1966 Supro Model 88T, Valco Made, Vintage Tube Combo Amplifier, N. Thanks for your interest! This Supro Model 88T, also sometimes referred to as the 1688T, is in brand new and original condition, having just been removed from the original box. The Supro was delivered new to Ziegler Music in Aurora, Illinois, where it was placed in storage and never opened. After Zeigler closed in the 2000s, the amp, along with the other store stock, including many N. Guitars from the 1960s and 1970s, was placed in a storage unit until it was discovered after the owners passing by the family. I unboxed the amp, checked the tubes and the wiring, and tried it out. It works perfectly, although I did replace the cord to an updated three prong cord for safety. The new owner of this amp up for sale can leave the cord installed or re-install the old one for display, according to the intended use. Again, this Supro amp is brand new and just out of the box, and yes, the box and factory tags are included with the sale, as is the period newspaper it was packed with. This is a rare opportunity to acquire an brand new amp from the 1960s. This is a rare model, and a clean example of a classic Supro amp made by Valco. The 1688T/88T is a 2×12 amp originally made for bass, but is really a guitar amp, and is the predecessor to the more common Thunderbolt. There are four separate inputs on this amp that all sound uniquely different, and one of the smoothest tremolos around. Watts – Approx 40. Tubes – 6L6 Power Tubes. Speakers – 2×12 Speakers. Supro Amplifier by Valco Chicago 51. Crank it up, this amp is ready to “wail”. This amps sounds great full-up. This amp has a new 10 speaker and. New JJ’s brand 6SL7 preamp tube. This 12 volt amp is clean sounding from 1 to 3. On the volume dial, then starts to break-up at 3.5 and becomes progressively more distorted as the volume is turned up. One Brand New Preamp 6SL7 JJ brand. Fourteen and a half inches tall. Seven a half deep. This amp is serviced and the old power cord is replaced. By a six-foot-long grounded cord. The Jensen speaker gives the amp a deeper bottom end with no brittle highs at all. The treble control knob is very responsive and provides a full pallet of tones from bass to treble. Manufactured by Stackpole Electronics. 304-303 = 3rd week of 1943 or 1953. 304-707 = 7th week of 1947 or 1957. Item: Vintage 1960′s Valco Supro S6606 Super Guitar Tube Amplifier. A vintage 1960s Valco Supro Super tube amplifier. This one is in all original, clean condition. Grill is very clean, control panel shows some marks but no rusting/damage, covering is very clean with some general marks but no major tears/rips/etc. Speaker is original Jensen special design blue label. And now the important bit, these Valcos are a very similar circuit to tweed champs (imagine that) and therefore have that to die for tweed, low wattage saturation that is so sought after. Enjoy the sound of beautifully saturated tube distortion that only comes from tubes working to their fullest at (somewhat) household volumes.
