1959 Gibson Skylark GA-5 Vintage Tube Amplifier Combo, Blonde 1x8 5W

Up for sale, a 1959 Gibson Skylark GA-5 tube combo amp in excellent condition and in perfect working order. The first GA-5 iteration was introduced in 1954, quickly becoming one Gibsons most popular amp models. In 1957 the Skylark moniker was added to the line, maintaining the blonde tolex and a single volume knob, but transitioning away from the TV-style cabinet of its predecessor to a sharper aesthetic and larger brown grillcloth. This little Class A wonder pumps out a modest five watts of pure tube goodness through a single 8 speaker. From mostly clean, crisp tones low on the volume dial, to sizzling overdrive when you dime it out, this amp is at home in a studio and sounds great with a microphone in front of it. Dynamic and sweet with the original alnico 8 speaker, this Skylark responds well to a variety of pickups. The point-to-point wired circuit is very original, with transformer codes that date to 1959 and a Centralab pot that dates to the 5th week of’59. The preamp features new capacitors as necessary, with top quality Sprague components used throughout. The tubes consist of a vintage General Electric rectifier and Raytheon EL84 power tube, along with a Sovtek 12AX7 in the preamp. The speaker is a vintage alnico replacement with a clean gold frame and original cone that offers a smooth and even response. The cabinet sports its original blonde tolex and brown grillcloth, which retains its original small raised “Gibson” badge. Even the stock leather handle and small rubber feet are intact, and the faceplate retains its singular chicken head knob. Scuffs and light wear can be seen on the exterior of the cabinet, with light wear through the silkscreening on the face of the amp as well, but as the photos show, this is a presentable and fully serviced vintage Skylark. 1964 Fender Bassman 6G6B Blonde Brownface Vintage Piggyback Tube Amp Oxford 12M6

Up for sale, a 1964 Fender Bassman in near mint, collector-grade condition and in perfect working order. The last iteration of the 6G6-B Bassman circuit, this Brownface Bassman features original smooth blonde tolex, gold sparkle grillcloth and a black faceplate with cream barrel knobs (although the circuit is still of the earlier Brownface design). 100% original aside from new main filter caps and grid resistors, the amp is loaded with a full compliment of ostensibly original tubes, with a matched pair of gray plate 6L6GCs with very low hours. Like the Tweed amps that preceded it, the Brownface circuits respond well to picking dynamics with Fender’s hi-fi, glassy clean tones. The EQ controls have a huge range and after around 5 on the volume dial the amp cascades into very rich tube overdrive with smooth compression that enhances note attack. It’s the kind of natural tube saturation that only comes from pushing a well designed Fender circuit to its limit. A Pre-CBS Fender Blonde Bassman was used on more Beatles recording sessions than the Vox AC30, was a particular favorite of Pete Townshend, and has become the amp forever linked with Brian Setzer’s classic Rockabilly tones. It’s hard to beat the Bassman for a tone that bridges the gap between the warmth and nuance of the Brownface circuits and the shimmery cleans of the Blackface line. The chassis shines like new and the preamp is virtually untouched, with all of the original blue Ajax tone caps, carbon comp resistors, cloth-covered wire, and Stackpole pots that date to late’63. All of the original Schumacher transformers are intact with very clean bells, dating between late’63 and the first weeks of 1964. New filter caps have been sleeved into the original wrappers, providing a clean, original look and guaranteeing optimal performance. The tube chart is fully intact on crisp, unfaded paper, with a bold “ND” date stamp which translates to April of’64. The speaker cabinet had likely never been opened prior to the photos taken for this listing, with all of the original fiberglass baffling intact, as well as a pair of near mint Oxford 12M6 speakers with early’64 date codes on the black frames. The wiring inside the cab is untouched, and both speakers retain their original cones. Cosmetically, this is the cleanest 6G6-B Bassman we’ve ever had in the shop, and both the head and cabinet retain their original transitional smooth blonde tolex and gold sparkle grillcloth, a combination only seen for a matter of months in early’64. Aside from a few light scuffs on the edges of the speaker cab, there’s virtually no wear to report. All of the original hardware is intact and is positively gleaming, including the tilt-back chrome legs, piggyback clip bars and thumbscrews, logos, and nickel corners. This is a no-excuses, collector-grade 6G6-B Bassman loaded with a full compliment of original tubes, stock speakers, and an extremely original circuit. 90's Fender Pro Junior tube guitar amp made in USA vintage blonde, 15 Watts

