Up for sale, a 1954 Fender Deluxe in excellent condition and in perfect working order. The precursor to the narrow panel 5E3 circuit, this 5D3 “wide panel” Deluxe is an exceedingly well-kept and very original example, complete with the original transformer compliment and Jensen P12R speaker. Incredibly dynamic and harmonically rich, the Deluxe can be glassy and clear at low volumes, but for most players the magic is in this amp’s overdrive capabilities. Especially when connecting the two channels on the three input circuit with a small jumper 1/4 cable, the interactive pair of Volume controls can dial in everything from fully saturated roar and snarl, to the particular sweet buzzy qualities with ideal midrange bite. This amp reacts well to a host of effects pedals and different guitars, but truly shines with the guitar plugged straight into the amp, using your volume knob to coax clean rhythm tones and singing leads with the twist of a knob. The circuit retains the original Triad transformer pair, and the chassis is remarkably clean, The preamp features original red Astron “dynamite” capacitors, Stackpole pots, and carbon comp resistors, with modern premium USA-made filter caps and smaller electrolytics to ensure optimal performance and reliability. The amp is loaded with a complete set of vintage RCA tubes including a matched pair of 6V6s. The speaker is the original Jensen P12R alnico 12 driver with an extremely clean dark green frame. This speaker dates to the 46th week of’54, and retains the original speaker harness with cloth covered wire and stock 1/4 input as well. The other most pertinent date code is the “DL” stamp on the very clean tube chart, which translates to December of’54. The chrome on the chassis is incredibly clean, shining like few Tweeds still do with all of the original white text present along with stock chicken head knobs. In similar condition, the original tweed shows modest ambering, with some minor requisite scuffing on the edges of the cabinet and on the corners. Both back panels are original as well, as is the oxblood grillcloth and even the original leather handle. This Deluxe is an example that will satisfy collectors and serious players alike, and the amp has recently been given a clean bill of health, ready for your next gig or studio session. This is a Beautiful Vintage 1967 Fender Super Reverb Tube Amp. It in Very Good Condition and Fully Functional. The circuitry employs an All-Tube design. Sound-wise, the Amp is Amazing. Very touch sensitive and reactive to a player’s pick attack and the guitar’s volume control. The Fender Super has Reverb and “Vibrato” (actually tremolo). The Reverb gets massive quickly. Plenty of traditional, Fender style drippy spring reverb. The 4-10 speakers are Original and a great compliment to the amp’s tone. Original footswitch and aftermarket tough cover are included. This is a unique, vintage 1996 Marshall JCM 900 4100 Model. All tube, 2-channel dual reverb guitar amplifier head. It is completely stock and in great condition cosmetically and circuit-wise, with no modifications. This head has spent most of its life in a climate-controlled acoustics lab at the Fender headquarters in Scottsdale, AZ. It has not been gigged, not been on the road, and frankly not used much at all compared to a normal 25-year-old Marshall head. It has been sitting unused in my climate-controlled, smoke-free, pet-free home for two years. There are only a few cosmetic imperfections and detailed pictures are included. This is one of two JCM900 units Fender used over the years to create their Marshall high-gain amp emulations, which you’ll find in Fender modeling amps and plugins. If you’ve used a “British Hi-Gain” or similar Marshall amp model on a Fender product, it’s likely to be based on this exact amp head or its twin (also for sale). This has been kept in a clinical business environment and used only occasionally, the wear and tear is far less than you’d find on Marshall head being cranked daily and moved around by a touring/gigging musician. I have a DSL100HR from the same Fender lab up for sale as well. Current tube setup is. 3x JJ Tube 12AX7 / ECC83S (IMO hands-down best preamp tubes for Marshall heads). 4x Sovtek 5881 / 6L6WGC (warm tone, not harsh but has excellent breakup and bite when pushed). 4x JJ Tube 6L6 GC (warm tone, clear and crisp articulation on the highs with tight and rounded lows). Up for sale, a 1979 Fender Vibrolux Reverb in excellent condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original two-button footswitch and a 100% original, untouched circuit. One of the last amps produced in the original Silverface run, this vintage Fender does everything you’d expect of your favorite mid-size vintage Fender combo, with a balanced, sparkly clean tone and just the right amount of headroom before giving in to smooth tube saturation and overdrive. There’s a reason why the Vibrolux is currently one of the most collectable and sought after vintage Fender amps, as it’s ideal for recording and also the perfect size for club gigs without overwhelming your bandmates. The balanced tone of the two original 10 CTS ceramic speakers matched with a tube rectified 6L6-based circuit simply can’t be beat! Add Fender’s famed tube driven reverb and tremolo on top and you have one of the best tube amp designs ever conceived. The circuit is untouched, with original Schumacher transformers that date to 1979. The CTS pots in the preamp are all intact, also dating to 1979, and the amp has just been given a clean bill of health from our techs here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar. The original Mallory filter caps are intact and still viable, and while one cap shows minor leakage, all still function well and are left intact, given the pristine, original nature of the circuit. The speakers are the original pair of