Vintage Tube Amp

VINTAGE GIBSON GA-5 VACUUM TUBE GUITAR AMP REBUILT RECAPPED 10 WATT AMPLIFIER. This is a nice, vacuum tube, Gibson GA-5 Skylark guitar amplifier. It makes about 10 watts of sound. The amp tone controls give it a wide range of tone from ice pick to train. The amp is pedal friendly and makes it a rock machine. This Skylark was probably made around the mid 1960′s so it is approaching 60 years old. That why these amps are refurbished. The new filter capacitors and signal caps bring the tone back to life. Resistors where replaced when more than ten percent out of balance. Taking these steps make these tube amps durable and reliable. The amp sounds new but still looks vintage. The tolex on this amp is tough and lightly cleaned. There are a few worn spots, loose edges and some paint spots but not too bad. The speaker on the amp was replaced with a vintage CTS alnico speaker. The “death cap” was removed. A grounded power cord was added. A new handle that closely resemble the old was added. New feet were added. The back panel is gone. I tried to keep it looking original. This is a Skylark model that uses a solid state rectifier, one 12AU7 preamp tube and a pair of EL84/6BQ5 power tubes. All three tubes are vintage, US-made tubes. I was not able to find a schematic of this Skylark model but was not required for rebuild. Nice pair of Vintage W5M Mono block HiFi tube power amps. These were my main amps for a few years after they were fully rebuilt. 30 watts per channel (amp). Cosmetically and electronically excellent and ready to run. These are not full of cheap Russian tubes, but have nice mostly old USA tubes and sound amazing. These are 6L6 based Williamson style amps, and each uses a pair of 12AU7′s in the preamp and driver stages, and a 5R4 tube rectifier. I installed a pilot light in one of them. One has the larger “old” style output transformer, and one has the “new” type. Both are Peerless of course. Some guys say the older larger one has better bass, while some guys say the newer one has special nickel plated laminates and sounds even better with more “clarity”. Read about them on the interweb. I couldn’t tell the difference in everyday use as differences in room. Will have more of an impact, but suit yourself. Any difference is very subtle if even detectable, (and I used large Altec 604-8G studio monitor speakers). Perfect working tube stereo. 5 Watts per channel. Gets pretty loud imo. The solid state rectifier gives your more clean headroom. Small size thats convenient for any office or bedroom. Cherry wood sides and rubber feet are an added bonus. Bottom is exposed to round out that industrial look. Could use a Magnavox logo, but keep in mind this is pulled from an old console and updated. Hi, here for sale is a classic vintage stereo tube power amplifier, the legendary Harman Kardon Citation 2. This has recently been fully serviced and works and sounds great. Tube lineup: six input 12BY7A tubes (Sylvania NOS) and four output KT88 tubes (recent Electro-Harmonix). Electrolytics in the power supply were replaced, and many caps were also changed.
