1965 Fender Vibrolux Reverb Blackface Vintage 2x10 Tube Amp AA864 with Jensen C10N

Up for sale, a 1965 Fender Vibrolux Reverb in excellent condition and in perfect working order. With good reason, the Vibrolux is one of the most desirable Fender Blackface models for its ideal size and power, performing well both on stage and in the studio with shimmering Fender cleans and smooth, lightly compressed tube overdrive when you push the amp towards 10 on the volume dial. Clean and sweet up til about 5 on the volume knob (with a perceived volume that’s loud enough to keep up with an aggressive drummer), the Vibrolux has smooth attack and tube rectifier sag, not to mention lush tube Reverb and punchy Tremolo. The preamp is 100% original, save for a new bias cap to regulate the power tubes, retaining a full compliment of original blue molded Ajax caps, a key ingredient in the sweet, musical character of Fender’s Blackface circuits. All of the original transformers are intact, manufactured by Schumacher (Fender’s primary transformer supplier in the’60s) and dating to 1965. All of the original CTS pots are intact too, with visible date codes from’65, matching the chassis stamp. The power supply has been professionally recapped with Sprague Atoms. The Jensen 10 speakers are a matched pair of vintage drivers with clean black frames and foil stickers on the ceramic magnets, factory spec for this model yet dating to’66. These speakers are the perfect pairing for the Vibrolux circuit, offering Jense’s hi-fi clarity and articulation. The tube chart is intact, with a faded “OE” date stamp which translates to May of 1966. The pair of brand new Tung Sol 5881 (6L6) power tubes are optimally biased, with a vintage RCA 5AR4 rectifier and an array of modern and vintage preamp tubes from the likes of Amperex and General Electric. The original smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth are intact, with sparingly little tolex wear and uniform aging of the grillcloth. The hardware includes the full compliment of witch hat knobs (with a couple vintage substitutes), raised Fender logo, handle caps, chassis straps, corners, and sphinx glides (feet). 1960 Fender Concert Pre-CBS Brownface Vintage Tube Amp 5G12 with Jensen P10Q

Up for sale, a 1960 Fender Concert in exceptional, collector-grade condition and in perfect working order. The very first iteration of the Concert offered, this amp has strong ties to the Tweed-era Fender amps which were being phased out concurrently with this example. The feature set includes Triad transformers, a quad of original Jensen P10Q alnico speakers, a 5G12 circuit with five tube preamp, early pinkish brown tolex and oxblood grillcloth with gold stripe, and the unusual factory-plugged “pulse adjust” hole on the back panel for an extra control Fender omitted from the circuit after the panels had already been printed. The combination of the Brownface 5G12 circuit and four matching original P10Q Jensen speakers is truly something to behold. The amp delivers sweet, dynamic clean tones with incredible sparkle and a certain high fidelity clarity noticeable as soon as you strum your first chord. Turn it up past 5 and the amp starts to smoothly overdrive with just the right amount of bite and the complex midrange bark that makes Fender’s Brownface amps the perfect middle ground between the growl and attitude of Fender’s Tweed amps and the glassy shimmer of the Blackface era. The EQ controls have an incredible wide sweep, and this amp is uncommonly warm for any Fender, never feeling too bright or brittle, with a focused bass register and ample headroom. The second channel boasts the Harmonic Vibrato circuit, which was the only Fender “Tremolo” circuit to ever have a true pitch shifting effect, with deep pulsating warbles. The circuit is virtually untouched save for a couple swapped component values to ensure optimal functionality of the vibrato and proper tube bias. The Triad output and power transformers are intact, with a Schumacher-made choke that dates to the 11th week of’60. The amp retains all of original yellow Astron molded tone caps in the preamp, central to the sweet, musical sound of Fender’s Brownface-era circuits, and visible codes on the CTS pots date to the 8th week of’60. The original Astron Minimite filter caps are all still intact and functional too, and the amp retains its original gray two-prong power cable. The Jensen P10Q speakers are the original matched quad, extremely valuable in their own right with particularly clean teal frames, original bell covers, and minty Jensen foil stickers. The dates on the edges of the frames are from the 14th week of’60, and the frames are also stamped with mini “JD” stamps, identical to the date stamp on the tube chart, translating to April of 1960. The original pinkish brown tolex and oxblood with gold stripe grillcloth are intact and in remarkable shape. There is a single minor cigarette burn on top, some staining on the sides from sap, telegraphing the knots in the solid wood enclosure, and some minor wear on the bottom of the enclosure including small caster mounting holes. The original chassis straps, nickel corners, sphinx glides, and flat “Fender” logo are all in great shape and present, and even the original “dogbone” handle is intact (although it does show signs of minor splitting). This is an extremely rare Fender Concert in stunning, original condition, produced very early in its Brownface production run. 1958 Guild Masteramp 66-J Vintage 1x12 Tube Amplifier Tweed Jensen P12Q 6V6

