Ampeg B-15 N Portaflex tube amp. The Ampeg B-15N Portaflex of the 1960s, is considered the most recorded bass amplifier in history — and with good reason. This all-tube “fliptop” bass combo amp pairs a 25-watt top with simple volume and tone controls to a 1×15 cabinet which contributes significantly to the deep, classic tone that the B-15N can get you in a heartbeat. The top tier of bass players quickly adopted the B-15, including James Jamerson, John Paul Jones and Bill Wyman, and these amps remain studio staples even today. When it comes time to move the B-15N, the top can be flipped and secured inside the cabinet for transport, giving you the portability of combo amps and the stability and flexibility of piggyback stacks. Up for sale is an amazing rare gem of an amp by Gibson….. Gibson is revered (and documented) as one of the top two guitar manufacturers in the world, but they are highly underrated as amp makers. This exquisite piece of work is remarkably it’s own animal….. Not really attributable in sound to any of the “big 3″ amp makers: Marshall, Fender or Vox. This amp has a voice all its own, and is very decidedly, well…. The clean is a nice “jazzy clean, ” which I believe is the genre for which this amp was originally made. And the tube complement along with the speakers and the ENORMOUS transformer really gives this amp a nice, warm and huge sound! There is no master volume on this amp, so to get any gain and/or drive, you have to keep turning this 18 watter up until you get the dirt to your taste. If I was to describe the amp’s overdrive in “big 3″ terms, I would describe it as a jangly vox meets a not so dirty Fender tweed amp. It has an excellent sounding onboard tremolo (which is turned on and off with the included 1-button footswitch) The power tubes are not very old. The preamp and other tubes are RCA and are a little older. The power cord/plug is of the safer 3-prong variety, which is always a good thing! This is a very hard to find bird. This girl is trying to find its one in a million home. But if you do, I promise you, you will not regret pulling the trigger on this immediately! Up for sale is an excellent and underrated tube amp by Peavey.. This one flies under the radar, but it is a very good sounding tube amp. Just check all of the youtube videos and what the owners have to say about this unit. Runs on 3 preamp tubes as well 2 6L6JJ power tubes. This amp seems to have a little bit more control knobs than a typical Peavey Tube amp from the 70s and 80s, like the Peavey Bravo. And this is a good thing! Gives it some really good versatility and allows the owner to have a lot of control over their sound, with many shades available. The typical knobs, like bass, mid and treble, are very reactive! Youve got enough options there to really change up the flavors of your sounds! But then youve also got the ability to pull out the pre (amp) knob and gives you a little more brightness to your sound.. Perfect for humbucker guitars, Theres the pump knob, which I think is the analog to the saturation knobs on the other aforementioned Peavey tube amps, which increases the gain, saturation and sustain to your overdrive. Perfect for adjusting your solos and leads. You can also pull the post (gain) knob and make you sound smooth as Peavey calls it. Sounds to me like it adds some bass frequencies and possibly some low mid frequencies. Perfect for single coil guitars. Pull out the high knob on your parametric eq, and it makes your sound thick according to Peavey. Sounds like low mids get boosted once again, and possibly some high mids and bass/lows. Did I mention that this amp also has a presence control? Add real spring reverb that sounds really good to the mix, and youve got a total all-in-one unit with the nice warm sounds of valves! Many good sounds can had from this box. Even if you keep the pre-amp gain low, the pump control low, and turn up the post or power amp volume, you can get a very nice classic rock crunch. It would also work well for country rhythms and for solos in soft rock. No problems with the sound of this particular unit either! The power tubes are fairly new and all you get from this machine is tone, tone, tone! No cleaning pots necessary at this time…. None of them are scratchy!!!!!! 1963 Alamo Embassy all original full tube amp and in great shape. Only a few capacitors appropriately replaced to ensure proper function as well as a 3 prong cord added for safety. Speaker is an original Jensen. Tube rectifier 5Y3GT as well as 6V6, 12AX7 and a 6AV6 for the tremolo. Some tolex peal and separation in places but nothing major. On the metal faceplate, the lettering is clear with some scuffs here and there. See all pics for condition detail. Has a 1/4 connection for a foot pedal but none included in this case but those are not hard to find if you need foot control of the tremolo. The tremolo can still be managed through the knobs without any switch required. The amp sounds great and breaks up nicely at higher volumes. Please let me know if you have any questions. 100% working Heathkit AA-151 tube amplifier in amazing condition. The amp has been tested to turn on and output sound, was tested on a set of bookshelf speakers at 4ohm. The unit is very clean with minimal defects as shown in pictures. Defects are as follows, slight bend in the chrome face trim on the source side, power cord has been replaced, aux power outlets are slightly cracked, and the smaller silver capicator?