CTS 10 ceramic drivers with clean frames, original blue foil stickers on the magnets, and stamps on the frames from the 30th week of’79. The tube chart is fully intact inside the cabinet as well with crisp corners. The tubes consist of a brand new pair of Tung Sol 6L6 power tubes, the original Fender-branded 5U4 rectifier, and a near complete set of original Fender-branded, USA-made valves in the preamp as well. Cosmetically, the amp is very clean with original smooth black tolex silver sparkle cloth with a subtle blue stripe. The black tolex shows very little wear, and all of the stock hardware is intact aside from a brand new pair of sphinx glides (feet). The amp was at one time fitted with casters which have subsequently been removed. All of the turquoise text is bold and present on the Silverface faceplate, and all of the stock witch hat knobs are present too. Up for sale, a 1970 Ampeg B-15N Portaflex tube amp in excellent condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original trolley and cover. The B-15N is one of the most recorded and highly regarded tube bass amp circuits of all time, and this classic four-input vintage model delivers the goods through the original 15 Eminence ceramic magnet speaker. Manufactured in the USA by Ampeg at their Linden, NJ factory and just given a clean bill of health from our techs here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, the amp is powered by a matched pair of properly biased Tung Sol 6L6GC power tubes. Notable for the addition of Ultra-Hi and Ultra-Lo rocker switches for each channel not found on earlier iterations, this B-15N has surprising output given its modest power and excels at a dynamic and detailed tone that can be extremely warm, or distinct and bright. Paired with a Precision Bass, it’s the perfect recipe for Motown thump. The original transformers are both present, and the preamp is virtually untouched, with original CTS pots and visible date codes from the 21st week of 1970. Along with the Tung Sol 6L6 power tubs, the amp features a combination of modern and vintage octal preamp tubes as well as a vintage Mullard GZ34 rectifier. The stock Eminence speaker has a clean frame and date code from the 13th week of 1970. The cabinet retains the original smooth black tolex, silver sparkle grillcloth, and Ampeg badge. The faceplate retains virtually all of the original blue pinstriping, along with a full compliment of original knobs. Wear on the cabinet is limited to minor scuffs and light edge wear, and all original hardware is included and viable including the shockmounts for the head and original latches. As the photos show, this B-15N would look great in a studio. The original screw-on trolley is included, along with the original cover (not pictured). Up for sale, a 1957 Fender Princeton in exceptional condition and in perfect working order. This narrow panel tweed amp has absolutely stunning and virtually un-ambered original tweed, and is one of the more impressive golden-age Fender amps to come through our shop of late, complete with the original Victoria Luggage brown canvas cover. With its narrow panel configuration, this Princeton is considered the “big box” version, with a cab that’s far larger than the single 8 alnico speaker requires, and the resulting sound is deceptively round and rich for the relatively small speaker size. The circuit couldn’t be more simple and pure, with single Volume and Tone knobs and a Class A circuit design, powered by a single 6V6 power tube. The tone is articulate, dynamic and commanding, with the sizzle and churning overdrive of a Champ, but with more tonal range and fuller low end. The top end response is just right, and the amp doesn’t get too trebly, making the tone control quite usable for dialing in exactly as much zing and snap as you desire. The circuit is very original and only serviced as necessary for optimal functionality, retaining the original Triad transformers. The original Stackpole pots, carbon comp resistors, and yellow Astron capacitors are intact, with the pots dating to the 41st week of 1956. The power supply caps and smaller electrolytics have been replaced with high quality modern Spragues. The tubes are all vintage valves with a “coke bottle” Westinghouse 6V6, Phillips 5Y3 rectifier, and UK preamp tube of indeterminate origin. The speaker is an era-correct Oxford 8 driver which has been professionally reconed and dates to’59 with a very clean gray frame and stock wiring harness with RCA end. The tube chart is notable for its well-preserved condition, with perfect corners, handwritten serial number, and “GG” date stamp which translates to July of 1957. There is barely any ambering of the original tweed, with only a few minor scuffs on the bottom corners. The faceplate is extremely clean, with all of the white silkscreened font, shiny chrome, and a pair of original chicken head knobs. This amp is a true rarity given its condition, and this particular example has been carefully tested and inspected to ensure originality and ideal functionality. The original brown canvas Victoria Luggage cover is included. The cover has some loose stitching and isolated spots of missing trim, but still presents well. The tube chart is notable for its well-preserved condition, with perfect corners and clearly written serial number. There is light ambering of the tweed, with a few exceedingly minor marks and scuffs, and wear mostly relegated to the bottom corners of the enclosure. On the bottom, there is some staining from the rubber feet in a ring around the sphinx glides. The faceplate is very clean, with all of the white silkscreened font, shiny chrome, and a pair of original chicken head knobs. This amp is a true rarity, given its condition, and this particular example has been carefully tested and inspected to ensure originality and ideal functionality.
