Vintage Tube Amp

Up for sale here is this neat little vintage Knight KM15 tube amplifier, complete with tubes. This is used with moderate wear and some rust on the transformers, but it’s not too bad. There are four brackets screwed to the corners by a previous owner–I have no idea why. I brought this up on a Variac (not included) and it works great and plays well, with no hums or buzzes. This is a neat little mono (one-channel) amplifier, and you could enjoy it as-is or modify it to be an awesome guitar amp. When I got this, it was missing the knobs and tubes, so I replaced the knobs with some nice repro knobs and tubed it up. The tubes are two 12AX7 (vintage Made in USA 1956 CBS 12AX7s), two EL84/6BQ5 (Russian equivalents), and one 6V4 rectifier (NOS Tesla equivalent, I think Hungarian). The tubes all work fine. I cleaned the controls, so they work smoothly as well. This has three controls–volume, bass, and treble. Volume is on the left, bass is in the middle, treble is on the right. The pot for treble has less travel than the others, for whatever reason. Underneath the wiring is nice and clean, with a pair of. 022 uf 600v Sprague Black Beauty caps for that great vintage sound. The can cap is original as far as I know and runs nice and cool–no issues there. The back has a jack for an AC cord–not sure if this is a previous owner’s modification or what. This includes the bottom cover but does not have a top cage/cover, sorry. Please see my pictures for details. If you have any questions, please ask. Up for sale, a 1985 Mesa Boogie Mark III “Black Dot” head in excellent condition and in perfect working order. From the first year of Mark III production, this long box Mesa head features original white bronco tolex and the tell-tale black dot on the back of the chassis noting the factory tweaks made to this particular Mesa, namely resulting in incredible headroom and more clean punch than later versions. Everything from bold cleans to smooth overdrive to thick searing crunch is available from the Mark III with every push pull option and trick in the book for maximum versatility and tonal tweakage. The circuit retains the original transformers, and the stock fan and reverb pan are present as well. The amp is stocked with a matched quad of Wing C Svetlana 6L6GC power tubes that sound great and have plenty of life left. Cosmetically, this is a very clean and complete head, with all original knobs and slider tips present. Brand new high quality Sprague and Illinois electrolytic Capacitors throughout the amp, professionally installed.. If your comparing prices take that into consideration. The original capacitors on mostly all the vintage clubs had some issues with overheating over time because of being located near the power tube sockets. So we replaced all the electrolytic capacitors as a preventative measure with high quality american capacitors. It will last another 30 years. Power tube socket solder joints were re flowed. These were some of things from my experience that needed attention almost always in these amps. Amp is ready to play. Vent grills look indented in the pictures, but have been removed and flattened and look perfect. As you can see by the pictures this amp is in beautiful condition. It wont last long at this price.
