1959 Fender Bassman 5F6-A Amplifier. This vintage Bassman has the original tweed covering, grill cloth and all of the main components are original. Only some of the capacitors have been changed. The code on the tube chart has worn off but the Chassis Code is “BM02387″ which dates it to 1959. See photos for the rest of the stamps and markings. It has recently been serviced, has been fully tested and is in excellent working order. With that said, only the minimum was done to keep as many original parts intact as possible. It is an old, vintage amp and may need further service if you plan to gig with it or put a lot more miles on it. The exterior has some general wear but it’s very clean overall. There is some discoloration on the top from where it was in a road case and the foam reacted to it, but this was cleaned up by the repair shop. There is some corrosion on the top chrome plate also. (I HAD THE VOLUME SETTING AT ABOUT 3-4) LOW HUM, BUT NOTHING EXCESSIVE. HAS SOME LOW SNOWY STATIC UNTIL IT WARMS UP FOR A FEW MINUTES. DELIVERS THAT GREAT FENDER PUNCH AND SPARKLE. HAS “10 O’CLOCK” SET SCREW CONTROL KNOBS. POTS, TRANSFORMERS, CHASSIS AND OXFORD SPEAKERS ARE ALL DATED 1965. I HAVE DONE NO SERVICING I DID NOTICE THE DEEP SWITCH DOESN’T SEEM TO ADD BOTTOM WHEN IN THE ON POSITION. POWER CABLE IS FUNCTIONAL, BUT WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED. Up for sale, a 1979 Fender Bassman 135 in excellent condition and in perfect working order. Introduced at the tail end of Fender’s Silverface era, the Bassman “135″ was outfitted with Fender’s ultra linear transformers, designed to coax maximal tube power and clean headroom out of a quartet of 6L6 power tubes. A Bassman that lives up to its name as a viable bass amp for stage and studio use, the Bassman 135 also offers pristine, bold cleans applicable for guitar, pedal steel, or pairing with a Rhodes piano. Dime out the Master Volume for sparkling, balanced cleans or crank the preamp and keep the Master low for more compressed overdrive and grit. The circuit is virtually untouched, retaining the Schumacher-made transformers which date to’79, and date codes on the original CTS pots are from 1979 as well. All of the original blue molded caps are intact in the preamp too. Originally an “Export” model, the power transformer has additional taps for international voltages, currently wired for USA 120v use. The tube complement includes matching original Fender-branded preamp tubes, and the power tubes are a matched quartet of Sovtek 5881s (6L6GC). The original smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth with faded orange stripe are intact, and the tube chart is intact inside the cabinet. All of the original hardware is present including the nickel corners chassis straps, handle, and sphinx glides. All of the original witch hat knobs are present as well, along with the raised Fender logo.

Super nice mid 60s blackface Bassman head and 2 x 12 cab. The amp head has been serviced by our local repair shop and everything is functioning as it should. The speaker cab is very nice and clean. The grill cloth appears to have been replaced. The speakers are mid 60s VOX Bulldogs (date code matches up with the age of the amp).

This just got back from servicing by our techs and is fully functional, ready to go, sounds great! Pair of 220k resistors confirms this model is a AB165 pre-CBS / early CBS. Regarding pre-CBS vs early CBS, we’d like to clarify a possible point of contention with early 1965 black panel Fender amps. Apparently some people feel that 1965 is the hard cutoff date for pre-CBS though. We are not experts in any case so please do your own research to verify any appropriate information and analyze the detailed photos yourself to make sure you are comfortable with what you are purchasing. Original 1958 Fender Bassman 5f6-a complete working chassis (minus tubes). If you’re here, you probably know these Original 5f6 amps sound amazing, but if you haven’t experienced an Original late 50′s Bassman amp in person you’ll certainly be in for a treat. The chassis plating has light pitting, the control panel overall is very clean, one added preamp tube socket previously, so there is a filled hole under the chassis, not visible when installed. Two small holes on the ends of the chassis and one small screw securing a broken pinch weld in the one corner. Also not visible when installed in an cabinet. Overall very good vintage original condition. Has a replaced power transformer (Soursound), 3 prong power cord, has bias trim pot, replaced selenium rectifier with diode, caps replaced upon previous service, 3 pots, 4 input jacks and 2 rca output jacks. This is a killer sounding amp and a wicked players piece! Please let me know if you require any additional pictures or have any questions.

I had asked him if he ever did anything to it and he said, “No”. It had never had any problems and still has all the original parts, hardware and tubes. I bought the amp and changed the silverface faceplate to a blackface re- issue faceplate so that is the only non-original part that I know of other than the piggy back slide mount hardware and some caps. I remember that this amp played really loud and also has the original 3 prong plug. I took this amp to my amp tech this week, who replaced all the filter caps, the fuse and went over the operation so everything should be working perfectly. This amp is one of the very last and latest Bassman’s made Dec. 1971 before they changed the circuit in Jan, 1972 and renamed the new model the Bassman 50! It’s quite RARE! Serial # A 63194. Black ink stamped BROWN. Black ink stamp inside chassis- Richard Hand Dec 1971. Black ink stamp- 43033. Power Trans # J022814. 606 3071 7 (30th week of 1971). 606131 (31st week of 1971). 606-1-46 (46th week of 1971). It might serve the buyers purpose to bring up the power slowly with a variac since these amp heads are over 50 years old and have not been used for a few decades. The fine item you are considering is a Vintage 1970′s Fender Bassman 50 Tube Guitar Bass Amplifier Amp & 2 x15 Speaker Cabinet. This cool vintage silver face Fender Bassman 50 amp head and speaker cabinet combo is in typical used condition, with the amp powering up and sounding great. There are some expected issues, such as the amp clicking and popping for a few minutes once it has been turned on, but eventually it calms down and runs pretty silently. The switches and pots are scratchy from age, and really the amp has been unused in very long storage so it should be gone through by an amp tech, thoroughly internally cleaned and like with most old amps, re-caped, but as I said, it is functional as it is. Just expect it to be in “unrestored” condition and having the various issues an amp from the’70′s that has been in long storage might have. Cosmetically, the map makes a nie overall impression, but the lower right corner of the speaker grille is bending out a bit. Some fresh Velcro would hold this down, as pressure from my finger sets it back into the correct position. Also, there are metal arms that come out of the head designed to attach it to the speaker cabinet, but I do not have the screws that bolt the head to the cabinet. The 2 x 15 cabinet sounds great and has removable wheels on the bottom. Please see my photos to have a look at this nice item.
