The Conrad-Johnson Premier Four is a revered high-power tube amplifier from the early 1980s, delivering around 100 watts per channel using a quartet of E34L output tubes per channel in a fully dual-mono design. Built with CJ’s hallmark minimalist philosophy and premium components-such as polystyrene and polypropylene capacitors-the Premier Four offers a lush, dynamic, and spacious sound with outstanding low-end control and airy highs. Its massive transformers and rugged chassis underscore its audiophile pedigree, while the sonic presentation remains warm, musical, and effortlessly engaging. Still sought after by serious tube aficionados, the Premier Four is a standout in Conrad-Johnson’s legacy of combining tube warmth with real-world drive and authority. We don’t just power test our units and then write “tested, works” in the title (like a lot of other sellers we see). We usually always include a video unique to every item for you to see for yourself (for working units). Apart from that we put work into every unit, specializing in cosmetics which ranges from cleaning pots/switches to polishing the windows on receivers and conditioning the wood on wooden cases and speakers. In good cosmetic condition, has some scratches/marks, see pictures for details. Unit has been cleaned to an extent but could use a better cleaning. Only comes with what you see in the pictures which includes the unit itself only. Please note some tubes are missing. Unit has been powered up using a variac so power is confirmed working but we did not test past that due to some burnt internal components we noticed while inspecting the amp around the tube bases. Highly recommended to use a professional tech for repair.
