and the preamp retains a trio of original yellow Astrons, the same capacitors used in Fender’s narrow panel tweed circuits, and a key component in the musical nature of those preamps. There are a few modern Jupiter tubular caps in the preamp (which faithfully replicate the design and tonal properties of an Astron), and the power supply has been recapped with high quality F&Ts. The original output transformer is intact, and while it would have originally been mounted to the speaker frame, the transformer has been relocated to the chassis. The source-date code on the output transformer dates to the 14th week of 1957. The power transformer is a modern premium replacement courtesy of Mercury Magnetics, fitted with the original “GA-20″-embossed bell cover. The speaker is the original Jensen P12R alnico magnet driver which has a dark blue/green frame. The speaker has been recently professionally reconed, and the date code on the edge of the frame is from the 22nd week of’57. The original two-tone brown and fawn covering is remarkably clean, especially considering the fragility of this material compared to a conventional tolex or even tweed. The chrome plating on the faceplate is extremely nice, and the amp retains all of its original black silkscreen graphics. The gold Gibson badge is no longer present on the amp’s face, and the luggage-style handle is present.

Vintage mid 1970s Fender Vibrolux Reverb 1×12 tube guitar amp that has been fully serviced and sounds incredible. This amp was likely modified early on to the 1×12 configuration. There is a hole in the side of the amp that’s been covered with a wire grill and has no legs or back plates. This is not a museum piece and has had its share of work done over the years but it sounds phenomenal and is sure to be reliable for years to come. Definitely a one of a kind amplifier that not many will be able to match the tone of. I regret having to sell this but times are tough.

1965 Rickenbacker B9A 1x12 Vintage Tube Amp 6V6 with Tremolo, Jensen C12Q

Up for sale, a 1965 Rickenbacker B9A 1×12 tube amp in excellent condition and in perfect working order, complete with its original matched set of RCA tubes. A notably rare all-tube vintage Rickenbacker amp, the B9A features the same silver tolex as Rickenbacker’s hardshell cases of the era, freshly serviced and extremely original, loaded with the original Jensen C12Q speaker. While this circuit was also marketed by Rickenbacker with different cosmetics/branding as the Electro E12, the Rickenbacker iteration is notably rarer, falling somewhere sonically and feature-wise between a Tweed-era Fender Princeton and Vibrolux. The single ended Class A design pushes around 7 watts via a 6V6 power tube and 5Y3 rectifier, with a touch-sensitive overdriven bite and sweet saturation. The 12 speaker and larger cabinet offers significantly more low end and tonal breadth than most single ended amps of the era, and the bias-based tremolo circuit has a strong pulse and dimensional quality. The circuit retains the original transformer pair and the bent brass chassis has all of the original CTS pots, with visible date codes from the 17th week of’65. The circuit was recently serviced and all electrolytic caps are viable. The tube complement includes all of the original RCAs, with a 6V6 power tube, 5Y3 rectifier, and 7025s (12AX7) in the preamp. The original Jensen C12Q speaker is in great shape, and the date code on the edge of the frame is from the 22nd week of’65. The amp retains its original smooth silver tolex, stamped Rickenbacker badge, and luggage-style handle. The polished chrome faceplate exhibits minimal patina, retaining virtually all of the white silkscreen text and the original quartet of knobs.

Up for sale, a 1960s Meteor U-45B 1×12 combo amp in excellent condition and in perfect working order, complete with a footswitch to engage the Tremolo. This rare Japanese-made amp was crafted by Univox in OEM capacity for their little-seen Meteor brand, identical to the Univox-branded combo of the same name. Sparingly little information is available as to the nature of the Meteor brand specifically, but it was likely used by Unichord/Univox for the Japanese domestic market. This combo features a single channel, three-input design (Guitar, Acc, Aux), delivering 10W of power with simple Volume, Tone, and Tremolo (speed) controls. Surprisingly full-sounding given its form factor, this U-45B offers muscular, expansive lows (enhanced by the relative depth of the cabinet) and punchy, crisp trebles that aren’t overly pointed or brittle. The circuit cascades into creamy, harmonic-rich overdrive around 6 on the dial, thickening up further when diming the amp out. The Tremolo has a strong pulse, only active with the footswitch plugged in, with the knob governing the speed of the effect. The circuit is very original and recapped as needed, retaining the stock transformers. A three-prong cable has also been installed. Tubes include a matched pair of Toshiba 6BM8s, a 12AX7 and a 6X4 (rectifier). This amp is loaded with a Weber Signature Series Sig12F 12 speaker, designed for early’50s Tweed-style tone that accentuates the amp’s overdrive capabilities. There are just a few small marks on the black tolex, the gray grillcloth is clean, and the Meteor badge is present. The silkscreened graphics on the control plate are pristine, and the original trio of reflector cap knobs is present. A modern footswitch is included.
