EXTREMELY RARE, one of the coolest 1960s Vintage UNIVERSAL/VERSATONE by Audio Guild Corp. TUBE COMBO PROFESSIONAL AMPLIFIER in excellent for this year Physical and Working condition. Has 2-way speakers system with 3 separate chambers – for 12 UTAH L. WOOFER, 8 JENSEN SOUND LABORATORIES HIGH FIDELITY LOUDSPEAKER and one of the Chambers is EMPTY (see pics). ALL SPEAKERS AND ALL ANOTHER PARTS ORIGINAL, INCLUDING REVERBERATOR SYSTEM, NOTHING CHANGED. EVERYTHING IN EXCELLENT PHYSICAL AND WORKING CONDITION. JUST SMALL DENT ON THE FRONT LOGO PANEL AND SOME WEARS ON THE CORNERS OF THE CABINET (see pics), BUT IT DOESNT AFFECT ON THE AMAZING SOUND. THIS IS THE PROFESSIONAL MODEL as compared to the student model, Bonham or Lyric that are usually for sale. Similar ones were used for recording 1960′s Surf Tunes and other clean Hi-Fi sounds. Audio Guild was established by Magnatone designer, Donald Bonham. Audio Guild amps were designed by Don Bonham, post Magnatone, and exist under a few different brand names. Amps manufactured in Van Nuys, California in 1960/70s. After leaving Magnatone in the 1960s, chief engineer Don Bonham went on to form the Audio Guild Corporation. Since Bonham owned the patent, the amps featured the same pitch-shifting vibrato circuit that made Magnatone amps famous. Bonham was an engineer with the Hammond Organ Co before he started building amps, so it was only natural he would be interested in the vibrato effect. Bonham believed in the highest quality sound and innovation. The Audio Guild amps he produced in the late 60s were used by pros in the studio where the highest fidelity was much more important than brute power. Carol Kay, the most popular studio bass player in Hollywood, used his amp, also how the Beach Boys used it. Bonham was a big fan of Acoustic Suspension speakers. Unheard of in instrument amps, A. Speakers could not mounted in open cabinets, the large, unrestrained cone travel would destroy the speaker. But Bonham didnt want to use the usual cabinet design of a box filled with foam to dampen the boxs resonate frequency, the foam also lowered efficiency. So Bonham designed a cabinet with a small chamber next to the speaker chamber, with a small hole between the chambers that acted as a valve. It allowed the speaker to function at max efficiency while eliminating any resonating frequencies. A technology Bonham borrowed from the HiFi world was bi-amping. The input was split into high and low frequencies and amplified separately, for a cleaner sound. Donnald Bonham didnt make the loudest or the most, he just made the best. The Champ storied history began in 1948 as a 4-watt amp with a single 8-inch speaker a green tweed linen covering in the form of the original Champion 800. It was soon replaced by the even-smaller Champion 600 a year later, dressed in two tone brown & white vinyl, sporting a 6 speaker to compliment the Princetons 8. The two tone covering became the famous tweed around 1953. The Champ was overhauled in 1964 in the blackface style with a black Tolex covering. The AA764 circuit has remained the same from 1964 right through until 1982 (including the tube rectifier). Over the years, the Champ has gone through several other iterations, from tube to solid-state, from tweed to Tolex, but it consistently remained a key piece of gear for casual players and professional artists alike. This is a nice example of a silverface Champ that has all the hang tags and manual included, a great addition to anyones gear! 1966 Supro Model 88T, Valco Made, Vintage Tube Combo Amplifier, N. Thanks for your interest! This Supro Model 88T, also sometimes referred to as the 1688T, is in brand new and original condition, having just been removed from the original box. The Supro was delivered new to Ziegler Music in Aurora, Illinois, where it was placed in storage and never opened. After Zeigler closed in the 2000s, the amp, along with the other store stock, including many N. Guitars from the 1960s and 1970s, was placed in a storage unit until it was discovered after the owners passing by the family. I unboxed the amp, checked the tubes and the wiring, and tried it out. It works perfectly, although I did replace the cord to an updated three prong cord for safety. The new owner of this amp up for sale can leave the cord installed or re-install the old one for display, according to the intended use. Again, this Supro amp is brand new and just out of the box, and yes, the box and factory tags are included with the sale, as is the period newspaper it was packed with. This is a rare opportunity to acquire an brand new amp from the 1960s. This is a rare model, and a clean example of a classic Supro amp made by Valco. The 1688T/88T is a 2×12 amp originally made for bass, but is really a guitar amp, and is the predecessor to the more common Thunderbolt. 1967 Fender Twin Reverb Blackface Combo Amplifier. This amp sounds outstanding and is the epitome of Blackface tones. It is all-original except for upgraded vintage 1972 CTS 12E18L speakers, a 3-prong power cord, replaced power supply filter caps, and new properly biased JJ power tubes. Everything else is original. Most parts actually date to 1966, while the power transformer dates to 1967. This was likely made very early 1967. There is zero hum. The reverb is lush and the vibrato works great. There is no static when adjusting any of the controls. This amp sounds excellent at both low and high volumes. Overall this vintage amp is in good working condition with typical cosmetic wear. The grill cloth has a few tiny tears and the tolex has some typical scuffs throughout, but nothing major. The faceplate is good and all lettering is visible, just some standard marks throughout. The handle works perfectly. A previous owner etched some letters on the back corner of the chassis but is barely visible. Most of the tube chart has peeled off. The original tilt back legs work perfectly. Includes the original 2-button Reverb/Vibrato footswitch in good working condition. The footswitch has typical marks from usage. Also includes the Fender slipcover in very good condition. Does not include any other accessories. The Twin was Fender’s original two 12-inch speaker tube amp launched in 1952. The original Twin was supplanted by the Twin Reverb in 1963 which has since earned a place as one of Fender’s most iconic amps. Starting in the late’60s, the Twin Reverb switched from Blackface to a Silverface style cabinet. The Silverface editions are less desirable. Heres a demo of what this amp sounds like. Made in Torrance, California, by Magnatone/Estey Electronics in very late62, this is an Ariatone 810 amp with a single original Oxford 8 speaker, dating to the 46. The Chicago Telephone Supply (CTS) volume pot is from the 51. My guess is the model name/number refers to an 8 speaker and perhaps 10 watts? This amp requires two 50C5, one 12AX7 and one 12AV6. This is a VERY simple amp offering an adequate clean sound, and an absolutely killer tube crunch that would be welcome in any studio. With the classic Maggie pitch shift vibrato, this would also make a great amp for all you slobbering harp players out there. Youll probably want to upgrade to a grounded plug. Im not certain whats on there is original. Though Ive no reason to believe it isnt, its a rather bulky plug for the time. Contact me beforehand to work out any other arrangements. One of the greaest guitar amplifiers ever made. The no compromise engineering led to a high price and not really breaking the mainstream, but Status Quo, Thin Lizzy and Killing Joke used Burman amp when they could afford them. Lots of gain available with Burman stacked gain controls, active mid gives crazy EQ range compared to crude FMV tone stacks. Recapped, revalved, had a life though, so beat up. Obviously this is a heavy lump, but I can have it couriered, would massively prefer collection though.
