A Special Amplifier for a Special Discriminating Owner. This McIntosh MC275 is from the 1960s and has been played and treated with the utmost care during its lifetime so far. One would be hard pressed to find another example in as lovely a condition as this amp. It has just now undergone a complete restoration from the countrys premier McIntosh Factory Restoration Center, Absolute Sound Laboratories in Minnesota www. Their work is not only electrically perfect but, as the last three photos in the series show, executed with exceptional craftsmanship and beauty. Absolute Sound Labs has been an authorized McIntosh Service facility since 1969. Recently, McIntosh has limited their own in-house factory servicing of older tube and early solid-state equipment. Absolute Sound Labs was selected as one of a very limited number of McIntosh Service Clinics to handle these issues. Absolute Sound Labs is proud to be so highly regarded by the McIntosh company. We have the necessary technical information, parts and test equipment to restore your McIntosh equipment to like-new condition. A detailed description of their restoration process is presented on their website and includes. Removal of any non-factory modifications to restore the equipment to the condition it was initially designed so that a restoration can be started. Replacement of all electrolytic capacitors with Panasonic FC Gold or Nichicon UUV or UUW, 105 degree devices. Replacement of all coupling capacitors with Panasonic or Secor metal, poly type capacitors. Replacement of all compensating capacitors with Panasonic, Nichicon or Secor Polyfilm devices. Replacement of active semiconductors, where applicable, with new, updated OEM style devices. These devices are specified by several design engineers, such as James Bongiorno, who have experience in the design of audio equipment. Replacement of any other devices deemed to be out of specification. All circuit boards are cleaned of excess rosin and contaminates using industrial grade printed circuit board chemicals to insure the best possible operation of the circuitry. The complete interior is cleaned to remove dust and other collected matter. All mounting screws, where electrical conduction is used, are replaced with new screws to eliminate any possible or intermittent circuit problems caused by oxidation or other contaminates. All applicable adjustments, i. Balance, offset and bias are set to applicable factory specifications where applicable. All cosmetic parts are removed and cleaned, using an ultrasonic cleaning process and/or various, special, industrial cleaning products. Where applicable, panel assemblies and cabinets are sealed in a commercial ultra-thin, clear, unique Hydrophobic Polymer compound to insure that additional deterioration of lettering and detail is minimized. The unit is then re-assembled and all functions are verified to ascertain full functionality. The unit is then placed into a burn-in period which varies from 24 to 48 hours, depending on the type of equipment. Certain equipment is also operated on our Cycler for more intensive burn-in. After burn-in the equipment is then re-assessed to insure that all adjustments and alignments are correct and have not changed. In both operations all replaced, defective parts and a detailed explanation of the work performed are supplied to the Client for the Client’s inspection and review. The technician who restored this amp commented that this is the nicest, cleanest MC275 hed seen in years and that hed rate it a 9/10. There is the normal deterioration of the chrome along the creases in the metal chassis that plagues all Mac amplifiers of this vintage, some lettering on the rear panel has been rubbed off, and a very minor scratch exists on top of one of the transformers. The lettering on the front panel is 100% perfect. Electrically and mechanically it is definitely a 10/10 having had the restoration work done and is good to go for another twenty or thirty years of flawless performance. Included is a lovely selection of audiophile tubes that have plenty of life remaining. Thank you for looking and considering this exemplary McIntosh MC275! The item “McIntosh MC275 1960s Vintage Tube Amp A Beautiful Gem Completely Restored” is in sale since Sunday, March 7, 2021. HIFI – Classics QUAD II. Quad II: Peter Walker and the Acoustical Manufacturing Company. But what kind of devices are actually setting the tone? The English Acoustical Manufacturing Company from Huntingdon, near Cambridge, was founded in 1936 by Peter Walker. In order to better address the emerging market for high fidelity equipment, the brand name QUAD was chosen for Quality Unit Amplifier Domestic. Back then the world was still playing mono and so the first product was the tube-based one. Single-channel QA12 Pre Amplifier from 1949, soon followed by the QC II Pre, and the “Tube Power Amplifier”. This power amplifier was replaced by the 15 watt Quad II amplifier in 1953 and remained in the range until 1967. In terms of circuitry, wide tolerances in the tubes and components are compensated for in a very clever way. Distortions of the output signal are greatly reduced by including the windings of the transformer. The possible power of the output tubes is also not fully used, which makes the amplifier very reliable and durable. Signals and supply voltages are exchanged with the Control Unit via multi-contact plugs, making both devices one functional unit. These parts are defect! Condition see images, without tubes and cables, there are parts missing! Screws from bottom cover are missing. Für Modell Quad II (2), Acoustical Manufacturing Co. Drake L7 Vintage Ham Radio 3-500Z Tube Amplifier (wired for 120V, one bad meter)

