The 1484, along with its mighty 6-speakered sister , the 1485, have become the in-demand Silvertone amps of the current era. Onstage and in the studio with Jack White, Beck, and others recently, the awesome and unique tube sound of the 1484 and 1485 proudly powers the punch of some of today’s best rock. The Dano-built 1484 was a twin-twelve 60-watt amp boasting clear, mighty sound! The catalog listing advertised this amp for guitar or bass usage, and had all the amenities you could want in a medium sized (and priced) package: reverb, tremolo, two channels bridgeable for even MORE crunch! Silvertone 1484 in excellent condition, recently serviced by Andy at Revamp in LA. Electrolytics and filter caps replaced -3 prong power cord and safety ground added; AC polarity switch disconnected -pots cleaned -new Weber WOT1484 replacement output transformer installed the stock transformer in these amps is woefully inadequate and they often blow. Weber makes a custom replacement which captures all the sound of the original but is much more sturdy. Reverb works and sounds awesome -tremolo works and sounds awesome.. The fine item you are considering is a Vintage Silvertone Reverberation Twin Twelve 1474 Tube Guitar Amplifier Amp With Footswitch. This neat vintage amp just came out of long storage, so its still a bit dusty despite my cleaning, and when I powered it up, it took a long time to stop clicking and popping, but it eventually did settle down, and it works! The tremolo is working, but the reverb is not, and the reverb tank is loose in the cabinet, although still connected by wires. While the amp is working, it really needs to be gone through, with the contacts, pots and tube sockets cleaned, and the sound Im getting out of the amp, while very Jack White is pretty thin and crunchy and sounds like there are some tubes in there that are having some issues, so some tubes may need to be replaced. I know theres a big argument about replacing caps and the old style two prong plug thats still on this amp, and thats up to the new owner, but I will say that all the popping and clicking Im hearing on power up and for a few minutes afterward are most likely dry caps that need to be replaced. What I believe is the original footswitch is also included, although the ¼ phono plug has been cut off the end of the jack. The power on light is not lighting and the amp shows plenty of typical cosmetic wear, which gives it a very authentic vintage look, and the amp makes a nice overall cosmetic impression. Oh, also, the amp does not have a back cover and comes just as it is in my photos. The amp measures approximately 29 long by 19 ½ tall by 9 deep and both 12 speakers are working. Since this is a vintage amp with very old components and tubes I cannot guarantee that it may not need parts replaced as per my description above. Vintage Silvertone Original Twin Twelve Guitar Amplifier #1484 from the 1960s. Original Jensen speakers with a speaker jack on the back of the cab which was an upgrade so the heard is not hardwired to the cab. Tubes have been replaced with Sovtek and Electro Harmonics tubes. Sounds great, has some wear but nothing major to discuss. Some scratches on cover. Packing: we are going to use a professional service to pack your item. It will be triple bubbled and double boxed with a ton of cushioning. The unit sounds terrific. We had it professionally tested and everything is working as it should be meaning meters, lamps. The speaker terminal strip has no broken tabs. Some small face scuffing on side edge due to being rack mounted but no other damage than that. Up for sale, a 1962 Fender Twin in excellent condition and in perfect working order. Fender’s premier tube combo amp in the Pre-CBS Brownface era, the Twin featured an identical chassis to their largest piggyback Fender amp, the Showman. A 2×12 affair with green frame Jensen speakers and 80 watts of power via a quad of matched General Electric 6L6 power tubes, this Twin is a powerhouse. The cleans are big, bold, and warm, with a huge range from the EQ controls and Fender’s famed Harmonic Vibrato circuit. Unlike traditional tremolo (volume modulation), this circuit has true pitch shifting vibrato with Leslie-esque warbles and thick, pulsating swirls. The perfect middle ground between the dynamic, saturated tones of the earlier Tweed era amps and the clarity and shimmering cleans of the later Blackface line, this Showman has a very warm and nuanced sound, with absolutely giant transformers that keep the low end thick and focused. The cabinet is brand new and built to vintage spec by Mojotone with rough blonde tolex, solid pine baffle, and oxblood grillcloth. The cab is fitted with genuine Fender hardware including nickel corners, dogbone handle, chassis straps, and chrome tilt-back legs. The Jensen speakers are both genuine vintage USA-made speakers with one alnico P12PS and one cermaic C12PS. Both speakers have clean green frames, original bell covers, and Jensen foil labels. The circuit has been fully serviced and recapped, with new bypass capacitors and new filter caps as well. The majority of the original famed Ajax blue molded tone caps are intact, providing the sweetness, clarity, and balance found with vintage Fender preamps. All of the stock pots and carbon comp resistors are present as well, along with original cloth wiring. The amp boasts a quad of vintage USA-made General Electric 6L6 power tubes as well as a host of vintage and newer valves in the preamp. The original transformers are all intact, with the absolutely massive output transformer often known as the “Dick Dale” transformer, spec’d to be cleaner and more powerful than any Fender transformer that preceded it. The original faceplate is in great shape with all of the stock cream barrel knobs. This Twin is thoroughly serviced with all original transformers, a vintage quad of power tubes, vintage Jensen speakers, and a new Mojotone cab made to vintage spec. Up for sale, a 1967 Fender Twin Reverb in excellent condition and in perfect working order. One of the last amps from’67 to retain the Blackface AB763 circuit, this amp has been thoroughly serviced in-house here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar and is studio ready. The very original’67 chassis has been matched with a vintage pair of Jensen C12N speakers and a new Mojotone solid pine speaker cabinet with new smooth blonde tolex and gold sparkle grillcloth, reminiscent of Fender’s transitional’64 specs. The tone is full on Blackface power and sparkle with rich cleans that exemplify the kind of clarity and sweetness for which the AB763 circuit is known. The reverb has a particularly lush sound and strong decay, while the tremolo throbs with the best. A perfect platform for pedals and ideal for amplifying everything from a guitar or pedal steel to your favorite Fender Rhodes or vintage combo organ, this Twin Reverb is dialed in to sound its best. The circuit is very original, retaining all of the stock transformers with 1967 date codes, and the CTS pots date to late’67 as well. The preamp has been thoroughly serviced with new Sprague Orange Drop tone caps and smaller bypass caps, and the power amp has been freshly recapped as well to ensure stable, reliable use. The speakers are a matched pair of Jensen C12Ns from early’68. Both of these speakers have been freshly reconed and sound great with tight, focused tone and plenty of power. Cosmetically, this amp is near mint as one would expect, given the brand new tolex and grillcloth on the new Mojotone speaker cab. The faceplate is a new reissue Blackface-style plate paired with all of the original witch hat knobs. The chassis straps are original, while the corners and sphinx glides (feet) are modern.
