I picked this amp head up from the family of the guy that was the backup sax player for Clarence Clemens in Springsteens band in the 80s or 90s. Really thats what they told me. So this head looks good. The pics on the tube sticker say AA864 and the other stamp says OC. It sure looks like an O. If its not an o then it sure aint a Q. So anyways I have seen conflicting data on dating and it appears this is a 64 or 65. So the OC means March of 64 and I guess the AA864 means 65. I plugged it in and turned it on and nothin. Then I checked and there was no fuse so I put a 2 or a 4 amp buss fuse in and it came on and lasted about 30 seconds then the fuse blew. So there you have it. Please look close at the pics, they are part of the description. The numbers on it are 125A13A and 606502. 1963 Fender Bassman 6G6B Blonde Brownface Vintage Piggyback Tube Amp Oxford 12M6

Up for sale, a 1963 Fender Bassman in excellent condition and in perfect working order, featuring a complete vintage tube set and matched pair of Oxford 12M6 speakers. An early iteration of the “Piggyback” Bassman with rough blonde tolex and oxblood grillcloth, this Brownface-era Fender drives two vintage Tung Sol 5881 (6L6GC) power tubes for 40 powerful watts of pure tube goodness. Like the Tweed amps that preceded it, the Brownface circuits respond well to picking dynamics with Fender’s hi-fi, glassy clean tones. The EQ controls have a huge range and after around 5 on the Volume dial the amp cascades into very rich tube overdrive that compresses noticeably and is particularly roaring and thick. It’s the kind of natural tube saturation that only comes from pushing a well-designed Fender circuit to its limit. A Pre-CBS Fender Blonde Bassman was used on more Beatles recording sessions than the Vox AC30, was a particular favorite of Pete Townshend, and has become the amp forever linked with Brian Setzer’s classic Rockabilly tones. It’s hard to beat this particular Bassman circuit for a tone that bridges the gap between the dynamic grit of the Tweed circuits and the shimmery cleans of the Blackface line. The circuit is very original and has been well-maintained and recently serviced with fresh F&T filter caps. A few new smaller electrolytics in the preamp, and a modern three-prong power cable. All of the famed blue molded Ajax capacitors are intact in the preamp, an essential part of the sweet, musical character of Fender’s Brownface circuits. With stock Stackpole pots, carbon comp resistors, and cloth wire. All of the Schumacher-made transformers are intact, with date codes that span late 1962 and early’63. The tube chart is intact inside the head cabinet, with an MC date stamp which translates to March of 1963. The tube compliment includes a pair of vintage Tung So power tubes that have been properly biased, and the preamp tubes are a matched set of vintage RCAs. The cabinet retains a matched pair of Oxford 12M6 speakers, an optimal and original pairing for the 6G6B Bassman circuit, with date stamps on the edges of the frames from the 42nd week of’62. Both speakers also boast professional and recent recones, ensuring a particularly clear sound with refined, tight bass response. Both the head and cabinet retain their original rough blonde tolex, and both have just been freshly regrilled with correct oxblood grillcloth. The tolex exhibits some various marks commensurate with age, with one small patch of replaced tolex on the back panel of the speaker cab. Both flat Fender logos on the head and cab are original, and the clean faceplate retains its full compliment of cream barrel knobs. The hardware includes the original piggyback clip bars, nickel corners, sphinx glides, and tilt-back legs, with a new pair of Fender piggyback thumbscrews. 1969 Fender Bassman Drip Edge Silverface Vintage Tube Amp with 2x12 Cabinet

Up for sale, a 1969 Fender Bassman head with accompanying tall 2×12 speaker cabinet in excellent condition and in perfect working order. This fully serviced vintage Fender head has transitional “drip edge” aluminum trim and an early Silverface faceplate. Recently retubed and biased with a pair of Tung Sol 6L6 power tubes, the circuit has been “Blackfaced” and reverted to the original and most revered AA864 design. The amp has a clear, powerful Fender tone that’s ideal for use with guitar or bass. The perfect platform for players who use a variety of pedals, the Bassman delivers a robust and dynamic tone, and after around 5 on the Volume dial the amp starts to push into smooth, lightly compressed tube overdrive. The circuit features the original power transformer and choke produced by Fender’s primary vintage transformer supplier, Schumacher, while the output transformer is a vintage-spec replacement, also Fender-branded and produced by Schumacher. The circuit features a professional recap of the power supply with new Sprague Atoms, as well as a new bias capacitor and a few new caps in the preamp to ensure everything is operating within original factory spec. All of the original CTS pots are intact, dating as far back as early’68. A three-prong power cable has been installed as well. The chassis itself is quite clean, with a stunning Silverface faceplate, turquoise lettering, and original black witch hat knobs. The original tube chart is also present inside the head cabinet. The cabinet is loaded with the original pair of Utah-made Fender-branded speakers with immaculate black frames, original cones, and clean orange and silver foil labels on the ceramic magnets. The cab is 100% stock and sounds great, perfectly amplifying the bold, round cleans and smooth drive of the Blackfaced AA864 Bassman circuit. The original smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth with turquoise stripe are intact on the head as well. The stock corners, handle caps, and sphinx glides (feet) are also intact. The piggyback clip bars are present too, but do not connect to this vertical cab configuration. Cosmetically, the head and cab show some minor scuffs and edge wear, but as the photos can attest, this vintage Fender presents very well. Freshly retubed and recapped and reverted to the coveted AA864 Bassman circuit, this vintage Bassman head and 2×12 cab delivers the goods in an imposing, gig-worthy package. Check out our shop “Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, ” and please let us know if we can answer any questions! 1969 Fender Bassman Amp Silverface Drip Edge Tube Head Amplifier Vintage