This is a nice Drake L7 amplifier. It’s in fair cosmetic condition and from a smoke-free home, but certainly isn’t going to win any beauty contests. One knob is missing the metal inlay. Also, the aluminum trim has some sort of brown residue on it. It’s on there pretty good but may come off with the right chemical. Aside from that, it’s the small scuffs/scratches you’d expect from equipment this old. I would note that the power supply is pretty dirty/dusty inside and would benefit from being blown out with an air compressor. The amp itself is clean inside. It’s currently wired for 120VAC and has two Eimac tubes installed. We see no sign of modification and all components appear original. The amplifier runs well. For CW, plate voltage sits at 2100VDC with no load. Keyed-down with 60 watts, we got 600 watts out. For SSB, plate voltage sits at 3000VDC with no load. Ensure this amp will meet your needs, and just as important, be sure you’re comfortable operating it. I’ll say it one more time…. Read the manual before purchasing and operating the amplifier. I can take the tubes out if you like, but I would personally recommend leaving them in. They are tight in the socket and are not going to come out. But, as I said, it’s your call and I’ll do whatever you prefer. Lastly, Please note that the plate meter isn’t operational. Also, I would encourage you to replace the power supply’s capacitors before putting the amplifier into service. It wouldn’t be a bad idea to give the RF deck a going-though as well and replacing some of it’s components. As I mentioned above, all components look original and probably 40 years old. If you expect 40 year old capacitors to hold up well for much longer, you’re going to be disappointed sooner than later. If you need to hire someone to do this for you, I can get you in touch with a qualified technician. If you prefer one carrier over the other, please make that request when paying for the item. Rest assured, you’ll receive your item in excellent condition! WHAT’S INCLUDED IN THE SALE: You will only receive what is shown in the photographs. If you do not see it in the photos, it is likely not included in the sale. That includes manuals, packaging, power cords, accessories, and so on. 1965 Fender Vibrolux Reverb Blackface Vintage 2x10 Tube Amp AA864 with Jensen C10N

Up for sale, a 1965 Fender Vibrolux Reverb in excellent condition and in perfect working order. With good reason, the Vibrolux is one of the most desirable Fender Blackface models for its ideal size and power, performing well both on stage and in the studio with shimmering Fender cleans and smooth, lightly compressed tube overdrive when you push the amp towards 10 on the volume dial. Clean and sweet up til about 5 on the volume knob (with a perceived volume that’s loud enough to keep up with an aggressive drummer), the Vibrolux has smooth attack and tube rectifier sag, not to mention lush tube Reverb and punchy Tremolo. The preamp is 100% original, save for a new bias cap to regulate the power tubes, retaining a full compliment of original blue molded Ajax caps, a key ingredient in the sweet, musical character of Fender’s Blackface circuits. All of the original transformers are intact, manufactured by Schumacher (Fender’s primary transformer supplier in the’60s) and dating to 1965. All of the original CTS pots are intact too, with visible date codes from’65, matching the chassis stamp. The power supply has been professionally recapped with Sprague Atoms. The Jensen 10 speakers are a matched pair of vintage drivers with clean black frames and foil stickers on the ceramic magnets, factory spec for this model yet dating to’66. These speakers are the perfect pairing for the Vibrolux circuit, offering Jense’s hi-fi clarity and articulation. The tube chart is intact, with a faded “OE” date stamp which translates to May of 1966. The pair of brand new Tung Sol 5881 (6L6) power tubes are optimally biased, with a vintage RCA 5AR4 rectifier and an array of modern and vintage preamp tubes from the likes of Amperex and General Electric. The original smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth are intact, with sparingly little tolex wear and uniform aging of the grillcloth. The hardware includes the full compliment of witch hat knobs (with a couple vintage substitutes), raised Fender logo, handle caps, chassis straps, corners, and sphinx glides (feet).
