This VHT Special 6 has been modded for harp and sounds great and is pretty feedback resistant. JJ tubes and a Jupiter 10sc 10 speaker. I was never a fan of the looks of the stock VHT, so I re-did the baffle and added a custom special 6 badge.

VHT Special 6 Amp Head Hand Wired Tube Amp

For sale is a very nice VHT Special 6 Tube Amp Head. This is one of the best “sleeper” amps out there (look it up). 6 watts of power with a few little additions that give the amp a wide range of sounds (Hi/Lo inputs, Boost, High/Low power switch). But what sets this amp apart is the hand-wired chassis on a traditional eyelet board instead of a pcb board. That makes the amp easy to modify or to upgrade if desired. This amp is in excellent condition and has never been out of the house. It comes with an E-H 6V6 GT power tube and a Tung-Sol 12AX7 pre-amp tube. Check the pics and let me know if you have any questions, and thanks for looking.

Takt 1960s vintage vacuum tube hand wired guitar amp

After Much deliberation I have decided to part with this little monster. Not much info out there on this one so I’ll tell you what I think I know. It was sitting around in the basement it was used and dusty and had not seen the light of day in a few years. I plugged it in and it fired right up and sounded great. I’ve got a lot of great deals on gear throughout the years but this was one of the best and one that I’ve kept the longest. These were made in japan in the early 60′s. It is hand wired, all vacuum tube. The speaker is 3w 80hm and 5 1/2 paper cone. Tubes are one 6AR5 and two 6AV6. I’ve never replaced the tubes and assume they are original. I guessing the power output is 5-10watts but I don’t really know. It appears to be all original with only a few cosmetic issues. The chrome cover for the Strap handle is missing and there are paint rubs and dirt smudges here and there. The grill is perfect without rips or stains. The red vinyl covering is also in very good shape, without any major rips or holes. The amp has never had any repairs or modifications to my knowledge. This thing sounds great. The paper cone speaker breaks up very musically. It handles pedals surprisingly well. I did find a youtube video of someone playing a similar amp if you want to check it out. Takt Amp and Ampeg Heavy Stud Guitar on youtube I’ve used this in the studio and it records fantastic. It can get a little noisy depending on pedals you use in front and what its sitting next too. But those have always been easy issues to solve. That being said Im not going to let it go without a fight. I don’t see any currently for sale anywhere online. I’m going to start at the low end of the middle and see where it goes. I have other amps that I don’t like near as much (pignose, Marshall, & mesa boogie) that I will be listing soon along with some other instruments and gear, so stay tuned (gotta thin the herd). This is a nice Drake L7 amplifier. It’s in fair cosmetic condition and from a smoke-free home, but certainly isn’t going to win any beauty contests. One knob is missing the metal inlay. Also, the aluminum trim has some sort of brown residue on it. It’s on there pretty good but may come off with the right chemical. Aside from that, it’s the small scuffs/scratches you’d expect from equipment this old. I would note that the power supply is pretty dirty/dusty inside and would benefit from being blown out with an air compressor. The amp itself is clean inside. It’s currently wired for 120VAC and has two Eimac tubes installed. We see no sign of modification and all components appear original. The amplifier runs well. For CW, plate voltage sits at 2100VDC with no load. Keyed-down with 60 watts, we got 600 watts out. For SSB, plate voltage sits at 3000VDC with no load. Ensure this amp will meet your needs, and just as important, be sure you’re comfortable operating it. I’ll say it one more time…. Read the manual before purchasing and operating the amplifier. I can take the tubes out if you like, but I would personally recommend leaving them in. They are tight in the socket and are not going to come out. But, as I said, it’s your call and I’ll do whatever you prefer. Lastly, Please note that the plate meter isn’t operational. Also, I would encourage you to replace the power supply’s capacitors before putting the amplifier into service. It wouldn’t be a bad idea to give the RF deck a going-though as well and replacing some of it’s components. As I mentioned above, all components look original and probably 40 years old. If you expect 40 year old capacitors to hold up well for much longer, you’re going to be disappointed sooner than later. If you need to hire someone to do this for you, I can get you in touch