Vintage Bogen Challenger CHA 75A Tube Amplifier For Parts or Repair. Missing Most of Tubes. For parts or repair only.

Danelectro Series D, Model 89 (Master) Tube Amp. All original except tubes and some capacitors. This amp was made to be used with an optional “slave” amp but functions independently as well. A previous owner attached a “MASTER” nameplate (see photo). There are some “nail polish” setting marks on the control panel which a previous owner applied. Amp works fine, including tremolo, but it has a fixed low level hissing/spitting sound at any volume setting, with or without input signal. 15 Utah Speaker: Cone is marked 10675441? ; Frame is marked V15M1 and 328625. Note: When playing a guitar through the amp at higher volume and increased bass there is a distinct buzz which is cancelled by physical pressure applied to the chassis. It is not a speaker problem – it is purely mechanical which can likely be resolved by tweaking the chassis mounting. I mention this because I don’t want the new owner to think it is a speaker or electronic problem. Original canvas cover is in poor condition but could serve as a pattern to make a new one. Leather handle appears original and is in very good usable condition. No foot switch included. See photos for overall item condition. Vintage Model CH30 Challenger 5 Knob 6 Tube Amplifier 1940s? Pictures with tubes and knobs installed and removed so interested buyers could see condition in those areas. Tubes all seemed to match the numbers imprinted on the amplifier. In vintage used and untested condition with signs of use and wear. Has scratches, paint loss, some rusting, the one piece of detached speaker cord/connector looks very worn. Corners all have paint loss and scratches. Baseplate under the wiring has a fragile paper schematic partially glued or stuck to it. I replaced two missing screws on the cover and one screw in the baseplate. Power cord is approximately 6.5 feet long. I had read somewhere if you are unfamiliar with tube radios/amps that you are better off not testing them because you could damage the unit? Unsure if that is true or not but for that reason I have not plugged this in. Please be your own expert when determining completeness and correctness of this piece. I do my best to explain what I see. See photos for condition.

RARE VINTAGE 1960′S BOGEN CHALLENGER 75A TUBE AMPLIFIER. HARD TO FIND MODEL. IT WILL NEED A COMPLETE GOING THROUGH. NO TUBES WITH THIS UNIT. THE POWER CORD WILL NEED REPLACED. ALL OF THE SCREWS HOLDING THE CAGE AND THE BOTTOM PLATE WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED, NOT THE RIGHT SCREWS HOLDING THESE ON. THIS IS A PROJECT AMP ONLY.

MOT OF THE TIME THEY ARE RUSTED (FROM SITTING OUT IN A SHED) AND NEED REPAINT. I WOULD NOT TOUCH THIS ONE OTHER THAN A LITTLE POLISHING. IT WILL MOST LIKELY NEED SOME ELECTRICAL WORK. LOOKS LIKE IT STILL HAS THE OLD WAX CAPS THAT WILL PROBABLY POP IF YOU POWER IT ON. IT SHOULD BE A FUN EASY RESTORATION THOUGH. THE POWER CORD WAS BRITTLE AND MAKING A TOTAL MESS SO I DID CUT IT OFF. THE PLUG CONNECTOR HOWEVER IS THERE AND EASY TO REWIRE (THESE ARE ALMOST ALWAYS MISSING). ALL OTHERS TO USE EIS.