1969 Fender Bassman Silverface Drip Edge Tube Head Amplifier – Vintage. Here is an early example of a Fender Bassman Silverface Drip Edge. This Fender Bassman exhibits some minor cosmetic wear and small scratches on the faceplate but is in good condition overall. There is not a lot of wear on the Tolex like other heads of this age you see on the market. The Fender Bassman is fully functional and operates as intended. The previous owner swapped the original filter caps with 22uf 500v as well as giving it a complete set of new GT tubes. We put this amp through its paces and it sounds great and offers a ton of clean headroom! The amp has a gorgeous “bubbly” tone at it’s lower volumes but when it’s pushed, the richness begins to thicken up without getting too “fizzy”. At high volumes, a transparent overdriven tone is introduced that is great for those creamy, soloing leads. The amplifier was built with bass players in mind but is also a great head for guitar players as well, especially ones with lots of effect pedals. The item pictured is the one you will be receiving. No additional accessories included. Tone House Studios has new Guitar and Recording Studio gear being added every week! Be sure to check out our world-class. 1967 Fender Bassman Vintage Blackface Piggyback Tube Amp 2x12 AB165 Circuit

Up for sale, a 1967 Fender Bassman head and matching 2×12 cab excellent condition and in perfect working order. This vintage Blackface Fender amp features a well-maintained and very original circuit, with stock transformers and a fresh recap of the power supply. The AB165 circuit delivers clarity, warmth, and headroom, and this Bassman excels at sweet and articulate Fender clean tones with the distinctive punch of the accompanying 2×12 closed-back cabinet design. Once you reach about 5 on the volume dial, the circuit starts to overdrive smoothly and compress a bit, for a raw, thick sound that’s perfect for guitar or bass. It’s a simple and pure vintage Fender “piggyback” head and cab setup that provides a perfect platform for effect pedals, and is ready for stage and studio use. The AB165 circuit retains all of the original Schumacher transformers which date to late’66. The stock CTS pots date to early 1966 as well, while the chassis stamp puts the amp’s manufacture at early’67. The preamp retains the full compliment of original blue molded Ajax caps, as well as a few new smaller bypass and bias caps to ensure optimal operation. The power amp has also been professionally recapped with top-tier F&T capacitors, and the power cable changed to a modern three-prong. On the inside of the head cabinet, the original tube chart is present with a “QD” date stamp which translates to April of 1967. The speaker cab is loaded with a pair of vintage Fender-branded 12 drivers including one Oxford and one Utah made speaker with nearly identical black frames and original blue foil Fender labels on the ceramic magnets. The speakers deliver a bold and smooth sound with ideal punch and top end detail without being overly bright. Cosmetically, this is a clean and well cared for Bassman with original smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth on both the head and speaker cabinet. There are some expected small scuffs and nicks on the edges of the enclosures, but no serious wear of any kind, and this amp would look great in a studio collection. All of the original hardware is present, including the tilt-back chrome legs, nickel corners, handles, sphinx glides (feet), and Fender logos. The faceplate is also quite clean and complete with original witch hat knobs. There’s a bit of localized patina and light surface rust on the tilt-back legs and bottom corners of the cabinet, but that’s about the extent of any wear. This Bassman is clean, complete, and works exactly as intended for delivering powerful Fender cleans and thick overdriven textures. Check out our shop “Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, ” and please let us know if we can answer any questions! Up for sale, a 1967 Fender Bassman tube amplifier head in excellent condition and in good working order. Recently serviced and complete with fresh power tubes, this Bassman works exactly as intended with the AB165 circuit. Tonally, this amp delivers the rich and powerful tones associated with the Blackface sound, and the cleans are robust and detailed. Pushing the amp past around 5 on the Volume dial of either channel begins to coax shades of overdrive out of the circuit, with moderate compression and plenty of crunch and bite when you dime the amp out. Perfect for guitar or bass, this amp truly excels when delivering sweet, sparkling cleans. The circuit is very original with stock Schumacher transformers that both date to early’67. The power supply has been recapped with high quality F&Ts, and there are a couple new Sprague Orange Drop caps in the preamp as well as a new bias cap to ensure stable voltages to the power tubes. The preamp is otherwise nearly untouched and retains all but one of the original blue molded Ajax tone caps that are an essential part of the Blackface sound. The original CTS pots are also all accounted for, dating back to mid-1966. The power cable has also been upgraded to a modern three-prong variety. Present inside the head cab, the stock tube chart is present, with a “QF” date stamp which translates to June of 1967. Cosmetically, this amp is very clean clean, with original smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth. Save for a new pair of Fender piggyback clip bars, all of the original hardware is present including the chassis straps, handle caps, and sphinx glides. The faceplate shows limited wear with bold silkscreened graphics and stock witch hat knobs. The back panel is a modern replacement that matches the otherwise original tolex on the head. This Bassman is very original, professionally serviced, and recently retubed with a matched pair of JJ 6L6s.