Up for sale, a 1958 Guild Masteramp model 66-J, recently serviced and in perfect working order. One of the earliest tube amps produced by Guild, this tweed wonder shares many similarities with the narrow panel Fender Deluxe, with a dual 6V6 output stage and 5Y3 rectifier, dual triode preamp tubes, four input design, and alnico Jensen 12 speaker. The tone is warm, dynamic, and clear, with a surprising amount of headroom and just enough overdrive to deliver ideal bite and smooth saturation when you dime it out. The bias-based tremolo circuit has a nice strong pulse as well, and the original wedge footswitch for activating the effect is included too! Produced for only a few short years when the Guild guitar company first came into existence, the Masteramp 66-J is quite rare and was made in-house at their factory in Hoboken, New Jersey. While there is some credence to reports that Ampeg supplied Guild with certain elements of their amp builds, the tonal response is more analogous to Fender amps of the era. The circuit is very original, with stock transformers, and a complete recap of the main power supply as well as a few caps in the preamp to keep the amp operating within original factory spec. The stock Centralab pots are all intact and date to the first weeks of 1958. The power tubes are a fresh pair of Electro Harmonix 6V6s, along with a vintage USA-made 5Y3 rectifier and combination of modern and vintage preamp tubes. The speaker is an era-correct Jensen P12Q that has ideal headroom and a near mint blueish green speaker frame with the original Jensen foil sticker on the magnet bell. The original two-tone tweed and brown leatherette covering is intact, with wear along the edges of the enclosure and on the bottom of the cab in particular. The original oxblood grillcloth is intact too, with distinctive “spaghetti” swirls, and a modern leather handle has been installed. The chrome chassis retains the majority of the white silkscreen lettering, the chrome still has plenty of shine with minimal pitting, and the stock Dakaware knobs are present. Check out our shop “Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, ” and please let us know if we can answer any questions! We use double thick boxes, 1″ foam, and industrial 1/2″ bubble wrap to ensure that your amp arrives safely. 1958 Fender Harvard Narrow Panel Tweed 5F10 Vintage Pre-CBS Tube Amp Jensen P10R

Up for sale, a 1958 Fender Harvard in excellent condition and in perfect working order. The Harvard is a unique model, sitting just below the Deluxe in terms of output with two 6V6 power tubes pushing 10 glorious all-tube watts through a Jensen P10R speaker. The Harvard also has the distinction of being the only Tweed era Fender model name to not make the transition to subsequent Brown and Blackface amp series. Offering a similar tone stack to the Tweed-era 5E3 Deluxe, yet with a single-triode 6AT6 powering the initial gain stage and a class AB fixed bias design unique among Fender’s Tweeds, the Harvard delivers on the promise of sweet tube saturation and the extremely dynamic, harmonic-rich tones which are a hallmark of the narrow panel tweed Fender amps. Outfitted with simple Volume and Tone controls, the amp has quite a bit of muscle, surprising headroom, and a bold bass register that belies its size, pushing into lightly compressed overdrive with plenty of sizzle and grit beyond 5 on the Volume dial. The cabinet size (noticeably bigger than the Champ and Princeton) adds a certain low end fullness to the tone as well, with great bloom to the notes and a richness that’s particularly evident when played with a humbucker-equipped guitar. The 5F10 circuit is extremely clean and well-maintained, with new Sprague Atom filter caps and smaller tubular caps in the preamp as well. The original Stackpole pots are intact, dating to the 38th week of’57, and the amp retains its original jacks, carbon comp resistors, and cloth-covered leads. The original Triad open bell output transformer is intact, while the power transformer is a boutique faithfully wound modern clone furnished by Mercury Magnetics. The faceplate has plenty of shine, with some requisite pitting of