Up for sale, a 1967 Fender Super Reverb in excellent condition and in perfect working order. The amp features its original quad of alnico 10 CTS speakers, pushing 40 watts of pure Fender Blackface clean tone via a pair of 6L6 power tubes. Perfect for gigging situations and an ideal recording amplifier, the amp provides pristine, muscly Fender cleans until you hit the 4-5 range on the volume dial, where a bit of tube and speaker breakup sends the amp into smooth overdrive. The Reverb is lush and deep, and the Tremolo has a nice pulse, with everything from swampy and slow to machine gun fast pulses. The circuit boasts a well-maintained preamp, retaining all of the original blue molded Ajax tone caps central to the smooth, musical character of Fender’s Blackface amps. All of the original CTS pots are intact, with visible date codes from’66, and the preamp is untouched save for a few small electrolytic caps. The power cable has been upgraded to a modern three-prong for safety’s sake, and the power supply features fresh high quality Sprague Atom filter caps. The amp features a pair of matched Sovtek 5881 (6L6) power tubes, along with a Groove Tubes 5U4 rectifier and a combination of modern and vintage valves in the preamp. The chassis itself is very clean, as is the original faceplate and stock witch hat knobs. The original quartet of CTS alnico speakers are intact, all with clean frames and original blue foil Fender stickers on the magnets. The original speaker harness is present, as is the tube chart which has a QH date stamp, translating to August of 1967. The original smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth are in remarkable shape, with only very minor wear around the edges of the cabinet and one small snag on the grillcloth near the lower edge of the baffle. The original nickel corners, sphinx glides (feet), chassis straps, chrome pat. Pending tilt-back legs, and raised “Fender” logo are present, and all hardware is in excellent shape. This well-maintained and cosmetically clean vintage Super Reverb has been serviced to sound its best and run reliably for years to come, with modern power tubes and a clean bill of health. Plugged in and pilot lamps light up. Plugged mic into other amp to test mic and it does not work. I have no other way to test this item. The case has been refinished and features original leather handle, rubber feet and metal hardware. The case comes with its hinged back cover. The on-off switch is missing from the mic. The tubes all have 7 volt heaters so it is difficult to see if the tube filaments glowing or not though I could see for sure 3 tubes glowed. I removed 10 Alnico speaker to inspect to find no holes, rips or tears, excellent condition. Tested speaker with battery to verify voice coil is good and speaker works. No further testing done. These are basically clones of the famous Jensen RP302, and are rumored to even share the same diaphragms. Tested through a crossover to moderate volume. The voice coils measure 7.1 and 9.8 ohms (DC Resistance). IMPORTANT NOTE: It’s HIGHLY-SUGGESTED that you only solder to the existing wires attached to these tweeters. The voice coil wire is about the size of a human hair on these, is also attached to the solder terminal, and is EXTREMELY fragile. These are not flawed, this is by design the way they were made. VINTAGE 1961 GIBSON GA8T GIBSONETTE AMPLIFIER 12 JENSEN ALNICO SPEAKER. This is an original 1961 GIBSON amp good working amp with the original 12 Jensen special design alnico magnet speaker. The tubes are 2- 6BM8 power tubes, one is a Amperex the other a Westinghouse. The rectifier tube is a Sylvania 5V4 and the single pre amp tube is a 12 B27 I don’t see a name on it. This is a hard to find even in their day, matched pair of Goodmans Audiom 50 speakers. Several variants of this speaker were used in the earliest Vox amplifiers. Tested and working and sounding great. These were never overdriven and came directly from a vintage amplified cabinet with low wattage. Original copper wire speaker cables are still attached. The original cones are in very good condition with two small holes and some hairline cracking near the edge in a few spots. Speakers however are sturdy and solid with clean rip free spiders and cloth covered speaker leads tightly attached to the cone. The finish on the cast metal frame is in great condition. Careful 10 watt amplifier matching is important to fully appreciate these speakers and not damage them.