with a qualified technician. If you prefer one carrier over the other, please make that request when paying for the item. Rest assured, you’ll receive your item in excellent condition! WHAT’S INCLUDED IN THE SALE: You will only receive what is shown in the photographs. If you do not see it in the photos, it is likely not included in the sale. That includes manuals, packaging, power cords, accessories, and so on. Vintage 1960s Hand Wired Tube Guitar Amp Head Akai Conversion like Fender, Vox, Ampeg. Excellent condition, no issues. Listen to samples of the clean and overdrive sounds these amps can produce with P90, Strat, and humbucking pickups at: (Its a friend, not me playing). The Sammies from Charlotte, NC performing a cover of Gang Of Four’s “To Hell With Poverty” in the studio for the virtual benefit show “Love Thy Neighbor: A Tribute to Benefit Roof Above”. The guitarist on the right, with the darker Strat, is playing through one of these amps in this video. This amp was designed and constructed using the basic foundation of a 1960s (Akai M8) Roberts 770X tube reel to reel tape recorder. The amplifier circuitry has been optimized to specifically serve as a guitar amp rather than as hi-fi equipment. Where practical the original vintage components, including the tubes, have been kept. All filter and bypass capacitors have recently been replaced and a 3 prong power cord added. The amp is in excellent operating condition and looks almost new. There are 2 instruments inputs which share the common volume and tone controls. The 2 inputs however employ separate, and different, input stage tubes and therefore sound very different. The first input uses an EF86 (6267) tube. These tubes were used in 1960s vintage VOX amps, and are still used in some Dr. Z, Matchless, and other boutique amplifiers. The 2nd input uses a 12AX7 (12AD7) tube. 12AX7s are the most common preamp tubes used in guitar amplifiers such as Fender, Mesa Boogie, and Marshall. All of the tubes included are the original vintage 1960s tubes. This amp is very quiet (background noise and hum) and breaks up nicely at reasonable volume levels. The tone circuit uses a modified passive Baxandall/James circuit (Bass and Treble controls) similar to the type of tone stacks used in the original Ampeg, Orange, and some Dr. Additionally, a boost switch increases the gain and frequency response of the amp providing additional tonal flexibility. The output stage is a single-ended class A power amp. This amp uses an EL84 (6BQ5). Single-ended class A amps were used in many lower power 1950s-60s Fender Tweed and Blackface amps and in Vox’s AC-4, which also used the EL84 tube. The amp uses a 6X4 tube rectifier. For reference, the Layla album was recorded with both Clapton and Allman playing single-ended Class A, 5 watt Fender Champ amplifiers. This amp is great for rehearsal, small venue use, and especially studio recording. The cabinet was custom designed and constructed for this amp. The amp comes with the decorative vent grill which can be removed exposing the glowing tubes, which looks very cool. A schematic diagram will be provided for future reference. The item “Vintage 1960s Hand Wired Akai M8 Tube Guitar Amp Conversion Fender, Vox, Ampeg” is in sale since Monday, January 18, 2021. This item is in the category “Musical Instruments & Gear\Guitars & Basses\Guitar Amplifiers”. The seller is “biznen151″ and is located in Raleigh, North Carolina. All tube guitar amp from vintage parts hand wired se fake knobs. Up for sale is my latest amp called fake knobs because of the use of magnavox knobs on the front of the amp. This amp has a modern design that has 2 volume or gain controls plus a master volume, around 5 watts power. The amp is on the verge of break up and the more you turn up the gain the more the dirt. Besides using a 6l6 you can use a el 34 or other power tubes. The amp comes with a jan rca coke bottle tube, 2 vintage american 12ax7s and a 5y3 vintage tube. The transformers are old american iron. The pots are new alpha brand, f and t caps. Lots of good stuff. There are 150 dollars worth of parts on this amp, it could be modified easily to what you want , very maintenance friendly. The amp slides out after removing 4 screws for easy access. The top of amp is wood from a 1940s radio, with nice wood grain. Here is a link to a demo of the amp on you tube. Or type in artaholica amps. This is a one of a kind hand built amp that is signed and dated by me. For the price of a good guitar pedal you can have a tube amp to play with. Amp comes with a schematic that it is based on. The item “All tube guitar amp from vintage parts hand wired se fake knobs 5 watts” is in sale since Saturday, July 18, 2020.