the chrome, yet with the majority of the original white silkscreened lettering intact. The speaker is an era-correct Jensen P10R with a very clean teal frame, stock foil label on the alnico magnet, and date code on the edge of the frame from 1959. The tube chart is present and quite clean as well, denoting the 5F10 circuit and also still featuring a cleanly stamped “HA” date code, which translates to January of 1958. The original lacquered tweed is intact and lightly ambered. A well-kept example, this amp shows some modest scuffing and edge wear consistent with age. The leather handle is original, and the original Fender Harvard badge is intact. The Harvard is commonly referenced as the “Steve Cropper amp, ” having been used extensively by that artist to capture the tones heard with Booker T and the MGs on tracks like Green Onions, and on other notable hits like Otis Redding’s Dock of the Bay. Fender’s 1×10 Harvard certainly does not disappoint and is the perfect stage and studio secret weapon. 1963 Ampeg Reverberocket R-12R Vintage Tube Amp Blue Diamond, Jensen C12R, Ftsw

Up for sale, a 1963 Ampeg R-12R Reverberocket in exceptional condition and perfect working order. The amp is complete with the original blue diamond tolex, Jensen C12R speaker, and footswitch, loaded with a bevy of vintage tubes including a matched pair of Hammond 6V6s. Under the oversight of Ampeg founder Everett Hull, Ampeg guitar amps were geared towards Jazz guitarists who wanted clean headroom and zero breakup, but according to former Ampeg employee Ken Fischer (long before starting his own company Trainwreck Amplifiers), there was one model that “slipped through the cracks”, and that was the R-12R Reverberocket. This amp has a fantastically spongy feel with plenty of chewy compression, thanks is large part to the octal preamp tubes (6SN7s and 6SL7s in this case), and picking dynamics are glorious, particularly when the amp is cranked to “edge of breakup” tones. The Reverberocket boasts footswitchable bias-based tremolo, along with onboard reverb (the first amp to do so, predating Fender’s Vibroverb by a year or two), which is thick and lush without sacrificing clarity. The circuit is extremely original, with only a few new Sprague Orange Drop capacitors and a couple 5W resistors in the preamp to keep everything working within original factory spec. The original CTS pots date to the 22nd week of’63, with one modern Alpha pot in the mix as well. Both transformers are original, manufactured for Ampeg by Electrical Windings and both dating to mid-1963. The date stamp on the edge of the original Jensen C12R speaker frame is from the 33rd week of’63, and the speaker has a particularly clean frame and original bell cover with minty Jensen foil sticker. The tube chart is intact inside the cabinet with hand-written tube designations and the original stamped serial number from’63. The tube compliment includes mostly vintage valves, with a matched pair of properly biased Hammond 6V6 power tubes. The chrome faceplate is quite clean, with the majority of the original white silkscreened text intact and just a speckling of light surface patina. All of the original knobs are present too. The original Blue Diamond tolex is extremely well-kept, showing only very minor edge wear and one small tear through the material on the lower right corner with a spot of blue marker touchup. The stock metal corners, feet, and raised Ampeg logo are intact, and the handle is original. The original two-button Reverb/Tremolo footswitch is included. Check out our shop “Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, ” and please let us know if we can answer any questions! Without having to curb your enthusiasm of basking in the glow of your new piece of gear, think in terms of preserving it in its mint condition until certain you are keeping it. For instance, if it were rack gear, we would recommend avoiding racking it until you were certain it was a “keeper”. Thus preventing any possible “rack rash” or scratches. If it were a guitar pedal, avoid sticking Velcro on it and mounting to your pedal board until it passed your test to be knighted and sit at your round table of pedals. Although tempting to have both of your favorite things together, put down the chicken wings slathered in barbecue sauce that is dripping all over your leather vest and beard and be sure your hands are clean and dry before trying out your awesome new gear. Pet odors, cigarette and other smoke items can also affect the “newness” of your gear. Also, keep the gear away from your friend with the Billy Ray Cyrus mullet driving the Camaro. He’s a good guy and he means well, but years of smoke tar and beer bongs have dulled his perceptions. 1956 Fender Deluxe Tweed Pre-CBS Narrow Panel Vintage Tube Amp with Jensen P12R