Fender Pro Junior tube amp, covered in vintage blonde tolex. This first generation Pro Junior delivers classic Fender sound in a compact size, made in USA. Two EL84 power amp tubes and two 12AX7 preamp tubes, one volume and one tone pot for a pure authentic sound. With the tone knob fully open, you can get that famous Fender crystal clear sound. Speaker has been changed for. Please note there have some been modifications so that this does run as loud as a regular Fender Pro Junior (I don’t know any more than that, but have included some circuit photos). The volume is much lower, it does not distort when the volume is 6, or above and the tone is notably a lot warmer. The internal speaker is connected into the chassis with a jack plug, so you can pull this out and use an external speaker box (for example 4 x 12 at 8 Ohms) if you want. Thank you for looking. Vintage 1962 Fender Tremolux Blonde Guitar Amp Tube Head Pre-CBS 6G9-B

Up for grabs is this original vintage 1962 Fender Tremolux tube head. As in many cases, the head has been separated from the original piggy back cabinet. Overall, the head is in good condition, but has had some modifications. The Tremolux still has all of the original transformers/chokes, which date this amp to 1962. The filter and electrolytic capacitors have been replaced, but the original caps will be included in the sale. The handle has also been replaced with a new OEM brown Fender handle and the power cable has been upgraded to a 3-prong cable. The previous owner did a mod to essentially bypass the normal channel, which is not too uncommon. Most people, including myself, typically only use the bright channel anyway to take advantage of the tremolo and/or reverb when applicable. The normal channel volume knob now seems to act like a master volume for the bright channel. This amp is equipped with older RCA preamp and power tubes. The amp sounds very good as is, but can always easily be reverted back to original specs by a competent tech. These early’60s Fender amps are becoming harder to find, especially in working condition. The amp will be securely packaged with all tubes removed to ensure it remains safe in transit. Please feel free to ask any questions or make an offer! 1962 Fender Twin Vintage Tube Amp Brownface Blonde Pre-CBS 2x12 Jensen

Up for sale, a 1962 Fender Twin in excellent condition and in perfect working order. Fender’s premier tube combo amp in the Pre-CBS Brownface era, the Twin featured an identical chassis to their largest piggyback Fender amp, the Showman. A 2×12 affair with green frame Jensen speakers and 80 watts of power via a quad of matched General Electric 6L6 power tubes, this Twin is a powerhouse. The cleans are big, bold, and warm, with a huge range from the EQ controls and Fender’s famed Harmonic Vibrato circuit. Unlike traditional tremolo (volume modulation), this circuit has true pitch shifting vibrato with Leslie-esque warbles and thick, pulsating swirls. The perfect middle ground between the dynamic, saturated tones of the earlier Tweed era amps and the clarity and shimmering cleans of the later Blackface line, this Showman has a very warm and nuanced sound, with absolutely giant transformers that keep the low end thick and focused. The cabinet is brand new and built to vintage spec by Mojotone with rough blonde tolex, solid pine baffle, and oxblood grillcloth. The cab is fitted with genuine Fender hardware including nickel corners, dogbone handle, chassis straps, and chrome tilt-back legs. The Jensen speakers are both genuine vintage USA-made speakers with one alnico P12PS and one cermaic C12PS. Both speakers have clean green frames, original bell covers, and Jensen foil labels. The circuit has been fully serviced and recapped, with new bypass capacitors and new filter caps as well. The majority of the original famed Ajax blue molded tone caps are intact, providing the sweetness, clarity, and balance found with vintage Fender preamps. All of the stock pots and carbon comp resistors are present as well, along with original cloth wiring. The amp boasts a quad of vintage USA-made General Electric 6L6 power tubes as well as a host of vintage and newer valves in the preamp. The original transformers are all intact, with the absolutely massive output transformer often known as the “Dick Dale” transformer, spec’d to be cleaner and more powerful than any Fender transformer that preceded it. The original faceplate is in great shape with all of the stock cream barrel knobs. This Twin is thoroughly serviced with all original transformers, a vintage quad of power tubes, vintage Jensen speakers, and a new Mojotone cab made to vintage spec. Check out our shop “Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, ” and please let us know if we can answer any questions! We use double thick boxes, 1″ foam, and industrial 1/2″ bubble wrap to assure that your amp arrives safely. 1962 Fender Bassman 6G6B Blonde Brownface Vintage Piggyback Tube Amp Jensen C12N

