Up for sale, a 1967 Harmony model 525 tube amp in excellent condition and in perfect working order. Made in Chicago, USA by Valco (the parent company known for producing the Supro, National, and Airline brands among others), the 525 is essentially a Supro Thunderbolt with the added benefit of individual Treble and Bass controls. Rich, powerful, and nuanced, the 525 pushes 35 watts through a pair of original RCA 6L6GC power tubes and an original Jensen C15P speaker. For everything from rich cleans and wooly rhythm tones to saturated tube overdrive further up on the volume dial, this Harmony delivers a pure sound with a simple yet ingenious circuit. The signature sizzle, drive, and subtle compression of Valco/Supro’s preamp design offers a very dynamic and articulate signal balanced by the warmth and fullness of the single 15 speaker. The circuit is very original, with CTS pots that date to 1967 and original impressively sized transformers as well. The faceplate retains its original gleaming chrome plating, with all of the original black silkscreen graphics and lettering, as well as a minty trio of chrome insert knobs. The Jensen C15P speaker has a near mint black speaker frame, gold foil label on the ceramic magnet, and date code from’67. The original black ostrich tolex is extremely clean and the grill cloth retains its vivid red racing stripes. The Valco-made Harmony 525 is a classic, oft-overlooked model with the same preamp, tube and speaker compliment, and rich tone as the Supro Thunderbolt. Up for sale, a 1964 Supro Thunderbolt with rare two-tone blonde and black tolex and a complete original RCA tube set. An Airline-branded variant, this amp is otherwise identical to its Supro-branded brother. This legendary tube amp was made in the USA by Valco, and is generally considered to be Jimmy Page’s amp of choice for crafting many of guitar sounds on early Led Zeppelin records. Lightly compressed, focused, and balanced, the Thunderbolt pushes roughly 35 watts through a pair of 6L6 power tubes and a Jensen C15N speaker. For everything from clean, wooly rhythm tones to saturated tube overdrive further up on the volume dial, the Thunderbolt delivers a pure sound with a simple yet ingenious circuit and only two knobs for Volume and Tone. The circuit is extremely original, and both transformers are stock, with original CTS pots that date to’64. Notable for being an early example of the Thunderbolt with a rectifier tube and sweet, tube driven “sag”, the amp boasts an original RCA 5U4 in the rectifier position, along with a pair of RCA-branded 6L6GC gray plate power tubes that are properly biased. The chassis has consistent light surface rust, yet all of the original black silkscreen text is intact, along with the stock pair of knobs. The speaker is an era-correct Jensen 15 C15N speaker, and this ceramic magnet speaker has an extremely clean gray frame and original foil label on the magnet. The cabinet retains its original two-tone tolex and salt and pepper grillcloth, with modest wear on the top of the enclosure and a few requisite scuffs and snags on the tolex as a whole. A rare Harmony/Valco amp that sounds terrific! 1960s Harmony H430 (made by Valco) in great overall condition. Looks to be original other than the power cable which has been converted to a 3 prong. Two channels, one with reverb/tremolo. Volume/tone control on each channel plus treble and bass inputs on each channel. These are fairly rare and don’t pop up that often. Vintage Montgomery Ward / Valco Amp Head. 2 Channel, Reverb and Tremolo. 4 x 6L6s, 3 x 12AX7, and a 6V6 all of which look to be RCA. This amp is a vintage tube amp which looks to be in its original state minus the updated 3 prong cord added by one of the previous owners. Having it inspected by a amp tech is always a wise idea to insure several more years of awesome use. Both channels work and so does the reverb and tremolo. There is a hum when the amp is on and resting, w. Hich is very common for older amps. It does sound very good though when it is played and all the knobs and switches seam to work. The hum doesnt increase when adding volume or adding reverb or tremolo. All 3 lights work but the 1st one looks to be out of position and not as bright. Cabinet does have a few dings with rips in the vinyl, but solid and clean for the most part. One rubber foot is broken also. Faceplate does have some pitting from its age. Solid amp with great bones, but not in perfect condition. Please ask any and all questions and I will do my best to answer. Ridiculous but it will be packed correctly. Thing has footswitch trilogy that’s got speed n rate type controls, anazibg sounding tremolo, great lil old tube amp… I was told it was probably valco made.. Anyone w info I can add pls send it.. Orig spkr was dried n split.. W univox instead orpheum.. All caps seem orig, voiced w ceramics n mica, n pop caps, n is pretty quite on idle , despite its orig 2 prong cord…. S early Asis n is roughly 55 yrs old.. Has fender 12spkr….. I have orig light alnico spkr.. I’m caregiving my elderly sick mom in Fla… Amp been at her place for long while…. Great to mic n use in a studio like tool for tones ya can only get from these sleeper amps…. Since in all way in south Fla… Hope this goes to good handy home… Def unique lil amp.. Up for sale is this vintage Gretsch 6159 tube amp. The amp was made in 1965 by Valco. It is all original with 2 Jensen 12 speakers (both dating to 1965) and it still has the 2 prong power cable. Don’t let the “bass amp” logo fool you. These amps were made with the intention of them being used for bass, guitar, and/or accordion. I have been using the amp for guitar and it sounds amazing! It currently has Groove tube power tubes and all of the other tubes are RCA. It has an incredible tremolo that I would compare to that of a Magnatone. I prefer this tremolo over any other new or vintage Fender amp I’ve tried. The tremolo is very smooth with nice depth to it. Overall, the amp is in very good condition, especially considering it is over 50 years old. There are some marks in the tolex, a few stains and small snags in the grill cloth, and some oxidation on the chrome parts. It is rare to find one of these in all original condition and in this good of shape. Most of the examples I’ve come across have 1 or both grill cloth badges broken and have undergone modifications. Up for sale, a 1951 Oahu Chicago Model 51, recently serviced and ready for stage and studio use. This early Oahu amp was manufactured in Chicago by the parent company, Valco, who made amps under the National, Supro, and Gretsch brands, among others. Powered by a pair of 6V6 tubes and voiced through a modern Jensen 10″ alnico speaker, there’s a midrange richness and detail to the breakup of these amps that is signature “Valco tone. The bloom, light compression, and creamy nature of the sound reacts well with a variety of guitar pickups and makes this amp a perfect secret weapon for studio sessions, and it really shines with a microphone in front of it. The circuit has been thoroughly serviced by our techs here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, with new Mallory caps in the preamp where necessary, Sprague Atom filter caps, and a new three-prong power cable. The original Stackpole pots are intact, along with the original transformers. Mounted to the back panel, an external speaker jack has been installed, with an on/off switch to engage or disengage the internal speaker as needed. In addition to the new Jensen speaker, the original Rola speaker is also included. The amp retains the majority of the original white covering, with the exception of the bottom and left side of the enclosure. The black segmented grillcloth is intact and the metal “Oahu” badge is present, along with the original molded handle.