Up for sale, a 1956 Fender Deluxe in excellent condition and in perfect working order. Few circuits are more desired and emulated than the narrow panel Tweed 5E3, and this amp delivers everything you’d expect from a classic and well cared for amp from the last iteration of the Tweed line. Incredibly dynamic and harmonically rich, the Deluxe can be glassy and clear at low volumes, but for most players the magic is in this amp’s overdrive capabilities. Especially when connecting the two channels with a small jumper 1/4 cable, the interactive pair of Volume controls can dial in everything from fully saturated roar and snarl, to the particular sweet buzzy qualities with ideal midrange bite that you often times can’t coax out of any other Tweed circuit. This amp reacts well to a host of effects pedals and different guitars, but truly shines with the guitar plugged straight into the amp, using your volume knob to coax clean rhythm tones and singing leads with the twist of a knob. The circuit has been freshly serviced by our techs here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, with new Sprague Atom filter caps, Mallory tubular capacitors, and carbon comp resistors. The preamp features original Stackpole pots which date to the 41st week of’55, along with a couple of the original Yellow Astron capacitors. The amp is loaded with a matched pair of properly biased Electro Harmonix 6V6s, an RCA 5Y3 rectifier, and preamp tubes from the likes of RCA and Groove Tubes. The speaker is the original Jensen P12R alnico 12 driver with a very clean teal frame and a recent recone. This speaker dates to the 16th week of’56, and retains the original speaker harness with cloth covered wire and stock 1/4 input as well. The other most pertinent date code is the “FG” stamp on the very clean tube chart, which translates to July of’56. The chrome on the chassis is incredibly clean, shining like few Tweeds still do with all of the original white text present along with stock chicken head knobs. In similar condition, the original tweed shows light ambering, with some. Minor requisite scuffing on the edges of the cabinet and a few bald corners. Both back panels are original as well, as is the oxblood grillcloth with gold stripe, while the leather handle is a modern replacement. This Deluxe is an example that will satisfy collectors and serious players alike, and the amp has recently been given a clean bill of health, ready for your next gig or studio session. Up for sale, a 1966 Silvertone model 1484 “Twin Twelve” piggyback tube amplifier, fully serviced and complete with the original Jensen C12Q speaker pair and full compliment of vintage USA-made tubes. Manufactured by Danelectro in the USA and marketed through Sears via their house brand “Silvertone, ” the 1484 was one of the top-tier department store amps of its day, and also an amp that’s found favor with todays players including Jack White and Beck. The 1484 “Twin Twelve” has an extremely smooth and rich breakup, with warm clean tones at low volumes that give way to a touch of tube overdrive at roughly half volume, and reach full tube saturation with a touch of compression anywhere beyond 7 on the dial. Both channels feature a pair of inputs (high and low) and both channels share the built-in Reverb and Tremolo effects. While the Tremolo has a nice strong pulse that gets quite thick and deep, the Reverb is infamous in its own right for its thin, trashy sound that’s perfect for lo-fi and surf tunes, with a unique gain structure and chiming top end character. The circuit has been serviced with just a few new signal caps in the preamp as needed, and the power supply has been rebuilt with all new electrolytics as well, with a modern three-prong power cable installed as well as a conventional 1/4 female jack on the head for ease of use with other cabinets. The original power transformer is intact, and the output transformer is a modern, factory-spec replacement. The original CTS pots date to the 17th week of 1966, and the speakers are the original pair of C12Q Jensen 12 drivers which date to the 21st week of’66. The tube compliment includes a matched pari of small bottle GE 6L6s, along with the matched set of original Silvertone-branded preamp tubes, manufactured by the likes of RCA and Amperex. All of the original barrel knobs are intact on the polished aluminum faceplate, which also retains all of the original black silkscreen text. The original gray textured covering and gold sparkle grillcloth are intact. The cabinets show some modest edge wear, particularly on the speaker cab, yet the grillcloth has plenty of sparkle in the thread, and both the head and speaker cab are structurally sound. This amp is gig-ready and fully serviced for optimal performance and longevity. Check out our shop “Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, ” and please let us know if we can answer any questions!
