Vintage Tube Amp

Here’s a very early Carvin tube amplifier from around 1950. It appears to be a Model 205, but I cannot be certain. The tubes are two 12J5, two 6V6GT, and a 6X5. It has a 12 inch permanent magnet speaker. Probably manufactured by Magna/Magnatone in California. The speaker code is 371041 (41st week of 1950). One pot is readable with a code of 304048 (48th week of 1950). The amp has an updated 3 prong grounded power cord. The two 12J5 tubes are “new old stock” and the other tubes test good. The amp has a loud hum when you turn it on, so it likely needs filter caps. If you are into early Carvin stuff, or early vintage tube amps in general, this is a great find. This VHT Special 6 has been modded for harp and sounds great and is pretty feedback resistant. JJ tubes and a Jupiter 10sc 10 speaker. I was never a fan of the looks of the stock VHT, so I re-did the baffle and added a custom special 6 badge.

For sale is a very nice VHT Special 6 Tube Amp Head. This is one of the best “sleeper” amps out there (look it up). 6 watts of power with a few little additions that give the amp a wide range of sounds (Hi/Lo inputs, Boost, High/Low power switch). But what sets this amp apart is the hand-wired chassis on a traditional eyelet board instead of a pcb board. That makes the amp easy to modify or to upgrade if desired. This amp is in excellent condition and has never been out of the house. It comes with an E-H 6V6 GT power tube and a Tung-Sol 12AX7 pre-amp tube. VHT special 6 hand wired 6 watt amp had tube swap done and added Eminence Lil’buddy speaker for killer vintage tone, crunch and early breakup. This amp gets loud no more need to lug those heavy amps around anymore. As good of tone as vintage tweed amps at have the price. Great guitar and harp amps in small package. It is in excellent condition. I have replaced the stock power tube with a JJ 6v6 power tube for a smoother tone. This amp has two channels, clean and ultra, an effects loop, and an included foot switch that gives a gain boost. There are no defects with this unit and it has been packed very carefully.
