Up for sale is an excellent and underrated tube amp by Peavey.. This one flies under the radar, but it is a very good sounding tube amp. Just check all of the youtube videos and what the owners have to say about this unit. Runs on 3 preamp tubes as well 2 6l6GC power tubes. This amp seems to have a little bit more control knobs than a typical Peavey Tube amp from the 70s and 80s, like the Peavey Bravo. And this is a good thing! Gives it some really good versatility and allows the owner to have a lot of control over their sound, with many shades available. The typical knobs, like bass, mid and treble, are very reactive! Youve got enough options there to really change up the flavors of your sounds! But then youve also got the ability to pull out the pre (amp) knob and gives you a little more brightness to your sound.. Perfect for humbucker guitars, like my Schecter Synyster Gates Standard and modded Epiphone Les Paul Jr. Theres the pump knob, which I think is the analog to the saturation knobs on the other aforementioned Peavey tube amps, which increases the gain, saturation and sustain to your overdrive. Perfect for adjusting your solos and leads. You can also pull the post (gain) knob and make you sound smooth as Peavey calls it. Sounds to me like it adds some bass frequencies and possibly some low mid frequencies. Perfect for single coil guitars. Pull out the high knob on your parametric eq, and it makes your sound thick according to Peavey. Sounds like low mids get boosted once again, and possibly some high mids and bass/lows. Did I mention that this amp also has a presence control? Add real spring reverb that sounds really good to the mix, and youve got a total all-in-one unit with the nice warm sounds of valves! Not to mention, this amp has been upgraded with a practically brand new Celestion Seventy-80 (70-Eighty) speaker! Many good sounds can had from this box. Even if you keep the pre-amp gain low, the pump control low, and turn up the post or power amp volume, you can get a very nice classic rock crunch. It would also work well for country rhythms and for solos in soft rock. No problems with the sound of this particular unit either! The power tubes are fairly new and all you get from this machine is tone, tone, tone! No cleaning pots necessary at this time…. None of them are scratchy!!!!!! Such and amazing wealth and variety of sounds can be had from this excellent amp. Definitely a must have! Up for sale, a 1988 Marshall Studio 15 tube amplifier in excellent condition and in perfect working order. An uncommon Marshall model and one of the true hidden gems of the company’s’80s offerings, the Studio 15 has an unconventional 6V6 power tube compliment that delivers an envious array of classic Marshall tones. The cleans are smooth and dynamic, and the gain is absolutely roaring, with sizzle and bite that is characteristically closer to a Plexi than a JCM800. The controls are simple and straightforward, with a Gain knob, three bands of EQ, and an Output Level control so the player can balance cleans and grit at the desired volume. And even with the master volume in the lower part of its range, the amp still retains low end muscle and fullness. The original Celestion Vintage 30 is intact, with a BX prefix date code that translates to February of 1988. All of the original transformers are present and the amp is very clean cosmetically, with no wear of note. Made in the USA Dean Markley RM-80 combo 80 watt tube amp. This is an awesome sounding amp, and very loud too (when you want it to be). It has a tube in the pre-amp, and you can get some wonderful tones. The speaker is a 12 Celestion, and sounds great. You can also unhook the speaker and slide the main part of the amp out to use in a rack, or just use it as is as there is plenty of power for most venues. The handle has been replaced, and there is a discoloration on the top. These don’t affect anything, but wanted to disclose everything. Up for sale, a 1963 Vox AC30 in exceptional condition, complete with “Top Boost” circuitry. This early AC30 sounds nothing short of spectacular, and the clean tone is particularly robust, rich, and nuanced. Few amps sound as classic and familiar as an early JMI AC30, and this example excels with the incredibly dynamic, touch sensitive responsiveness, smooth tube saturation, and glassy clarity that has made this amp one of the most sought after of all time. One of the earliest AC30s we’ve ever had in the shop, the amp head boasts smooth black (pre-basketweave) tolex, brass vents, no corners, and a copper control panel. The list of AC30 enthusiasts is endless, with a story that began with the Shadows and quickly grew to include players such as the Beatles, U2, Queen and countless others. This amp delivers both the detailed cleans and midrange rich tube overdrive that are the hallmarks of the AC30 tone, not to mention providing fantastic vibrato and tremolo on the third pair of inputs! Fully restored, this head has been recovered with smooth black tolex and the cabinet is a new, factory spec reproduction courtesy of North Coast Music with black basketweave tolex. The chrome trolley is also a virtually new modern reproduction, and the cab is loaded with a fresh pair of Celestion Blue alnico speakers. The serial/model # plaque on the back of the head is also newer along with a Korg-era SBU-style handle on top. The Top Boost module is itself the stuff of legend, and this aftermarket module is authentic to the original design, with Bass and Treble controls powered by an additional 12AX7/ECC83 that really helped push the AC30 into new and uncharted tonal territory. Married specifically with the Brilliance inputs, the Top Boost module was reverse engineered from the tone stack of a Fender Twin Reverb and provides a musical and familiar EQ sweep in addition to an extra gain stage that helps coax rich harmonics, incredible cut, and more drive out of the amp. This amp boasts a very original and freshly serviced circuit, with stock Albion transformers. The circuit has been partially recapped, and the preamp features the vast majority of the original Wima tone capacitors. The pots have a “DK” date stamp which translates to April of 1963. The chassis itself is quite clean with a vibrant reddish copper faceplate that retains all of its lettering in addition to original chicken head knobs. A previous owner has also put a few hash marks for specific settings adjacent to a few of the knobs. The amp sports a set of newer JJ EL84 power tubes which sound fantastic and deliver an authentic British tone. The preamp tubes consist of mostly newer valves as well. Cosmetically, you won’t find a more squeaky clean looking amp, and this Vox present particularly well and deserves to be seen on stage or in a studio. This AC30 with Top Boost circuitry is the pinnacle of the Vox sound, and the amp that chimed its way into the hearts of millions on your favorite early Beatles records. Don’t miss out on this gem!