Up for sale, a 1962 Fender Bassman in excellent condition and in perfect working order. An early iteration of the “Piggyback” version of this amplifier with rough blonde tolex and oxblood grillcloth, this Brownface Bassman drives two vintage General Electric 6L6GC power tubes for 40 powerful watts of pure tube goodness. Like the Tweed amps that preceded it, the Brownface circuits respond well to picking dynamics with Fender’s hi-fi, glassy clean tones. The EQ controls have a huge range and after around 5 on the volume dial the amp cascades into very rich tube overdrive that compresses noticeably and sounds great. It’s hard to beat the Bassman for a tone that bridges the gap between the warmth and nuance of the Brownface circuits and the shimmery cleans of the Blackface line! The circuit is very original and has been well maintained and recently serviced with fresh filter caps and a modern three-prong power cable. All of the famed blue Ajax tone caps are intact in the preamp, with stock Stackpole pots, carbon comp resistors, and cloth wire. All of the Schumacher transformers are original with mid 1962 date codes. The output transformer dates to the 17th week of’62, while the power transformer dates to the 20th week of that year. The tube chart is mostly intact too. The tube compliment includes a pair of vintage General Electric 6L6GC power tubes that have been properly biased, and the preamp tubes are mostly vintage valves as well from the likes of RCA and General Electric. The speaker cabinet is a rare transitional small box design that has the same dimensions as the 1×12 Tone Ring cab that preceded it, along with the internal “fins” on the back panel and a partial central divider on the original baffle. Fitted with a pair of vintage Jensen C12N speakers, these drivers are an optimal pairing for the 6G6B Bassman circuit, and while these speakers aren’t original, they do date to early 1964 and are the same make and model used in many’60s Bassmans. Cosmetically, this is an excellent and well kept example of one of Fender’s most desirable Pre-CBS circuits. Both the head and cabinet retain their original rough blonde tolex and oxblood grillcloth. In terms of hardware, the plastic “dogbone” handle on the head is original, while the handle on the cab is a modern replacement. The original faceplate is intact and quite clean, complete with original white barrel knobs. All other hardware is 100% stock, with original tilt-back chrome legs and stops, sphinx glides (feet), flat metal Fender logos, nickel corners and piggyback clip bars. Check out our shop “Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, ” and please let us know if we can answer any questions! Up for sale, a 1963 Fender Showman Brownface tube amplifier head and 1×15 Tone Ring speaker cab in excellent condition and in perfect working order. Along with the Twin, the Showman was the flagship of the early 1960s Fender tube amp lineup, featuring a whopping 80 watts of power, and boasting Fender’s unique “Harmonic Vibrato” circuit. While the Showman may best be known as Dick Dale’s amp of choice for his classic surf sound, this circuit can offer much more, with incredibly rich low end and EQ controls that have an extremely wide sweep for everything from punchy cleans to raucous overdrive. The perfect middle ground between the dynamic, saturated tones of the earlier Tweed era amps and the clarity and shimmering cleans of the later Blackface line, this Showman has a very warm and nuanced sound, with absolutely giant transformers that keep the low end thick and focused. Perfect for guitar, bass, or keyboards, this is a versatile head that pairs well with just about anything from the era! Restored to original spec, the head features new rough blonde tolex and original oxblood grillcloth, while the speaker cabinet is a brand new solid pine reproduction from Mojotone fitted with a genuine vintage JBL D130F speaker. One very unique and desirable feature of the Showman is the ported Tone Ring speaker cabinet. This large 1×15 enclosure was designed to deliver the clearest, most pure Fender tone with a stock JBL D140F speaker, and as such utilizes a dual baffle board design in which the speaker floats between the baffles, mounted to a metal tone ring. This elegant design makes the Showman cab work as a closed back, ported enclosure and you’ll notice greater range of your EQ controls, ample bass response and an overall sweeter, balanced tone that you simply can’t get with any other Fender cabinet. Plus it just looks so darn impressive! The circuit has been fully serviced and recapped, with new Sprague Atom bypass capacitors and new filter caps as well, all sleeved in the original Minimite wrappers. The original famed Ajax blue molded tone caps are intact, providing the sweetness, clarity, and balance found with vintage Fender preamps. All of the stock pots and carbon comp resistors are present as well, along with original cloth wiring. The amp boasts a quad of vintage USA-made Tung Sol 5881 (6L6GC) small bottle power tubes as well as a host of vintage valves in the preamp. The original transformers are all intact, with the absolutely massive output transformer often known as the “Dick Dale” transformer, spec’d to be cleaner and more powerful than any Fender transformer that preceded it. The power transformer dates to the first weeks of’63, while the tube chart has an “LG” date code which translates to July of’62. Along with the new rough blonde tolex on the head, all of the hardware is new as well, with modern Fender dogbone handles, chassis straps, and corners. The Showman faceplate is original and fitted with new cream barrel knobs. When Mojotone made the speaker cabinet, they placed the handle in the wrong location, something which has been rectified, and the tolex has been patched to cover the handle mounting holes on the cab for the cleanest possible look. With original transformers, a fully serviced and very stock circuit, a full compliment of vintage valves, and a vintage JBL D130F speaker too, this restored Showman is a Pre-CBS Fender classic.
